    Do you realized that you cannot get no comments because what are saying, it is not true at all. Because there was always a better batsman than Viv Richard's, during those days nobody useto batting in helmet ⛑. From the time I saw Gavakar batting in 1971 throughout his entire career,long before Viv Richard's entered the cricket arena. He has never used an helmet throughout his career, so I don't really see all these excitement about. Because there are several wi batsmen who have faced faster bowlers than viv Richard's over the years and, has scored far runs and centuries overall than Viv Richard's and. They are not getting any ratings as Viv Richard's, he is over rated.

    He was an average slow bowler in the 50's, a very good(not great) medium/quick bowler in the 60's,an above average bowler in the 70's.Let's not overrate his bowling,he finished with an average of 34.03.The most staggering allrounder ever was WG Grace between 1865 to 1876 when he averaged 55.76 batting when few where averaging above 25 and taking 4.7 wickets a match at an average of 14.72 and talking 1.3 catches a match.Then he put on weight and played way too long and his first class figures went down.

      W.G Grace ?????..look,I don't know who you are trying to fool ,but W.G Grace made his TEST debut on the 6th Sept 1880 and retired on June 3rd 1899 and in 22 matches he finished with a BATTING av.of 32.29 with ONLY 2 ,YES TWO CENTURIES and a bowling av.of 26.22 having taken ONLY 9 ,YES,NINE wickets...and you are telling YOURSELF that those stats are the stats of the MOST STAGGERING ALL ROUNDER the WORLD has ever seen? man this IS by far the MOST STAGGERING PIECE OF NONSENSE I HAVE EVER READ...IN MY LIFE.

    • @jlg5967
      @jlg5967 10 днів тому

      @@michaelaustin-xx7cu Yes WG Grace will always lose in a test cricket argument.But compare their figures in first class cricket at their peak years as allrounders.WG Grace between 1865 to 1876:198 matches,16453 runs @55.96,56 centuries,927 wickets at 14.52 (he didn't bowl in about 50 matches),263 catches,3 stumpings.Sobers between 1961 to 1970 :200 matches,15250 runs @58.20, 49 centuries,702 wickets @25.61,225 catches.When people call WG Grace a colossus and compare him with Bradman it is largely because of this period.He played test cricket in his declining years and hardly bowled.

    • @michaelaustin-xx7cu
      @michaelaustin-xx7cu 10 днів тому

      @@jlg5967How can you compare an ALL ROUNDER with a BATSMAN? you have to compare a BATSMAN with a BATSMAN and to Compare a BATSMANS' FC experiences with another BATSMAN TEST experiences is NONSENSE and if you don't know,yours is the epitone of someone comparing Apples with Eggs.Look the ONLY ALL ROUNDER that one can compare with Sobers is Kallis,but I would give the edge to Sobers because he used to bowled in 3 styles with success,but their stats are very close.

  • @arunminnas
    @arunminnas 13 днів тому

    Very nice and insightful commentary. Without going into statistics, what made him special? He was the trend setter for modern batsmanship though no one even in this era has come close to him. His batting was psychological in the sense that he delivered the first blow to the opponent by attacking even the very best bowlers with audacious shots even before he settled in, thus throwing their line and length out of synch. This unnerved even seasoned bowlers and then he would proceed to defend and settle in. He made batting easy for those who followed him. I have never seen anyone else doing that since he retired.
