Narrative Psychology and Jungian Psychoanalysis: Why your Ego is caught up in Illusions
🔥 In this video I will connect narrative psychology and Jungian psychoanalysis to discuss the three levels of debt that your mind is entangled with. This will help us understand why your Ego is caught up in Illusions in its interaction with other people and the world in general. I will use debt as a metaphor to capture the ego's embeddedness in reality and offer the perspective of Narrative Psychology and Jungian Psychoanalysis to explain how to untangle this web of debt and the illusions of the ego.

About the Channel
In my videos, I look at Jungian topics through an interpretative lens, advancing themes discussed by Carl Jung along trajectories of psychology, psychoanalysis, theology and philosophy. Exploring Carl Gustav Jung’s model of the psyche, his concept of individuation, and his philosophy in general may help us to uncover paths toward a more full and complete Self. For me, this is especially about “learning to see”, that is, regaining the ability to witness the dynamics of reality unfolding before us. In these dynamics, I argue throughout the videos, we find a direct access to who we become.

Jungian Psychoanalysis and Individuation: The Self as a Rupture of the Ego

How to Change the World through The Heros Journey Explained
Is falling in love always projecting an anima?
One may say so. It depends on the specific relationship I guess.
@DrFlorianKleinau mine last love was girl therapist in a group. I wasn't her client. It was a open group for some volunteers. I entered it just to participate. And I don't see therapists in group as my superiors or my psychologists if I didn't choose them or hire due to my experience and knowledge in such "activity". I know how to create and sustain thepeutic dynamics myself. So then I fell in love with her. And after 4 sessions I left the group and after 1 month I asked her out knowing the ethics problem is there for her. She didn't say no immediately) she said she need to consult with supervisor. It was rare event seems and after 8 months she replied "no". Ofc I thought of anima projection. But still I feel that love was and is authentic. We might fit each other perfectly. Next group I had I didn't fall in love with anyone even in another therapist girl. So it's not about her therapist status. It's about something deeper. Sad story of I didn't have a chance with her due to ethics and I didn't have chance to meet her otherwise. Shakespeare would cry)
Is there short summary of what you said in the video?
hello Dr.! so is idea of debt formed by the subjective unconscious? is the goal to release that and move more into the collective unconscious? and is that individuation? a fascinating topic here
I would say debt is located in the personal unconscious and the ego attempts to protect itself from that. In this attempt a kind of tension builds. The ego wants to retain its fictional autonomy. I would call this hubris because “reality” lies in the debt owed. The collective unconscious would even be a level below that.

i've always considered Jung as an independent source who validates mankind's religious principle. Campbell also. and i'm sooo digging that science now is saying that the material world is only there when being observed by consciousness. ha!!

for me those numinous 'entanglements' are like a glimpse of eternity in space time. otherwise in dealing with people at work, family, etc. i find some conflict with people putting expectations/demands on me that i am expected to fulfill. my response coming out of my center is 'hell no i am not your doormat'. also Dr. are primal desires/ animal instincts emerging from the ego or the Self? i always try to check myself on that.

Another great lecture Dr., thanks! At this point in my life I realize that I am (we all are, I think) witnessing a Great Mystery as we journey thru life. with all of it's twists and turns. I can't tell you how many times I thought I had it figured out, only to have those ideas toppled by life and having to start over again. Yet underlying all of this I know there is Calm, there is Peace, there is Serenity......The Self. Everyone who looks inward is seeking that, I believe.....and in the end we will find it❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Thanks Marco, I appreciate your continuing support and insights.
@@DrFlorianKleinau Anytime my bro. You are a good man.
The collective unconsciousness of a Cat... or does the Cat just have thirty-six variables, for outwardly expressing itself within the limitations of being a cat... which are common to all cats. Is the idea of a 'collective unconscious' axiomatic of the limitations of being a bipedal ape creature. Various levels of self-deception mask the simplicity of the human animal. For complexity diminishes any possibility of being purely an automaton - within a limited set of external variables in expressing itself. Everything humans grasp at achieving is a war against meaninglessness. Humanities self-proscribed purpose is to create meaning. Humanities defining characteristic is story-telling. Jungian psychology is literature, a sort of bible for making up stories. Stories which are vital in humanities own continuing evolution of self-deception.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! You raise some interesting points about the role of storytelling and meaning-making in human evolution, as well as how we interpret concepts like the collective unconscious. It’s definitely a thought-provoking take on Jungian psychology and its connection to our search for purpose.
As an analogy the collective unconscious could be compared to the firmware of a computer. Whatever operating system you put on the machine, it has to work within the firmware that was there before the system loaded.
Well said but then again, the operating system may choose to go against the firmware but the firmware always comes back, so to speak. :)
Thanks very informative
Thanks, Marco!

