I ride a Yamaha Raider and Triumph Rocket 3GT (2022), and sometimes talk about my struggles with anxiety and depression.
My poor decision making skills are your entertainment.
I also like to meet up with other motorsports enthusiasts, whether they be on 4-wheelers, sports cars, rat rod trucks, other types of motorcycles...whatever the motorsports passion, I find them all interesting!

Why I go to Maggie Valley Every Year || Triumph Rocket 3 GT || Yamaha Raider
Every year I head to Maggie Valley, NC for the annual South East Raider Rally. I rode my Triumph Rocket 3 GT this year. Had a blast seeing familiar faces and a few new ones. Was sad saying goodbye to our friend "Roadkill" who started it all, but we look forward to keeping his legacy going by continuing the rally. It was originally created for Yamaha Raider enthusiasts but has grown into a reunion with friends that LOVE TO RIDE. No vendor tents here. Just riding/eating/partying! If you are interested in going, The next dates are on the official rally site: raiderrally.com/index.html

Saying Goodbye || Gary "Roadkill" Bohler || Yamaha Raider
Переглядів 659Рік тому
Saying goodbye to a friend is never easy. Gary Bohler, aka "Roadkill" is responsible for many long-lasting friendships that have formed over the 15 years of the South East Raider Rally. Originally created to celebrate the Yamaha Raider, it grew to be more about friendship and family. He will truly be missed. We will work to keep his legacy alive.

Please consider joining us next year at the 15th anniversary of the rally (in Maggie Valley, NC). My Yamaha Raider has been down for a couple of months while I waited for parts to make a few repairs. (Replaced the stator, fuel sending unit, some o-rings, gaskets, spark plugs, battery, etc.) Now I'm back on it and wanted to start a new thing: Telling some ridiculous (and often embarrassing) life stories while riding the bike. Welcome to Story Time With G

Nice video. PM for collabs.
I was digging around online and wasn't having much luck finding anything out about these Raider Rallies, but it sure looks like a lot of fun. If you have any info you could share... I'd appreciate it, thanks! Love your videos!
@@davidmcchargue8427 there’s a Facebook group that keeps info going for the rally in Maggie Valley. Unfortunately, due to hurricane devastation in the area, I’m not sure what the status will be for the 2025 rally. facebook.com/share/g/by8WucuaPXf5KQzi/?mibextid=K35XfP

Thx I love this video I also travel with my dog Pepper and need a CPAP machine
Thanks for watching. I hope you and Pepper have had great adventures
Thank you
Hey budd. How's the Triumph Rocket 3 treating you since you've had it?
Hey! It’s been great. I had some minor concerns early on (failed wheel bearing way too early in its life due to a bad install at factory), and it does eat up oil. (Such a large displacement, and I’ve been told by multiple shops it is normal). But those are minor things in the big scheme. I LOVE this bike. It handles like a dream. I’m not as proficient with it in low speed police rodeo style maneuvers yet, but I’ll get there. Thanks for asking!
Can you confirm the year of slipper clutch arrival?
I believe it was 2013
Hey where is the regulator located on the bike?
Does anyone know if the vance and hines is quieter than the freedom performance sharp radius 2 into 2
My guess is that the V&H is quieter. Maybe try asking at roadstarraider.com. There are a lot of long time owners there with lots of experience.

