    Cool video. Dang, all those bars! Crazy compared to today's models. Impressive. What's more impressive is the Weber grill. It's not the Genesis, seems like an original version of the Summit. I did some reviews of the accessories on my channel. Best,

      This one was built on a Wilson combat lower. I typically like to build out the lowers with the trigger groups that I like, then buy the uppers. Since this is mostly a plinking/playing rifle, there is nothing special. Just mil spec, aside from the chambering. Thanks

    I’ve had about 85 or so rifles in the last 50yrs of shooting and hunting. I have never noticed a difference in accuracy by following a recommended break in routine or just shooting and cleaning after several shots. But I have never overheated a barrel. I always bring 2-3 guns and ensure there is a substantial (15mins or so) of cooling between 3 shots.

    Like you I'm not sure the break-in is completely needed but I did it as Bergara suggested and have no regrets. Mine is also 308 and it will shoot one hole 5 shot groups with 155 grain Sierra Palma Match hand loads. Also, you should use a bore guide.

    • @FishingSniper1
      @FishingSniper1 Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and for the comment! I use a Teflon coated rod. No real need for a bore guide in my opinion. If the break in is debatable, using a bore guide is too. With a Teflon rod and soft bristle brush, all is good!

    I’m going to shoot my bergara tomorrow in 22-250. Sight it in with nosler 55gr strike tip then start my handload ladder test . 2 types of pills, 53 gr vmax and 55gr blitz kings. Lapua brass. 5 of each at 34, 35,and 36 grain of varget. Whatever shoots best I’m going with. Then I make some more then zero the flir and then start stacking pasture poodles. I’m out of time for major load development given this late in the year. It’s time to hunt!

      Sounds reasonable! I have an older rem700 in 22-250. It loves Hornady vmax 50 grain. Great round! Very flat, no recoil, great repeatability! Enjoy and good luck out there!

    Is it possible to do a scope mounting yourself without the rifle vice and the mounting kit? Could I just rub the interior of the scope rings with some fine grit sandpaper or a grit sponge?

    • @alloutdoorreview9126
      @alloutdoorreview9126 2 роки тому

      You could possibly do the work without the rifle stand/vice, but you need to be very careful with the type of grit. If you don't have the right size bar to put the grit paste on I would suggest to just not do it. If you rub too much off it will mess up your scope rings. The manufacturing of rings has gotten pretty good in the past years and it may not be worth it to try and do the job without the right equipment... Hope this helps. Everything has pretty tight tolerances. If you go to far it would be out of spec and effect other items...

    • @Rockjock007
      @Rockjock007 11 місяців тому

      that will not work my friend. The idea of the process is to ensure that the rings make even contact with the scope. If you buy better rings that step can be skipped. Some companies will machine from 1 piece of aluminum which is more precise. The flat edge trick is interesting but not ideal. What I do is sue the flashlight trick and a plumb line. Look it up works really well.

    If you like the B-14 HMR you’d love the HMR Premiere with it’s black speckled stock, higher quality stainless steel barrel, bolt, and trigger. It’s definitely worth the extra money.

    • @alloutdoorreview9126
      @alloutdoorreview9126 2 роки тому

      The Premiere is a nice rifle. I was thinking about it, but it's almost twice the cost, and at that price point, I would probably go up to the Fury rifles. I also wanted this series to be more of a basic build. The HMR is more readily available. Thanks for watching and posting. I just loaded the first range day to break in the barrel.
