Fr John Behr: The Great Mystery: We Shall All Be Changed, Amsterdam 21 Oct 2023
After speaking about death and resurrection in his first letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle changes voice to proclaim the mystery: we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed! What is this mystery that Paul speaks about and how was it understood by the Fathers. In this lecture, Fr John will look at the Apostle’s apocalyptic reading of Scripture and, building upon his work on St Irenaeus and more recently St Gregory of Nyssa, explore how they understood our lives as a process of becoming human, finally through death, resurrection, and transformation.

44:40 Bingo. Nail in the coffin for Truth = History. Historians often neglect to name the criteria backing their evaluations; but John’s Gospel names his (Christ). And yet, the historians referenced are praised for candor and critical acumen. Compared to John, they’re suckers or snake oil salesmen, one or the other.
