Great tutorial! Lots of useful information and well explained🤩 Thank you!
Do you wear eye protection?
I think the dye powder stays in the air floating for much longer so I believe you should use the extra protection for longer as well.
That thumbnail looks like a Blueberry Cobbler 😊
Thank you for this clear concise tutorial. I am interested in dying Tussah silk. I am aware that silk is generally an animal protein fiber. As I'm sure you know Tussah is made from the short fibers after the worm has left, therefore not having any animal fibers. What I'm wondering, however is if the dying process is still the same given the fact that even though it's not animal protein, I'm wondering if it is a plant-based protein substance nonetheless, and still requires the same or similar dying process as the animal protein based mulberry silk?!
Very detailed instructions, thank you!
Those are hanks, not skeins.
Using a milk frother is genius! Seeing this process step by step is so hekpful. Thank you!
Thankyou for this series. This is excellent. Would this method work for wool balls and will the dye be permanent?
Wish you could have the dried yarn at the end to show the true color effect. the color of the wet yarn is different from the final product.
Thank you
Hi, Pat here. Is there any way to remove acid dye from wool. I mistakenly mordanted my wool with aluminium sulphate before using the acid dye it is washing out big time and wondered if you have any tips to remove the lot. Appreciate any tips. Thanks
I really appreciate this series. I'm very interested in dying my own fibre and couldn't find many detailed videos, but yours are absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ❤🥰
Thorough review! Thanks! How about the cords? I have a set of a different brand of interchangeable knitting needles that have a plastic coated metal cord and the cord keeps breaking near the connection point on the needle and cord. How durable are the cords?
Hi, I want to paint on silk using these dyes. How much vinegar should I add to an 8% stock solution if I make 100ml of it by mixing 8 grams in 100 ml of water. Also should I use hot water to mix the dye or normal water will do? TIA
Is this super washed yarn?
Do you steam set it or is it useless ?
What is the name of the cleaning product you mentioned using in the bath?
When I start dyeing my fibers for spinning my children say I've gone Picasso Loved watching you create and go Picasso ❤
It’s turned out beautiful!
I want to buy the purple set that come in the case for my birthday, but it is $124. I want to know if they will break before I spend that kind of money. I don't usually use wood or plastic. I usually use metal because I am so paranoid of the needles breaking.
You are a very good, straightforward teacher. Thank you!
I’m curious why you wouldn’t just put the beaker on the scale and zero it out and add the powder to the beaker? Or zero out the scale with the jar of powder on it and measure a negative grams measurement as you spoon directly into the jar you’re going to store it in? Why can’t you measure into the jar and just shake it well to mix?
Great video
Thank you so much for stressing the absolute importance of respiratory safety! I see so many videos made by people who are cavalier about the need to be safe using this stuff. Kudos to you!!!
Do you have to store the dye in glass? Can you use plastic?
Instead of the top of the scale, I put the container I mix the dye in on the scale , less to wash
I would like a solid color in the fiber I am using for the project I want to do if I keep stirring it for the hour would I have a solid color?
I’m also going to try stirring for a solid colour. Did it work? I will try to remember to let you know how it goes!!
Why not just put the beaker on the scale and tare it, and measure the dye directly into the beaker? Seams like creating something to wash by using the lid and transferring the dye powder. Not to mention sending more dye particles floating and losing it in your stock solution.
thank you, these videos are so helpful.
Thank you for this video. I love the colors and appreciate that you told us their names so we can find them.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I can’t tell you how many videos and books I’m ashamed to have consumed 😅 None of them covered this technique as thoroughly as you have. Many thanks from Kentucky 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I want to dye, but I'm really insecure about the process, you show it very well. The colour I'm looking for is also a tonal colour, so, I am grateful for your help!
Bonjour je decouvre le podcast et le processus de teinture fascinant ! Vous ne faites plus de video? Dommage… j’adore !je me rejouissais de voir des nouvelles couleurs …. Du vert par exemple :-() merci
What about dubbing or voice over?
How do you know how much of that dye solution to add to the dyebath? Say what you are dying is 50g?
How do you know what % dye stock you need . Can I not just add the dye straight on the fibre . ? I’m wanting to dye some Nepps
Nice explanation!
thanks😭
I had ordered this set also, but the needles were too long to use with a 16” cable. The case also smelled terrible! I sent it back to Michaels and ordered a knitters pride zing special interchangeable set. I am very happy with the new set. Thank you for your review.
Beautiful colour! Thank you for these videos! One question … If I choose to use vinegar instead of citric acid, how much would I need to use. Is it just equal amounts of citric acid to vinegar replacement?
Great video! Is there a way to use acid dye to paint a wool jacket using a brush or a sponge or similar? I was thinking of trying it and then hear it up with a steamer to set it. Would that work?
I am so glad to see a review from someone that has been using them for years. So often reviewers get it in the mail, knit a swatch and call it done. Durability over time is a big deal when it comes to the tools for any craft and you can't see what that will be it you don't have the time in using the items.
Would this technique work for dying brassy white goat fiber?
Would this technique work for dying brassy white goat fiber?
Thank you so much for this!
Thanks! I wonder what are the differences between cable colors? (Green, purple and black)
I'm new what brand dye was this ... also how long will dye stock last once made up and stored in jar ...
I love that color I villl try it ....
Wow right place right time. Thank you for this series.
