Martin Barre along with Pete Townshend and Davey Johnstone form the trilogy I kneel to on a regular basis! I’m a hack playing to an audience of one but I hear their influence every time I pick up a guitar.

Was privileged to have seen Jethro Tull seven times in the 70's. They are the quintessential prog rock band of all time!

Watching in 2025... this probably was the Songs from the Wood tour if it's '77. We ALWAYS saw Tull as a matter of course at every opportunity. The complex writing and orchestration, the shows with almost Broadway Show levels of choreography. Still true what was true then. Each musician is a virtuoso at their craft, and they could (and did) switch instruments at will sometimes just for fun.) Superlatives fall way short of describing these shows. P.S. For technical drumming and live exactitude, Barriemore Barlow would be right there with Neil Peart - Different only in the musical requirement, but just right there. Not trying to compare, but it always struck me as odd that Barriemore wasn't appreciated more. He was legendary.

So professional...not ready to play when they were announced...

The ending is interesting. Tull were a band that very rarely used the fade out, but the original album version of this song did have a fade out. While I'll admit that sometimes fade outs can be effective, usually it just feels like the band didn't bother writing a proper ending. A lot of bands seemed to take the easy way out and recorded song after song with fade outs.

this is great Steve.. I didn't see this one ! yeah I have to laugh every time I think about Ian saying he's not a good guitarist .. I like the way he plays acoustic and can sing while he's doing it😉👍 They were at their peak back then imho

I have been listening and enjoying Jethro Tull since I was 15, that will be 54 years come March. To say they are unique, and fill a niche, is an understatement. Ian Anderson is truly someone special and had the foresight to create this band. You are never too old to rock 'n roll, but you can be too young to die. Ian will be 78 himself this year.

Love Tull's music, he sure looks different though now...as we all do! My first Tull album was "Minstrel in the gallery", took awhile to get the hang of it, eventually fell in love with it and all Jethro Tull music.

The strongest lineup of Tull, Rythm section with Bunker and Cornick was a hell of an ensemble that Tull lost in the following years imho…

Sheer genius.

First saw Tull on July 18, 1970 at a Warehouse in New Orleans, LA. Support act was Mott the Hoople. All told, probably seen Tull twenty or so times. Friends ask me to describe Tull’s music - rock, metal, folk, etc. - and I tell them I can’t. Tull have their own category….it’s called “Tull”. No one else really comes close.

Such incredible energy, while performing some of the era's best music. Ian Anderson is such a great and unforgettable performer. The Jethro Tull band also must not be overlooked.

Such extensive creativity, at the time we were looking for this diversity, Ian Anderson and his team brought it to us. Such very insightful and enjoyable times.

Wow, wow , wow, and a million more wows. What treasure to see this. And maybe the highlight is to see the late great Glenn Cornick playing bass on My God. He was fired from the group before Aqualung was recorded and of course Jeffrey HH replaced him on Aqualung and several albums following. And Ian was never better, just a magical performance by everyone.

I love this "wilder" Tull era.

They should be inducted into the R&RHOF on the basis of this performance alone. I know Ian doesn’t care, etc. however it’s why I don’t watch the ceremonies ever. They should’ve been in inducted their first year of eligibility in 1993. Greatest live act ever imo. Astonishing. I took them for granted when I was young. Saw Aqualung, TAAB, Passion Play and Warchild tours. So grateful for that. From 1971-80 nobody could touch them. I fully realize that now. Thank you so very much for posting!

The bass player. LMAO. You people like the embarrassing parts on Led Zeppelin songs.

Absolutely the tightess rhythm section Tull ever had with John Glascock on bass and Barrymore Barlow on drums IMHO.Sorrily for only a short period before Glascock's passing.Loved the other earlier combos but these two were so bloody precise.This sextet version allowed them to cover the whole catalog and would have been a marvel to behold live.

Saw them at the Albert Hall in 1968.Very hairy in the early days when musicians were musicians!

Nenhum grupo pop atual sequer chega perto de uma banda como o J Tull ! ALiás , bandas atuais não tocam nada e não possuem músicas marcantes , muito menos possuem bons instrumentistas , com raras exceções . E não ousam , repetem fórmulas demais,,A música simplesmente erra melhor na década de 70...muito melhor !
