Setting Up Your Unitrap to Monitor for Box Tree Moth 2:54
Переглядів 2023 роки тому
This video demonstrates the set up of a Unitrap with pheromones to attract Box Tree Moth adults for Monitoring purposes. Please note: the VaporTape strip needs to be taken out of the packaging and inserted into the bottom of the trap bucket. Where the trap will be intercepting daily irrigation, you may consider drilling small holes in the base bucket to allow for drainage.

This photographic presentation reviews the identification, biology, behaviour and management of Gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) in the Ontario landscape during peak populations in 2020 and 2021. The content will be useful for nursery growers, landscape professionals, arborists and foresters and others involved in the production or maintenance of trees and shrubs (outdoor ornamentals).
Will this be affecting Holly bushes?
No. This pest is specific to boxwood and in Ontario we have not observed it feeding on holly or other hosts.
For the last three days (UK South), the moths have been out, attracted by the pheremone lure. Presumably, eggs have been laid over the last couple of days and this egg laying period will continue until the last adult moths are recorded. I'm planning to wait an additional 5 days beyond last flying adult before spraying to maximise the chance of new larvae coming into contact with BT. Does this sound like a good strategy, or would you adjust that timing?
Hi! Im from aurora, ontario. This morning i found a box moth in one of my boxwood. May i know where can i buy unitrap and the pesticides listed in your video. Thanks
BTK can be found at many garden centres and other retailers like home depot, rona, etc. Uni-traps and the lures are available through a quebec based company called Solida.
Thank you for this - just found them in my box tree shrub and this is everything I need to learn about and address this.
Excellent
Very educational. I have tried the tape treatment and have pulled off hundreds and hundreds of caterpillars off my Birch tree. My question is what is the province doing to spray before the larvae hatch and expand next year? Think of all those trees that will die and the province will have to replant.