It's so kool to see you ride though my back yard. I don't go to Oklahoma due too there roads are worse than ours here in poor boi Arkansas. However I yet to conquer the Ozarks, but plan to do so in the Spring of 2024. Just not used to 100mile tank range.
I'm having trouble locating a Vance and Hines Exhaust for my 2009 Raider, any suggestions would be appreciated. I just moved from CA to the country and well, I dusted off the bike with only 4,000 miles on it and it's a blast. Goes through gas like crazy because I just can't stay off the throttle listening to that rumble of the stock exhaust, BUT I WANT MORE!
I wish I had some advice. With this bike out of production, most of the aftermarket products are no longer available. Best bet is to ask in Raider user groups like roadstarraider.com or on Facebook. Best of luck! Enjoy that beast.
Wow 💯
What year is your bike did they fix that after the earlier models.I have a 2013 Roadliner same engine. I have had it for 6 months only had 3100 miles on it.
I have a 2008 with about 120,000 miles on it as of today. It's not really something that's been "fixed" by Yamaha, or even is worthy of a recall...it's just something worthy of checking if you're already doing some maintenance.
@@the7thletter444 Thank you for the heads up.Its one of the great things about youtube
@@davidnowhere2637 thanks for watching
Great vid. Wat type of bag u hav there on the tank?
Thanks for watching. I’m sorry I don’t recall what brand it was. Maybe a Bilt or Cortech. I had it for about 14 years though and the zipper finally blew out a few months ago.
@@the7thletter444 ok cool. Thanks
I’ve had mine for a few years and have never checked this. I’ll do it next riding season. Thanks for the warning!
I’ve known several people that said theirs was loose. Probably small percentage, but considering it is a very quick thing to check, it’s worth doing. Thanks for watching!
Ah neither of them know how to ride with the chief sping like that the yamaha would have won had he fully gased it after he got rolling and would have reved it a little higher and not been that scared of losing or spining the tiers just a little higher i got the 2008 s model and raced some what of the same build chief in the 1/4 it was my good old racing buddys dad's bike i pulled of head but not by much 1 or 2 bikes
The Indian in this video is more performant than the Raider in this video, regardless of anyone's skill. Indian had a bad launch (couldn't get lock up at first). But it's all just for fun anyway.
Well the Yama almost had won and if he would have done what I thought he should have I think he would have won it and yes I understand the Indians spine and that's why the radar almost w o n but I think it could have been one for the Raider had a boy had a little bit more launch experience
Plus build the Raider equally as far as mods and it would b e a t the chief
What issues have you experienced in 113k miles? I've read about starter relay, starter, fuel sensor, and fuel pump issues after many miles. Thanks.
Hey thanks for watching. The fuel pump housing cracked at around 70,000 miles. Since then I learned to baby it by filling up between 100-120 miles and that keeps fuel around the housing, keeping it cool. Fork seals replaced a couple of times, the seal around the clutch rod was leaking at one point, but replaced that. All-in-all - it's been a great bike. Thanks for watching!
Possibly the worst video editing I’ve ever seen.
The Triumph Rocket you have will of course leave either of them in the dust. Not even a challenge, I have run against both. Its a joke.
Well of course. That was never in question! 😈
I have the 2013 raider s. Had it for almost 10 years. Nothing but fluid changes and tires. Never getting rid of it
Smart move. These are solid bikes and will last many years if taken care of!
Desde Panamá saludos
What would be the tightening torque?
Humm! i don't know we never saw the end result, that Yamaha Raider was of the line like a lightning, I have a 2013 Raider and the 2023 Indian Sport Chief
The Indian took it for sure. He just had a rough start because he couldn’t get traction. He quickly passed the Raider. I’m sure they will line up again next July! I will try to get better angles.
Great reminder of this great annual event that we've had the pleasure of attending 5 times since the start all the way from the UK.. Thanks Gary
And it's always nice to see you all!
Love it
I need to get out and do more of this kind of content.
Sweet!
Hey bro! Thanks for watching.
Awesome video brother. Like a boss! 🤣
That part had me cracking up as I was editing. Thanks for watching bro!
Dang brother that’s freaking awesome!!! That video reminds me of the show Ride with Norman Reedus , your Commentary is spot on too , especially the family reunion part !!
Thanks bro! That means a lot.
I know this video was posted a long time ago but hope you will respond. My wife has a Vstar 1300 Deluxe and complains all the time about the clutch. Is that some sort of pull reducer that on the left handlebar?
Yes indeed. Had to play with it a bit to get it right, but works great.
Great video! Definately a great time with everyone. Can't wait till next year !!
Thanks. Same here!
Awesome video and awesome times hanging out every year with the raider family
Can't wait to do it again!
dang. i can only get 2.5 nights with my jackery 160, that is with a 12volt cord. so it is a cord that goes from the cpap to an 8mm port on the jackery. i have a dreamstation.
2.5 nights is still great though. Especially if you're just doing a weekend. If you can, try to find a way to charge the Jackery from the bike while riding. That will give you a much longer trip. Thanks for watching.
@@the7thletter444 i'm hiking with all of that.
@@robertuffman3041 oh gotcha! Well hopefully these newer solar panels starting to release will prove more powerful and compact enough to use on the trail. Thanks for watching and best of luck!
113k is pretty good
up to 120k now - I only take it out a couple of times a month. My Rocket 3GT is my daily now.
What tent is that ?
That is a Kazoo ultralight 2 person backpacking tent, that I've modified by adding a shelf from another tent and a hook line. Thanks for watching!
I need some advice about recharging the battery using the bike's electronics. I ride a DR650 or a DRZ400. Not that the bike type matters much.
Hey thanks for watching. I have a pigtail installed on my bike's battery (for charging it when I don't ride for a few days). It's a direct connection to the battery, so it works both ways. I wouldn't recommend using it to charge CPAP when the bike is not being ridden, but when it is, there should be plenty of charge. I just had to purchase a cable that goes from the SAE style connector on my pigtail to the type that fits my battery pack that I use to run the CPAP from.
Hey man! What’s the song that starts at the 7:42 mark? Great vid!
Hey thanks for watching. That is a track I got from the stock music library at Storyblocks. This track is called “Gypsy Guitar Happy Cooking”. Cheers
So a built Indian vs pretty much stock Yamaha? Yeah ok
Haha! It’s just 2 of my friends that were talking shmack against each other so we filmed an impromptu street race. All in fun.
How is the Indian "built"?
Truly sorry for the loss of your friend. May he RIP.

Thank you for the Video Think about him everyday.
I have a 2014 Raider.....it doesn't matter to me who takes it in the end, I wouldn't trade my bike for the world!!!
Yep! Ride what you brought. We had all kinds of bikes riding together in Maggie Valley at the Raider Rally.
You must have not ever been on a Triumph Rocket 3.
The Raider with its 113/1854, just under 100 horsepower and 124 lbs of torque. The Challenger has a 108/1769 and 128 lbs of torque rated at 122 horsepower, I'm thinking the Challenger will take the win but I hope the Raider does! lol
Only time will tell! See you at 3:00pm CST I hope. (It's a short video)
I personally use the Raider to Cruise and enjoy the views. If I fancy racing I take the MT10 out.
@@zozoa1 Absolutely. Was interesting to see how these two bikes did against each other though.
I still have my '06 Stratoliner S, as you know it has the same engine as the Raider. I've been looking at Indian for the last year now. Gotta finish paying off a camper first though...
@@dangalli1 if I were sticking with the cruiser/bagger thing I’d definitely do it. Several friends have bought challengers and love them, but I’ve planted both feet in the Triumph pool currently.
