My channel is dedicated to showcasing some of the underwater world local to me. Many people (locals and visitors) are unaware of what is available to enjoy straight off the beach (for free!), that you don't have to be a diver or free diver to enjoy. Exploring aquatic ecosystems is a great way to feel connected to this planet and to understand first hand what we unwittingly benefit from and dually, what we need to protect. As far as coral reefs are concerned, I have been impressed by what is around. There is so much resilient fringing reef out to explore. For those presently precluded from entering Queensland I am sorry. When the collective confusion ends and you are allowed to visit, this might help you explore. Enjoy!

DJI Mini 3 footage. Sadly the Turtle is missing a front flipper but seems to be compensating well. Video taken at Point Vernon and Torquay.

Moreton Island's Champagne Pools

Experience the bubbles of the Champagne Pools at North Point. I recommend accessing this wonderous place from the eastern beach on a mid-high tide. Western beach access and the yellow patch creek crossing is possible on a low tide only.
Tangalooma Wrecks Moreton Island (Underwater Wonderland)

Underwater snorkeling and kayak footage of the Tangalooma wrecks. Due to strong currents and dicey weather, time spent on the wrecks was limited but still amazing. Another excellent video Kathquatics
Another great video corals looking really clean less algae which patch is this?
Thanks Graeme! The second part was the Gables. The first part is around the Martin Street /Esplanade intersection. There is this small area of coral that is protected by a rock wall. It was very very shallow and difficult to walk out to as the rocks are slippery and muddy. I was stoked about the Gables because the wind conditions have never been quite right when I have tried to go before!
Another great video guys😊
Thanks again!
Another good video guys
Thanks Graeme 🙂
Hi @Kathquatics, amazing video! My partner and I are new in hervey bay would love to go snorkelling when the visibility clears up. Let us know if you need a buddy! Cheers, Matt & Katie
Hi Matt, Sounds like you've moved to the right place! I would be keen, always looking for snorkeling buddies. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for good visibility! - Kat

Hi kathquatics, where abouts is this, Point Vernon somewhere?
Hi this is actually Scarness. Just off low tide in front of the pier and to the right in front of Enzos. There is also a decent patch to the left of the pier at Scarness/Pialba. The beach accessible fringing reef goes from all around Point Vernon to Torquay and you can see it easily on a low tide. Then you need a boat to access the coral reef around Urangan at the islands in the sandy strait.
@@kathquatics5484 thanks so much for the detailed reply, appreciate
Whereis the urangan one filmed Kath?
Approximately across the road from Waterfront Apartments
Have subscribed to your channel and enjoy. Where is the basin please?
Hi Graeme! Thank you. The Basin is at Kelly's beach Bargara. It's just the part sectioned off by rocks. It's nice on a high tide and relatively safe if snorkeling alone.
Do you live in Hervey Bay And do you snorkel or scuba
Yes I'm a HB local. I wish to scuba. I have my certificate but only snorkel for the time being!
If your interested in a snorkling buddy a friend and I go out on the gables occasionally. I’m happy to leave my mobile number here or find me on Facebook just getting over knee surgery so might be a bit slow
