eMDeeyaaR mahavidwan took a delightful page from Nadaswarom recitals : the hardest wind instrument on this planet makes it a must for the nadaswarom player to take frequent breaks during long recitals. The tavil vidwan will come in and fill the gaps brilliantly. Our man MDR would take breaks during his recitals as he contemplates the upcoming neravals with new ideas. Brilliant mridangam men such as Palghat Mani Iyer would fill the gaps as if he was repeating the song phrases. Here PMI's prime sishya is doing what his guru had done before him with brilliant out-of-this-world type fillings. Murugabhupathy, T K Murhy and TV Gopalakrishnan were all best in this endeavor. TVG used to carry MDR cassettes with him when he travelled abroad for concerts. In fact, he presented me with two tapes of MDR with himself as pakkom along side a Malayali violinist Chalakkudi Narayanaswami for feeding him with soft idlis, podi and Nair coconut chutney during his 1984 US tour that took him with TNKrishnan and family covering my then residential town of Flushing in Queens [New York} PPN Kanthikumar/Calif

Nobody could touch Kedaram after the mahavidwan eMDeeyaaR had touched it. This Kedaram song is his own creation. Victoria College -- needlessly to say built during the British occupation -- was the home to both eMDeeyaaR[Physics BSc] and Palghat Raghu]Mathematics BSc]. Both of them were honoured by the govt of India with Padmashri award! Raghu master in this recital when eMDeeyaaR surrendered to perfection with his take of the major song Nata's Jagadanandakaraka did his very best to make it a monumental success. V Thyagarajan who grew up surrounded by music from morning till night as his violin master father Pappa Venkataramaiah[his initial "V" comes from "Venkataramaiah"]. After getting spoilt - watching this quite regularly for a few years almost everyday.. i was heartbroken when i couldnt find it online anymore. I understand there are some concerns about permissions.
