This is awesome! I wish I would've recorded some footage back in the day too. I was stuck on V1 since I was just a kid and my parents did not want to use their card for V2's sub. Everything about this game transports me back to my childhood home. I even still have my first Dreamcast and the CRT TV which saw countless hours of fighting games and PSO.

Man 2001. It was culturally still the 90s. I wish I could have played this back then. I would have been 13 at the time, but I didn't own a Dreamcast back then. UA-cam didn't even exist yet. The little colored buttons flipping animation when a player joins your game is exclusive to the Dreamcast versions, and it's kind of a shame because it's a nice loading animation. The later ports of pso just have a text box telling you that another player is joining, which just isn't as fun to look at. No red boxes yet to tell you that an item was a rare drop. You had to actually go up to the item to find out. Very interesting.

Nostalgic overload. This was such a magical time. The amount of hours i put into this game when it came out. Met some amazing people. This video is amazing but also sad, the company no longer makes consoles, and this game is also dead on that system. Thank you for the video. Miss these times.

I'm on a new account, so this is a repost but I felt like it needed to be reposted anyways. I know this video does not have many views compared to other gaming videos, but I wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you posting this. I never even played this game, was an infant, not even 3 when this video was recorded. But I do have a tendency to record gaming sessions with friends just for memory and keepsake, so watching this made me feel a sad sort of nostalgia and yearning sensation I cant quite explain. Perhaps the fact you and your friends probably eventually changed games without swapping other social media info and probably lost touch, just makes me sad to think about it, since I have experienced the same. And this I'm guessing was a very special video since it was your first time online with real players and such, to the other players it was just them playing with a newbie lower level and unaware that the play session was gonna be preserved and posted online like 10 years in the future. This probably sounds weird crazy ramblings that I'm saying this stuff, and my apologies, I just want to let you know that even with this video being mostly unknown, I greatly appreciate this video and the nostalgic yearning it gave me, reminded me to appreciate my friends and gaming sessions while I'm still in my youth. It feels like this video should be more popular, for how important it is, for what it shows, and for what it reminded me. I'll probably be back time and time again to rewatch this piece of history. Thanks for posting this, and for replying to me after all these years of this video being up. I hope maybe someday you can get your old tapes back somehow, and take my subscribe :) Have a fantastic day.

This game is my favorite online rpg. There’s no BS. It’s so chill but fun at the same time. It’s simple to meet up with people and I’m playing this for the first time just a few months ago so there’s no nostalgia involved.

What a fantastic dose of nostalgia! I spent countless hours in PSO on the Dreamcast. I think it was my first online gaming experience, PSO and Quake 3 arena on 56k. Those were some good times.

My body is overwhelmed with nostalgia. You have no idea how much memories you unlocked after watching this footage. This was the best game ever to play in the early 2000s. I went through like so many DC's playing this game; especially in battle mode 6. Miranda 7 (whatever lobby because we owned that block) - Home of the Battlers. It was where I usually stayed at; My characters were "Harle (my first character since v1 FOnewearl) 18, Veronica, Celia (often paired with Lede - HUnewearls), French Maid (The battling RAceseal) , Haku (HUmar), SheBitch (My HUCeseal) Challenge mode was fun too especially when you get your own weapon at the end; inscripted! I had high hopes for PSO 2 but I don't know what happen to it.

I'm so late to the party. I never played this back in the day because my internet wasn't fast enough nor did I really even know about this game. But in 2021 I'm playing online right now with the dreampi having a blast with it and the small community of people who still play it. It's crazy seeing this many people online at one time back in the day.

This is awesome, I played PSO online in 2009/2010 with a BBA and have over lockdown set up a DreamPi and got back online again! Love this game so much, had a Dreamcast in early 2001 but never had it online and its amazing to see actually online play from back then. thanks for uploading!

This brings so many memories, played PSO v1 and 2 on DC since the first day it came out here in Europe until the very last day closed severs. This game was no game, it was life itself.

Never got to experience this due to being too young, so this just looks super surreal. especially since I've been playing PSO2NA lol

A true shame that PSO Universe wasn't near as good as this. The PSP Phantasy Star games were real good. To this day we never got a true sequel to PSO. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd start a petition that no one would sign, so no one would see for a true PS02..=/ at least we still can play Blue Burst on PC, thanks to independent servers.

Ah man, I had the original Xbox version. I was a part of the Joker clan back when. <JoKeR>. The DC version was so well done, but your heart is usually with your first. I have some VHS footage somewhere I really need to look for. Jellen and Zalure helped me train so much. Would have someone cast them on me as I punched boxes to get levels. Overall, I had 8 level 200 characters. Then the hacked weapons and duping started screwing everything up.. 110% in every weapon was unnecessary, and took away from the challenge. And those damn lillies that spit megid on ultimate can kiss my a$$.
