I rode BLAZE through all the usual neighborhoods and took pictures of the Halloween decorations. I made this little slide show for you to enjoy and to honor the hard work of all the folks who put up the awesome decorations.

This was a ride of firsts. It was my longest ride to date, fastest ride to date, first police stop, and it pushed me over the 500-mile mark since my purchase of BLAZE. Weather was beautiful and the coolest I've ridden in yet! All-in-all, a fantastic ride.

Another hot, but nice ride. Once again, I messed with the camera position, and I think I like this one. I also figured out what the problem was with the GPS overlays in the last video and corrected the issue. Come along with Blaze and me as go on another adventure together.

A very nice morning ride, I tried a new mounting position for the camera and different video settings for the GO PRO. Let me know in the comments what you think.

I was doing a deeper dive into the MICROSOFT MOVIE MAKER editing software and decided to try doing a voice over on the slide show I made. I think it turned out pretty well.
A ride around the LOWER ALABAMA RAIL ROAD.

The Go Pro camera is small enough to fit through the opening of the truss bridge, so I can FINALLY get an engineer's view of the entire layout. Come along and enjoy the ride.

Introducing Blaze, the Quattro Velo velomobile!
Nicely done
Thank you! It looks a lot better now that the duct tape is gone the wire is hidden/secured to the underside of the top.
Nice ride Larry! How long did it take to ship from NL?
@@UncleMilty I actually bought Blaze from the original owner in VA. So I have no idea what the shipping time from the Netherlands was.
@ Ok thanks for the answer!
Just found your channel, that thing is awsome.🎉🎉🎉
P.s. beautiful home, and hello from Chaing Mai Thailand.
Thank you!! I really enjoy riding it!
Hi Larry, you got a new subscriber. Nicely done video. Mostly when you extended arms inside to take on the pedals and fan, you have a good hand to get an image not shaking much while in movement.
Thank you sir! Glad to have you as a subscriber!
@Bigboy4018 With pleasure! Community of people appreciating life on their own energy is growing but still very tiny! I am rebuilding a 14yo project which did rot thanks to many reasons including ex rom tropical country not willing to let me work on due time while my installation is solar powered... Did you think about a small fridge and heater for longer rides off the road? Or you stay mostly on the road?
@@danyarchambault7121 I stay on the road, The QV does not have the ground clearance or tires for anything but road or very maintained trails. With the "trunk space, I do have room for a small cooler!
Hey Larry. Good work showing the velomobile! Hey, I like your camelbag mounting. I might also do that. Previously when I was driving 10 hours I did have it on top of the cover of the housing that holds the rear axle. That kind of worked, but this might be better. Thank you for showing😊
@julesvelomobile it works very well. The water bladder slides in very easy. Thanks for watching!!
Thank you Larry. I love 💕 your velo !
You're welcome! Glad you liked it
Love 💕 to see footage of your velo instead of just wear you are going
@@McKenzieLockwood-j6c I'll try that next time.
J.C. Penney's RS-3?
I don't know.
I liked that one VERY much, so I looked around and got one myself. I had been looking for some good options in this area for a long time, and couldn't find a good solution, until you gave me this wonderful information. Thank you!
Glad I was able to help you!😊
Prob should dial back on that music.
Thanks for the feedback, still learning this stuff. I THOUGHT I had lowered it enough, but.....
Good weather, flat landscape, Quatrevelo .. such a combo! :-) We're slowly entering winter here, might still see some days with clear skies and nice temps, but I've mostly moved my exercise effort indoors on my Toorx BRX R300, recumbent ergometer bike :-P
Do you have the schlumph drive ? Button on the crank... I just watched saulkie's Quatro unboxing , his has it...
Yes, the mountain drive with an 80 tooth gear ring. I love it!
@Bigboy4018 nice 👌 I've been down the rabbit hole with electric assist mid drive 48v 750 Amp hour battery... the extra weight and stress it puts on a trike wasn't worth it to me .. I love my mountain schlumph drive. Less weight, just as useful .
Rolling around in a Quatrevelo is scary enough, lol... at least for dogs. 9 out of 10 dogs bark at me when I go past :-D
@thereference2337 yes, you are quite correct! One dog went nuts during this ride.
Thanks for the inside view ..
Hello Larry, another good video. Just a suggestion if you use velomobile in your title and use some #velomobile in the description, I'm sure you would gain a lot more subscribers. You have a velomobile in the States , pretty rare and not too many people are knowledgeable of what they are. Do you have any videos of the inside of it ? I'm building a velomobile inspired body for my recumbent trike. I'd like to see the fitment, space..
@Brian3680 yes, on my page, under ADVENTURES WITH BLAZE, I did a walk-a-round video with some shots inside.
@Bigboy4018 thanks I'll watch it now. 👍
Very nice ... but what is it?
@ollieox9181 it isca Quattro Velo+, velomobile built in the Netherlands. Basically, a 4 wheeled recumbent bike in a full body shell.
Neat ride. Better if it had hub motors on both rear wheels! That would be awesome
I really don't feel the need for motor assist, I can go as fast as I want with just my legs!
ok , now what is it?
A flashing head/tail light , set high for greater visibility. Just an extra bit of safety
I think it’s a pedal car, but not really sure.
@rmiller334 it is a velomobile, a human powered vehicle. Basically, a recumbent bike in a full body shell. Very comfortable, fast and protected from weather.
@@Bigboy4018 so yea, a pedal car.
Sorry dogpatch, I misunderstood your question. It is a Quattro Velo + , velomobile, built in the Netherlands. Tons of fun to ride.
Great video. A big thumbs up from a fellow avid cyclist. 👍
Congrats on all the firsts! Stellar performance! :-)
@@thereference2337 Thank you!
Hello Larry, how do you get that speedometer on the screen? I'd like to add that to my recumbent trike videos. Thanks
