Garden upgrade of 2024, installing two cattle panel trellises. My apologizes as I kept calling them cattle guards in the video. All materials were purchased at tractor supply. Baby quails are a lot of work! Definitely the hardest part is making sure their water is clean! They seem intent on pooping in it lol. I'd be worried about not getting enough ventilation in the tubs with just a crack open on the bottom. Birds especially need a lot of airflow because they have sensitive lungs. I'd also be concerned about the tubs creating a possible greenhouse effect and the quails overheating. Since yours are 2 weeks old or older you can put them straight into the hutch if you want, they don't need supplemental heating at that age. (Unless it's really cold where you are) No hate, just some suggestions! Best of luck to you with your babies! I love quail so much <3

    • @Rootedskyhomestead
      @Rootedskyhomestead Рік тому

      Thank you for these pro tips! The tubs were only one day while setting up an outdoor run for them. And they really do poop a ton! The water systems have been our biggest obstacle so far. Slowly getting reliable systems in place. The lil ones are getting big! Quail really are a dream to have on the homestead.

    The starlings got the east facing tree hole nest this year in my yard. The babies are a riot. I have a water dish on the ground for any and all, but those babies love bathtime! I changed it out so much when they first fledged they just stayed right there for days. They would be remarking when I put new water in. I kept thinking how lucky starling parents are, most kids don’t like baths ❤.
