Darryl the speed is needed to meet the expectations of the drill. This is designed to simulate water supply to areas over 1000’ feet from a positive water source, with out setting up a drop tank operation. You have five minutes from the first line being laid to establishing a 250GPM water flow. Under normal conditions laying lines at that speed is not needed. Total of 2000’ feet laid and water flow established under five minutes. Drill was completed in a controlled environment with safety measures in place. Thank you for your view and comment. Agreed for a normal hose lay. This is a specific drill to meet the ISO standards for establishing a 250 gpm flow for areas beyond 1000 feet from a hydrant.

Hey Pete, the training is geared toward areas inside the city limits that are over 1000ft from a hydrant. The goal is to lay out 2000ft of hose and have a minimum of 250 GPM flowing in under five minutes. Unfortunately we all have to hand load it back on the truck. It goes back on fairly easily with 3 or 4 people!

Thanks Pete, I just use I Movie on the I Pad. I did use the GoPro App to add the speed and Altimeter to this last video.
