I am a firm supporter of animal rights as opposed to animal welfare, due to ideological flaws in the welfare movement. I'm an advocate for abolitionism and intrinsic value for animals outside of being objects for human use. But I do agree with some of the points you made. I do think anthropomorphism can be beneficial in some instances but it's a matter of properly identifying animal behavioral characteristics instead of misinterpreting them. Animals already have the ability to percieve pain, display emotions, and emote them in their own right. That's not something we can or should deny. Identifying the ways they express a resentment to suffering is critical. We have to bear in mind that traits we think are positive expressions in animals may be negative and vice versa, and how we identify them impacts how we treat them.

I knew someone who had a hamster. One time, a family member of his (young kid) picked it up while it was in its ball and threw it. Thankfully the hamster survived, but it’s absolutely terrible and could’ve been avoided.

It kills me that people always seem bring up "not anthropomorphizing animals" when I bring up that we owe it to animals to not torture and eat them when we have the capacity to avoid doing so.

Hey Critter city my cage is 31 inches and a half long and 29 inches wide that's plenty of space for any hamster.Because if what your saying is true,then 1 human bed foom would be its cage. I'm not going to provide a hamster a room of their own.

Thank you for posting this. My two girls don't wash their tails and I always had hard time cleaning them, because the dirt was hard to remove and that stressed my girls. I hope this will make them feel better and help me to clean their tails properly.

I used to feed my white rats to my snakes. And then every so often there would be one that I just couldn't separate myself from. They were like dogs. They had the most complex personalities. It was like finding an Einstein rat. Biological and sociological perspective is a very important. I also found the same behavior in Arachnids. Scorpions and spiders can also be just as smart and even in some cases smarter than rats. The common denominator is compassion. They can all feel compassion. And then they act upon it. Love life.
