Catherine Sexton: Becoming Apostolic
At this celebratory launch event, Prof Karen Kilby (CCS Director and Bede Professor, Durham University), Dr Clare Watkins (University of Roehampton and Durham University) and Sr Jo Robson (Carmelite Nun) were in conversation with the author Dr Catherine Sexton (Honorary Fellow, Durham University).
This book explores the experience and understanding of Roman Catholic sisters of their vocation to the apostolic form of religious life as they age. Based on interviews with twelve religious women, it draws on the practice of Lectio Divina to explore how these women describe their call to service and activity at a time in life when these might be curtailed by physical diminishment and increasingly reduced social interaction and influence. As the very institutions of religious life are themselves under threat, the book identifies new emerging forms of ministry through presence, to each other and to their carers.

Katie Bugyis: Ministers of the Eucharist: Nuns in England During the Central Middle Ages
Переглядів 2173 роки тому
Histories of Benedictine nuns in England during the central Middle Ages often remember them as passive recipients of priests' sacramental care. The documents of practice from women's monastic communities, however, offer a different view of the agencies and creativities nuns exercised in their liturgical praxis, even in the celebration of the Eucharist. Extant liturgical books, saints’ lives, an...

I am moved by your mention of ecology. It seems like a direct study of the Logos of God. Could you elaborate on your understanding of the Trinity of Creation.

What would such a character think of todays Telepather being tortured by mind control. Seems like the evil that holds the telepather captive in depression and sadness lifestyle is using this cult as a decoy to push nefarious evil agenda. You all are committing to evil while the telepather light is energy is being forced so i think you all are gonna reap the karma thats building up and is on track 🖕🏽 if i were alive during the messiah i woulda fought for him on sight

Thank you for this interesting discussion. One thing that surprised me was that Franz Liszt and his music wasn't mentioned at all when referring to religious, theologian, and yes, Catholic music.

The greatest part of creation is our children, not the environment. The Catholic Church would do well to do a few generations of penance for what they’ve done to the most vulnerable and beautiful of all creation. Francis is guilty of not prioritising the victims of sexual abuse. Sin is the root cause for all destruction, so let’s take the speck out of our eye first and then worry about the log after our vision is healed. Partnering with the world’s globalist elites, most of whom are at minimum an atheist, at worst luciferian, is very unwise of any church or church leader. In this way I completely distrust the pope’s discernment. Protect the children first. Abolish international child self trafficking, child labor, child poverty. Let us repent of those core evils. From that place of healing, we will see clearly to see the environment healed. Giving acquiescence to globalist satanic agendas of depopulation, social credit score, carbon tax and transhumanism is where Pope Francis is guilty. I will not eat the bugs, live in a fifteen minute city and be ruled over by big brother.

I really enjoyed this lecture and I'm glad a white American is empowered enough to finally talking about this. This is much appreciated! I'm not shocked about the number of views. I'm also a scholar and I've been traveling back and forth from the United States south to Brazil since 2006. In 2018, after completing my MFA, I traveled to Brazil as a Fulbright scholar after having been awarded a grant to study signs and symbols in Bahia. I must say, when I first saw Our Lady of Aparecida in Museu Afro Brasil in São Paulo, I was shocked! I knew nothing about black saints before traveling to Brazil. These are discussions that are not had in the black communities down south, albeit at family reunions or in the barbershops. All the churches in the U.S. south, specifically, in the Carolinas, if there was any depictions of saints or angels, they were 'only' white. There was this strange hybridity in the black churches because I remember depictions in artwork on the walls and in the stained glass. Some churches in the countryside had art while others were as bare as the driven snow. Just from childhood experience, I think that some of the black baptist churches were inherited legacy orthodox churches because inside those churches were the extremely eurocentric depictions of Jesus Christ, Mary, The Last Supper and various depictions of Moses and the Ark. Basically, I can't help but to come to the conclusion that if you see yourself as a servant then you may (or will) act like one, if you see yourself as royalty, then you may (or will) act like one, if you see yourself as a saint then you may (or will) act like one. If you see yourself as 'free' then you may (or will) act like a freeman or freewoman.

OK. 2 minutes in and already some erroneous assumptions. The mendicant lifestyle was common before Francis came along and during his lifestyle. Also, it's an assumption to claim that franciscanism is THE Gospel lifestyle.

Actually, Catholic religious sisters are on the increase worldwide. The decline is confined to the liberal religious communities in the western world.
