I've rarely loved a work so much as I love this. Holst was a world shattering talent, and this was perhaps his truest masterpiece among many. Stunning, beautifully performed by UNT. Outstanding. Few professional choirs could have equalled their brilliance.

Fantastic composition by the versatile Gustav Holst brilliantly performed by the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra and Grand Chorus at the Murchison Performing Arts Center on April 25, 2012. it should be noted that large forces are required for a performance of this monumental work, and here it's been done with excellence. Thank you for sharing!

Certainly a fine job. And the Bulgarian Women’s Choir sounds entirely- like entirely different. This choir is clearly a western European / American style choir doing a fine job approximating this music. A superb effort. Just not how the music is sung by those trained - for many years- in this very particular Bulgarian style of singing.

@@jackdolphy8965 doesn't matter, it's made in the USA so it's obviously superior to the clearly primitive white voice singers of the oriental countries of Slavs ;)

Nice performance! I’ll just mention little issues in pronunciation which might be useful in case you decide to perform it again: At 1:35: I guess you made use of the Vox Bulgarica score where the text is nonsensically written in Latin characters like this: sandwk. And you sing “sandwi”, which doesn’t mean anything in Bulgarian. The correct word is sanduck (pronounced like duck, the animal). At 2:00 and 2:08: in the word gaydarche (гайдарче), the “ay” should be sung like “i” in light and not like “ey” in hey. And the k in kato is without blowing, but that’s a hard thing to correct for native English speakers. 😅

Early 20th century English choral music. Begun in 1917 (when Holst was writing his most famous orchestral work, The Planets) and first performed in 1920. It's dedicated to Holst's lifelong friend and colleague, Ralph Vaughan Williams.
