Many of these photos come from the collection of Augustus Sherman, Chief Registry Clerk on Ellis Island. Sherman was an gifted amateur photographer who brought his camera to work. He captured images of immigrants in colorful native costume. These photos can be found on History.com. The drone footage is taken by the Dronalist, whose work can be found elsewhere on UA-cam. The final scene is from ...

David Betts in Greece

David Betts was the same age I am now, in his late 50's, when I met him at the Greek Bible Institute in the suburbs of Athens, in 1990. He was a part time- very part time- literature evangelist for the mission I was connected to, the Hellenic Missionary Union. He was living in an unplumbed, unheated stone cottage on a hillside on the island of Skopelos with a little white dog which had a very p...

Nice video that represents so many different cultures. The USA is a romantic ideology. It is not perfect but it is what humanity aspires to be.

Those who have been born & raised in this country, which our ancestors risked so much in order to ensure their families futures, should be grateful that they chose not to raise their family wherever they were escaping. America may not be perfect but it's still better than so many alternatives.

This song encompasses the real promise of America. No matter if your ancestors fled a famine in Ireland, anti-Semitic persecution in Europe, the killing fields of Pol Pot in Cambodia,Castro's murderous regime in Cuba, anytime, anywhere this country has always been a bastion of hope for all seeking a better life.May she forever remain so.God Bless America!

This video is lovely and inspiring.. depicting good people from around the world.. yearning to be free and being able to better themselves. But that is the PAST. The reality of what is going on now is that we have the scum of the earth flooding into the USA to cash in on social welfare programs and engage in underhanded and criminal enterprises. This happened in the past in a very limited and organized way - organized crime. Now, what was the exception is now the rule! In the past, we had an influx of good people with a few bad apples. Now.. we get an influx of bad apples with a few good people!

Thank you so much for sharing this video on UA-cam. It tore at my heart when my great great great grandparents arrived in Ellis Island and migrated to Texas. The odd thing was my GGG grandfather totally embraced becoming an American and its culture, but my GGGgrandmother’s heart remained loyal to her motherland and taught her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all her country’s songs and legends. When the last of their children moved away to their own lives, the GGGgrandfather moved across town to a big house and was the first person in town to have a brand new bathtub installed. Being staunch Roman Catholics, they never divorced but never reconciled their political beliefs and died separately in their own homes. Anyway, thank you for sharing this Neil Diamond song. Cracklin’ Rosie is a gem, also.

Neil Diamond is one of my all time favorites. This was a great video...what a wonderful history lesson! They looked so happy to be arriving in America. This video should be played every single day in schools, work places and especially to the people in government to remind everyone that we are supposed to be the role model of freedom and hope for the future.. Thank you for the time you took to put this together. I so appreciated seeing this video. If you are looking for new groups to react to, I'd like to suggest a group called Home Free. They are billed as a Country Acapella group; however they perform all genres. There are no instruments; however, they do have a champion beatboxer that sounds like he swallowed most of the instruments that make up a band. They perform covers of other artists and also write and perform their own music. If you decide to check them out, start with "Man of Constant Sorrow" and "Ring of Fire" to a feel for their voices. They have amazing voice ranges. They can also be pretty funny without losing the quality of their voices. I hope you decide to check them out.

Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from all the Neil Diamond Fan Clubs because I had this listed on their site.Never Apology of Neil Diamond ;-( USA the Rich and Famous
