Holy canopie this made me prolapse

I first heard this when I was about 3-4. It was a slippery slope from this to Black Sabbath.

Fun fact: The imagineers were originally just going to record the voices for the busts and have actors lip sync to the song, but when Verne Rowe, Thurl Ravenscroft, Chuck Schroeder, Jay Meyer, and Bob Ebright went in to record the vocals, one of the imagineers noticed how animated their faces were when they were singing so they just had the group film their faces for the busts. For this effect, they had to wear white makeup to look like the marble busts with their heads in a brace to keep them from moving around too much similar to Madame Leota’s head (apparently, this really bugged Jay Meyer). When the recording was finished, there was a mysterious error in Thurl’s projection that made it look like his head was slanted to one side. That’s why Uncle Theodore’s bust is broken.

Our tour begins here in this gallery, where you see paintings of some of our guests as they appeared in their corruptible, mortal state. Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room ACTUALLY stretching? Or is it your imagination, hmm? Can I get this specific version on cd? I’ve tried finding it on itunes and can only find the sped up version.

To get the ghostly sound of the graveyard must’ve been a real chore to do. This is how they did it from what I’ve heard. Doris Johnson just played her harp straightforward so her recording is pretty normal. Chet Andrews, the percussionist of the group, pounded the beat out on a couple of stones with a pair of drumsticks to give the sound of his ghostly counterpart using bones to hit the tombstones. Cappy Lewis (trumpet) and Art Smith (flute) played both of their parts backwards so the recording would have a ghostly feel to it when it was reversed. The bagpipe was the most difficult to get right. The imagineers wanted to use an actual bagpipe for the recording, but they found it near impossible to control the thing melodically. To fix this, a fella by the name of Gordon Schoenenberg (apologies if I misspelled that) recorded two tracks of himself playing an oboe out of tune (one forward and one backward) and overlayed them on top of each other to create the effect of a ghostly bagpipe player. If there’s any information I missed or got wrong, please let me know.

It’s either the audio quality is bad or something else, but it sounds like grim grinning ghosts in the graveyard is a key lower than today’s version.

When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake………spooks come out for a swinging wake……happy haunts materialize……and begin to vocalize……grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize. (Maniacal laughter)

This is eventually what the haunted mansion will look like. They keep putting so many lights in the ride that it ruins the magic

Genuinely one of my favorite UA-cam Channels! I am obsessed with the history of the haunted mansion and love old recordings like this.

So is this the same as the Unofficial 20th Anniversary Collection? There seems to be more tracks on that one, but they seem to pretty much be the same, some with slightly different track titles though.

Always wanted to know how the original flash looked. The osmonds special was surprisingly accurate.

Love it. You just know that somewhere out there in someone's garage or a box of junk is an old color film like this of the OG Hatbox Ghost. I know there's that short black and white clip of it that turned up but I'd love to see some color film of it.
