'Wordplay' was an excellent episode and part of that is the universality of the story, as living in a world where everyone else at first seems to have aphasia would be terrifying-only to find out that you have to relearn the meanings of every word you want to speak and understand. The other factor in the power of the episode is the masterful direction that conveys the sense of one's grasp of communication crumbling away. This and the 'Nightcrawler' are the two episodes of the 1980s series that I shall always remember.

Where was I in the 80s???!!! I watched them ALL in the 60s. I even own a few!! Must have been too busy raising the stepchildren. 😮 I have a few favorites but don't recall the names. Burgess Meredith who just wanted to read. A radio announcement that aliens have landed and invaded. All the inhabitants of a neighborhood start accusing one another of being the aliens. Agnes Moorehead Robert Redford and many others who went on to become stars. The two that I described are worth watching if you've never seen them. Very moving.

TRIVIA QUIZ: What is the connection between the 80s TWILIGHT ZONE and STAR TREK?

  •  2 місяці тому

I won't argue with your selections in the top 20, however I feel TO SEE THE INVISIBLE MAN and NIGHTCRAWLERS were left out.I am haunted to this day by the ex Viet Nam vet screaming out,"Charlie's in the light!"

I absolutely love this 80s version as I was a kid in the 1980s, I’m in the uk so I never understood the war ones about Vietnam. Other good ones I’ve always liked are “The card”, “The library”, “Aqua vita” & “”It’s still a good life”

I still remember watching it with my brother, and we were shocked by the ending. However, in all fairness, use of "The" implies there is only one , a single shadow man. I recall the 2nd shadow man says he is "a" shadow man. That seems like cheating, going from 'the' to 'a'.

The one about the truck driver taking people to Hell also has 2 Star Trek actors. John de Lancie who's best known as Q and the blue eyed guy in the truck near the end, you only see his eyes through the slats as he talks, that's Brent Spiner AKA Lt. Com. Data.

This one is a mixed bag for me overall I think its decent I like the movie but I want to like it more. The film has great gothic visuals and Wilcox performance as Alice is good the movie simply doesn't have enough kills and is a bit to somber also despite the more Gothic tone Freddy himself had more 1 liners during parts of the movie and these are Freddys weakest 1 liners of the series just because theres to many at once during the Dan bike death scene. The development for the father is well done going from douche to good guy this movie is more focused on female themes and female issues then being an entertaining slasher which I tbink makes it feel to somber at times. I do think a female audience will probally enjoy this one more then the nale audience because the film itself focuses on female issues more.

Thank you! This is actually my favorite movie in the series and for all the reasons you are saying! The score, the dream sequences, the kills, the dark gothic tone! Super under-rated! There's something very menacing about Freddy in this one, despite people saying he's or it's silly. I never got that and I also love his makeup in this!