That is a GO Pro feature. I got the 11 HERO Black because it had the GPS feature and the twelve didn't. I've heard the 13 will have it back again. Anyway, that is what I use the GO Pro Quik app for. In the editing, they call it stickers. There are other ways to do it as well. I THINK Saukie, did a video on how he does it on THE VELOMOBILE CHANNEL, here on YOU TUBE. I've watched others as well. A search for "video overlay" should give you what you need for a start. The Go Pro app is limited, but it's easy and that's what I need!
@@Bigboy4018 same here... easy.. lol I'll see if my insta360 x4 has that option. Thanks
Pretty cool 😎 I like it 👍
very cool.........
норм таракан хочу такой же жалко нельзя купиц)))))
This is sick ngl
I would agree that the camera angle gives you a better view of the ride. Looks like the roads there are not bad at all.
@mikemumford1327 Thanks for the feedback,I appreciate it. Yes, the roads aren't too bad for the most part and traffic is usually very well behaved.
I really liked the neighborhoods you were riding in. As for the video, I like the angle, and the stabilization looks good. Thanks for sharing your ride.
@@mikemumford1327 Thanks for watching and for the feedback!
:) Nice trip. Yeah...you get used to the fact that you need to take extra time to answer people's questions :) Even the police does get confused from time to time.
The stops never end, and I love it! Got stopped twice during today's ride. Who knows, maybe I'll convince someone to get a velomobile and I'll have someone to ride with!
Fun!
That was fun
I have always liked dragons. When I flew RC helicopters, all were named after dragons from the DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN books. since Pern didn't have any red dragons, I did a web search and that' how Blaze got his name! Thanks for watching and for asking!!
Nice, what's the backstory for the name "Blaze" if any? Mine's called Orange, backstory - It's orange!
Looks like it would be a blast to ride on something like a park trail, but highly butthole-puckering on a public road.
Actually, riding on the roads has not been much of an issue. The other drivers have been giving me more than enough room. The mirrors are very effective and coupled with the GUARDIA 300 rear facing radar, I always know what's behind me. I do look forward to hitting some of the RAIL-TO-TRAILS once I get my trailer modified for the length of the QV.
riding in a pair of lips?
Oh dear pink trash cans, looks like one of your mods is interfering with the latest game update. If ya know ya know.
I imagine you're not a fan of your trashy neighbors with the boat in the front yard :)
When you start making payments we'll ask you, Karen.
I like the speed and compose in the left corner. Really shape video. Nice work
Thank you!
And what was your average speed? Do you have a link to the route that shows elevation?
Average speed for the entire ride was 14.9mph. I'm not smart enough to copy a link. The route was pretty flat, I think the biggest elevation change in any one place was 30 feet. I tried the elevation overlay in the initial edit of the video, but it did not appear to be accurate; it was changing when the video was paused so I deleted it.
@@recumbentguy strava.app.link/LIF755Ig9Lb
I THINK I figured out a link to the Strava recording of the ride.
never seen anything like that. what a marvelous work of engineering and art. love it.
They really are incredible machines. There are quite a few different models, my QV is just one!
One thing about riding a velomobile--you will attract a bunch of curious folks! Keep up the good work.
@@user1522p Thanks! It does draw a LOT of attention. Cars have stopped in the middle of the road to take pictures/videos. I will always stop and answer any/all of their questions.
Way cool.
Thank you!
Larry "Rocketeer" Rogers executes pedal to the carbon fiber with elegance as he doesn't want that fiddle battle with the devil today. Glorious ride and a good workout I reckon :-)
It was a GREAT ride! Thanks for coming along.
Yikes, are you as far over to the right side of the road as it seems? I'd be terrified to be that far over, on my bicycle I take the lane.
I've not had any issues riding to the right. I actually don't ride as far right in the velo as I did on my trike..
Awesome ride
Thanks for coming along.
I've never seen a Pink trash can before 😅 all ours are the same color.
The company that does the pick ups, has pink cans for breast cancer awareness.
Thank you for letting me ride a Velo vicariously through your videos.
You are most welcome! Thanks for coming along!
A nice ride, seems you got a tad pumped too .. :-)
Yes, it was a very good ride! Thanks for coming along!
That’s so cool.
Thank you!
Mount is fine, audio is fine, all fine. Also, nice morning velonautage!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Larry, actually that is a pretty high speed you've put out in this video believe it or not. When I'm taking part in those bigger type of "Grensrijder tours", the bicycles are divided into 3 speed categories. The slowest category cruises at around 12.5 mph. The middle around 15.5 mph and the fast group usually drives around 18.6 mph. Fairness to say is that the average velomobile drive I drive with has probable an age of 50+ I guesstimate :). I'm a bit younger than that. Around the 2 minute mark you've already had a speed above the speed of the fastest groups I take part in. Whatever you are trying to achieve while challenging yourself, don't forget to have some fun. You've already have gotten to decent speeds! You know what's fun to experience? When you drive uphill with a velomobile, it seems to be a littlebit harder than it would be with an upright bicycle. But downhill its the other way round you can get incredibly fast very quickly.
Thank you, Jules! You just made this old dog's day! I recently turned 70 so it's good to know I've still got it! Yes, hills are something to be experienced, It amazes me how much speed can be built up so quickly and how far it will carry up the other side. Just finished a test ride with the 155mm crank arms and they are GREAT! They hit the sweet spot for me. Good times!
@@Bigboy4018 Well, blow my spinnaker and pop my peg leg, congrats on 70!