As soon as you mention and quote Jordan Peterson, the rest of the content becomes suspect and fully tainted. Therefor, this channel is a hard pass due to the toxicity and of your source material.
Only if all voices are heard, no one voice can be tyrannical.
@@DrFlorianKleinau That is a fallacy. Look up the paradox of Tolerance. Peterson himself had openly admitted (I'll paraphrase) that he was saying inflammatory things to become famous. Peterson and some of the ideas he spouts is a cancer on society. Your quote essentially states that we should listen to and give a voice to white supremacists, white nationalists, christian nationalists, murderous dictators, rapists, child molesters and so on. No.. . Not all voices should be given a soapbox, to be heard by all. "A tolerant society must limit intolerance to prevent its own destruction". I don't have to listen to someone who quotes someone as toxic as Peterson. For me, that is a major red flag and makes the rest of the content and the creator's line of thinking, suspect. Again, not all voices SHOULD be given platform to be heard.

How would you phrase this differently. I don’t think is really clicking for me at all
Well, … simply put for psychoanalysis consciousness would be what do you think you are - that is your ego - while he would claim that what you really are is largely based in the unconscious which is not what you think you are - so you have to get to know you unconscious in order to get to know yourself beyond what you think you are
The Great Story and personal story. I believe it provides proper nutrients to the cosmic mother tree if we consider the collective reality as more truth than our personal ones. Bring back the cosmic truth of life death rebirth. Remedying the apathy towards empathy.
Thank you for your comment, very well said!
Hi Dr, I very much like your video. It's great to be able to watch someone who thinks in a like manner as I do and certainly someone of such great experience. I am 23 and I was admitted to the mental hospital of UHG in Ireland last year for a duration of one week. Anyway I am looking to pursue a life that is in alignment with what is worth seeking. I often find I can become obsessive and lost and closed minded. More than anything I desire to be a doctor myself. However I am unsure on the avenue to take to get there. I have a big interest in Psychology and of Mental health hospitals. My mind is thinking of studying general medicine and there is a pathway to that via my undergraduate degree. However something, perhaps an unconscious force in me, doesn't feel like I have identified the right career path that is most suited to me and that I would achieve my deepest desires and experiences. I feel very doubtful and I want not to rush into making a decision on it. Anyway I feel lost but I am on the right path. I am currently in Australia and I plan on returning to Ireland at the end of my two years here. Thank you for you're videos. I think they may prove important for me personally.
This sounds like a very complex situation. In the end I think such decisions should be evaluated from both sides, consciousness and the unconscious. If there is a conscious reason why the unconscious desire cannot be fulfilled this is as important as the unconscious resistance against what consciously would feel good.perhaps meditating on this more will help or perhaps trying out the profession that you desire would help you get a better feeling of it that is working in mental hospitals for instance… I wish you all the best on your Pass and thank you for supporting the Channel!
very good talk Dr. and so true...... it is quite hard on the ego to realize that ultimately, it must take this journey THROUGH space and time yet not hold on to anything...at all. all is in flux and fleeting here. and yet, to quote Teresa of Avila: Let nothing disturb you let nothing frighten you all things are passing GOD never changes be patient, and at the last you will find all fulfillment hold GOD and nothing will fail you for HE ALONE IS ALL it can be a hard walk, but there is truth in what you are saying🙏❤💥
A wonderful poem, thank you for sharing!

Hey man, just stumbled upon the video on the connection between the self and collective unconscious, followed by this one A couple of remarks: There's a weird reverberation that doesn't make it pleasant to hear compared with other podcasts Your speech is way too loose, this is the level of language that's ok in informal settings. You sound like what me and my friends would exchange over a beer or coffee. Lots of redundancy, you could sum up Overall you need to refine your thought or maybe compensate with editing work. You present yourself as a pro, you've got to walk the walk then The intention of vulgarization Jungian thought is good Good luck!
Thanks a lot for your feedback! I will try to improve on the points you mentioned. In more recent videos that are yet to be uploaded I have a much better audio set up with the proper Maik and everything and I think I was also able to improve the structure little bit, although I would like to maintain an informal setting because in the end I think the videos for me are more of a dialogue than a formal lecture setting but again, I will have to improve massively and I’m still in the baby steps … so your comment is really appreciated
U should consider what Jung ment with the quadterity above or below trinity 💚🍯🚪
I’ll look into that ! Thanks a lot
I think you're right! Have you read The Wholeness of Nature by Bartoft? I chatacterize Ego-Self relationship not just as a relationship between part and whole, but rather the ego's sense and its openness to the call is a how the psyche becomes authentic.
I haven’t. Great recommendation - thanks a lot, I’ll look into it. Do you have any other recommendations ?
@DrFlorianKleinau I'm slowly reading the red book at the moment and it's very revealing. I'm a Sanskritist though , perhaps we can have a fruitful dialogue. Are you in Germany too?
My apologies if this is a dumb question. Where is one supposed to start with all this stuff? I have a lot of anxiety as well as other, normal, mental challenges. I see a number of videos and I find it hard to understand what the starting point for most of this stuff.
