Hello everyone, My name is Malichi Josephat, and I’m 21 years old, studying Computer Science in my second year at university. I’m writing this with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. In 2020, while I was still in high school, I stumbled upon gambling. What started as a small bet with $20 quickly turned into a dangerous habit. I won $70 that first time, and it gave me a false sense of hope. I thought I’d found a way out, a way to make life better, but instead, I found myself trapped in a cycle I couldn’t escape. By the time I entered university in 2022, I had lost over $400. The money I’d earned, the money I’d borrowed-gone, all of it. I was drowning in debt, constantly chasing the idea that I could somehow win it all back. I was desperate to succeed, to make something of myself, but that desperation only led me further into darkness. In 2023, just before my exams, my father sent me the money I needed for tuition. But the hunger for quick money, that insatiable greed, consumed me once more. I gambled away the last chance I had, losing every penny. I was left with nothing but shame and regret, unable to face my family, unable to pay my fees, unable to even sit for my exams. I felt like my future had been ripped away from me by my own hands. Miraculously, the school allowed me to write the exams, but now I sit here, typing this, with no hope left. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke; I’ve always tried to walk the right path, but this addiction has destroyed everything I’ve worked for. My fees are $1100, and I have no idea how I’ll pay them. My education, my dreams-they’re slipping through my fingers, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. I’m writing this with a heart full of sorrow, not knowing if anyone will believe me or if they’ll see me as just another scammer. But I have nowhere else to turn. I’ve thought about giving up so many times, but deep down, I know that giving up won’t solve anything. Yet, I feel so lost, so hopeless, wondering if I’ll ever find a way out of this nightmare. If you’re reading this, please understand that this is not just a plea for help-it’s the last flicker of hope in a life that’s been consumed by despair. I don’t know what else to do, but I’m holding on to the belief that maybe, just maybe, someone out there will hear my cry.
