Lived through the AIDS epidemic as a late teen/early university student. I remember the fear and shame. I lost friends. But, that was when life began for me. The ending of this hits home, remembering so many friends that lost their lives, living in fear and shame. I made it by the grace of God, but I always cry when I hear this song.

This one time I was simping hard foe my ex and worked with her new girlfriend on my ex's art thing while venting to her about how toxic that ex is. Then we went to her performance art piece about how put out SHE is by gentrification, as an artist, not acknowledging the dozens homeless people profoundly and disastrously affected by the upcoming sweep of "her performance space." Then my ex and her girlfriend joined the friend group at a diner where our buddy's new girlfriend bragged about killing a dog. It's not like the new gf had anything more important going on, she was just representing survivors of sexual assault in court as a lawyer. The older I get, the more I view everyone but Joanne as a villain.
