Another Busy Friday

A busy Friday at Hangar 3 with lots going on, but the weather soon put a stop to some activities. • Auster AOP Mk 1 ground run and cylinder pressure test. Was to be test flown but weather and a radio problem stopped play. • Adam halfway through his conversion onto the AOP9 and looking good on it. • Chipmunk undergoes ground runs and a test compass swing after plug changes on Delta, prior to a p...

Scout AH1, XT626, was present at the remarkable White Horse Military Show, with pilot Paul Stanton, navigator Chris Ballard, and Dan Frampton. The show, unique in its use of old film and TV sets owned by Richard Dalton, Production Director, recreated villages that echoed the ambiance of their respective eras. Special thanks to Tony from Paints and Pixels for arranging our participation and ensu...

Our Auster Mk1, LB312, is getting closer to be back in the air. Another ground run identified a slight fuel leak and an issue with one of the magnetos, nothing the engineering team cannot deal with. Lovely footage. That actual airframe is the last Sioux he flew, back in 1969.
Great footage. Fond memories of flying in and out of MW and lots of time spent at Thruxton with my dad 👍👍💜💜😊😊
Tea & Medals ☕🎖️👍🏻🇬🇧
✌️👍🤭🤭😀😀
the Bell 47 is just still the most helicoptery light helicopter there is. Beautiful!
Grey video Chris, any chance of some more in flight videos with comms?
fantastic looking aircraft what a joy to watch
Oh dear - Check spelling on last frame!

@@ChickenNugget-dk9hp Thankyou. Very interesting.👍
I’m assuming this is Middle Wallop, think I spotted your Scout as I was walking along the Kennet & Avon canal in Devizes the other day, different from the usual Chinnocks & Apaches
The chipmunk took me back 5 years in the ATC 351 Squadron Burton on Trent I flew many hours in this type, unfortunately quite often you would be following someone who had chundered, nothing like reheated second hand vomit rolling around on a hot day in the cockpit like a greenhouse 😂 all the best keep all the old girls flying
Wonderful, thanks! 👍🏻
@@typhoon2827 👍👍💜💜😊😊
Scout and chip pie what a total Delite where is your hanger…
Charming, Ive been lucky enough to fly in and some stick a rudder time on two of those types. They all sound and look glorious too.
Excellent! "What larks eh Pip?"
I was stationed here 75 - 81
I love these helicopters! ( and the Beaver too). They just bring back a lot of happy memories from my childhood. I still have such a clear image of driving along the A303 with my family back in the 1970's and suddenly realising that a Sioux was flying at car top height alongside us with the crewman waving back to me as I gazed spellbound from the rear passenger window of our car!! Years later, I worked a lot with the little fleet of Bell 47's they had for training at Fairoaks Airport. Never got to fly in one, but on rainy winter days, would sneak off to the hangar on my tea breaks to sit inside one....and dream. 😢
Really enjoying these videos, the inflight audio is great
Nice to see them still flying 👍
Beautiful machines 😍
I just love your aircraft. Long may you all continue to keep these wonderful machines flying.
Charming. M
Nice to see types I remember flying in. Beaver, Auster, Scout and Sioux. I've been lucky enough to flying in them all plus the Alouette 2. I appreciate the work of the HAAF in keeping these old types flying.
Well done mate, I'm very jealous.
I love the Scout. Its distinct rotor sound can be heard well before you can see the aircraft. You know it's on it's way but don't know when it is going to arrive. I went night flying in one and we were at 150 feet when we were underflown by a pair of Luftwaffe Starfighters. Gutersloh tower had assured us the area was clear. When the pilot told them about our event all the controller could saywas "oh the Germans must be playing and haven't informed us"
good to see the videos the aircraft remind me of the family days at Netheravon and middle wallop fantastic
Thanks for the video, it would be better to use subtitles for the Speech as its very hard to listen to. All the notes at the top are a distraction.
Very lysander
I attended this show for the first time as I have recently moved to the area from Kent.....damn and blast... I missed you as I had to go on the 18th! I would have loved to see you. Next time. On the 17th, I did the Imber bus day.....that was really great fun, if a little bonkers!! 😊
Another great video. Reminds me that my dad had an ex para Corgi bike (we had corgi dogs too), it kept burning holes in his socks, so he sold it🤕😲😀😀 I love the Scout, I was blessed to have a go in one in the late 1990s, fond memories. Looked like a great show, like Eric, I was never out of my special forces bush hat when I was his age too💜✌️👍😊
Any chance of a listen to the Sioux without the background music please? As a small child on the Plain at the start of the 70s, that was the first helicopter I learnt to recognise by its sound alone.
Arakan
Great skills demonstrated in the ‘flying brick.’ Memories of 655 Sqn AAC in the 1970’s
Went up in a Sioux the first week at MW like flying in a gold fish bowl, getting them on to their wheels was fun needed a sturdy grip otherwise the bar would fly off.
Never flew in a Scout always Gazelles, the Scouts always appeared to be like flying Landrovers. 😂😂
Nice beaver.
Why the annoying music!!??
Odiham was my first posting after completing my fire training at Caterick fire school on days off used to go up on jollies with 72/303 sqn in the Wessex/puma choppers in 1971 does anyone remember SWO Jack Holt he was a pain in the ass to us enlisted airmen billet /bed pack full inspections after14months got posted to a propper air station RAFScampton with the Vulcans loved that camp and the craic with the lads on the fire station good days long gone but will never be forgotten
It’s a beaver ! 😂
The gorgeous 626 playing in my old back yard. I miss Wallop!
Wonderful. Thanks for this. It's been a while since I was at Odiham. I was surprised to see that for such a chunky looking aircraft on the outside, the Beaver looks very 'cozy' on the inside! Very tight for two across the front and looked even tighter on the back seats. I used to see them flying in and out of RAF Thorney Island as a child when I used to sail from there with my father. Happy days!😊
Nice to see this. I was there on Friday (volunteering with Blackbushe Heritage Trust). We had a great day, seems you did also
Ahhhh Odi...my last camp 90 to 92 ex MT driver. Loved that camp, thanks for sharing Pongo's 👍🏻
the pictures take me back to the family days at Middle wallop and Netheravon
Those vintage Aircraft are just a joy to see in such excellent condition.
The music is terribly distracting and completely unnecessary.
We flew these in Belize in ‘79 doors removed for air conditioning 🙄
why music?
How old is this video? Or is this from the Army Air Corps Historic Flight?
Very neat, wonderful to see another take to the air - although not of GB origins, GB heritage aviation often seems forgotten, by tptb, eroded as it has been since 1945. Hasn't Henry Cole, the TV presenter, got one of these now too, I believe it's airworthy, based near to Brize? Reminds me that there was an airworthy Canberra at Kemble, two sat there rotting away now😕 Heartwarming seeing the work you guys are doing, in memory of those who served Great Britain.
I love seeing these old work horses flying again in the same condition as when they were built. Great effort guys 👍👍
Really interesting video that. I was lucky enough to fly into MW a couple of times with my dad. I also had friends stationed there. I was also lucky - circa 1998 - to "fly" and have a ride in a Scout (ex Hong Kong 660 Squadron if I recall). Always hankered after learning to fly one properly (I built a lot of models of military helicopters as a kid, loved the Gazelle, Sea King, Wessex, Westland et al too). Ive also had a few flights in an Auster (and a bit of hands and feet on, stick and rudder, time too). Again if I recall, theres a very similar, side by side machine in the excellent museum at Old Sarum too. Thanks for sharing and the subtitles/audio👍💜✌️👍
