True. You can have both and should pursue both. Social ascension, if ethical and based on hard work, is something to aspire to. It's unfortunate that people either vilify it if they are muslims, or feel the need to prioritize materialism over ethical or religious considerations. They are not mutually exclusive. Actually, one can bring up the other and can work in perfect synergy if done well.

This speech deals with descriptivism vs. prescriptivism. In my field, I am called a “grammar Nazi.” Every poor writer I have met defends descriptivism. Educated people in the Humanities have so eschewed grammar that some mistakes are rife and accepted as correct by the very folk who should have been the guardians of grammar (I.e. consider the widespread use of “lay” in place of “lie”). Those who speak with correct grammar are butts of jokes. We are mocked. Sheikh Hamza Yousef makes perfect points. Translation becomes nigh impossible without perfect grammar. I work in the field of grammar and never thought it would become such a minefield.

Grammar does change..I mean even in the English dictionary..it's different to what you expect in Wales 😂but language should never be bibbed but encouraged❤❤

This is the best explanation of the ruling of music as a Muslim. Yes, anything that takes your mind away from the remembrance of Allah (swt) should be avoided and that includes TV, social media and videogames. However, there are some very beautiful and even spiritual musical sounds. I challenge any one of you to listen to the Brazilian Jazz band known as Azymuth or the german DJ/Producer group known as Jazzanova and tell me how that music makes you feel compared to the latest jam on HOT97 radio. Just like a phone can be used to listen to the Quran and learn about the sunnah, it can also be used to expose your sense to the most haram images in existence.

I wonder if this man ever read the works of Sheikh Bawa Muhaiyadeen. He also used the term "monkey mind" as well as "dog of desire"
