    I'm just starting to watch these on Prime video, and although she has researched what to say, I'm a bit surprised she used the word "dakwang" (yellow pickled radish), which is actually the old Japanese inherited way of saying it. Most Koreans don't call it that anymore because of the Japanese connection - instead, we call it danmuji. But nice to see some variations of food in this show.

    Spice up your life :) Try spaghetti with a little bit of kimchi on the side. Try red wine with a little bit of kimchi on the side. Try curry with a little bit of kimchi on the side. Try ramen noodles with kimchi on the side. Try chicken noodle soup with kimchi on the side. Try fried chicken with a little bit of kimchi on the side. Stir fry chopped up kimchi with spam and mix them with fried rice. It will change your world and you will never go back. Cheers everyone and Enjoy :)

    Sorry but slurping sound is not an encouraged in Korean culture. That Diana who lead Marja around taught her nonsense. Wonder where she got educated. 🤔

    It's fortunate for Marja that she got adapted and didn't grow up in Korea. Her view of her birth place would be a lot different if she had because of all the discrimination and hardship she would have faced being a mixed race child.

    Rice is NOT a side dish, it is the main dish. The greeting often used in Korea is "have you eaten rice?" because that is the most important part of the meal.

    • @marcusson9025
      @marcusson9025 4 роки тому

      Also that greeting was common after Korean war, due to starvation of third world poverty of the past Korea. So when they asked did you eat rice, and depending on how you answered the host would make you a meal. Although the greeting is still used to this day, due to Korean polite culture you wouldn't say I haven't ate, but say something like i am fine!
