Kojima made a bunch of parallels between MGSV and Moby Dick. Ahab and Ishmael are the main characters, their ship is called the Pequod, etc. In Moby Dick the whale sorta represents something to be mad at and to take vengeance on. This whale is literally on fire (because of the man on fire and pyscho mantis teaming up), but i think it also represents a sorta "red herring." It catches our eyes, makes us think wow this is what i need to focus on and this is so eye catching, it literally destroys a gun "ship" (the game always says gun ship not helicopter). In reality the real issues we should be focused on are right here in front of us, like who is ishmael, why is he leading big boss out of danger, why does he sound exactly like snake. This is my take on it at least.
