Good idea to wear gloves when working with metal oxides as some like copper, cobalt and manganese are toxic and can be absorbed into the skin. Dust mask too.
?
why does the brush have mirrors on it?
Curios about how the scraping works. Would love if you can include that. Thanks!
An excellent video for single potter studios as well!
Thomas toft....Burslem,one of the 5 Towns making up Stoke on Trent,The area is world-famous for ceramics [Wedgewood, Royal Doulton} ...Slipware refers to the slip trailing technique [decoration} not molded ceramics ware.
Copper is notorious for leaching. Wouldn’t recommend using this with food, especially acids, without testing with vinegar or lemon first.
Very nice video. Tried to find a picture of the fired bowl on your instagram but couldn’t find it. Also you forgot to show how you made the copper wash. 🙏🏻
Great explanation of process. I was very engaged with this video.
What kind of kopper mix younused?
Great work dude
Sorry if I missed it, but what is the benefit from using the coils vs rolling a slab of the same thickness?
great presentation, thankyou
Nicely done! Haven’t seen any technique like this!
Gee, your large dinner plate looks like it is full of black mold
For a rough estimate on slab length you could also just use 3 times desired diameter to find the side length
?
Excelente quality
Awesome! 😊
👏👍
my name Brooklyn Clay can u get free merch😛
The fuck did I watch? It was entertaining but.. huh?
Dude put gloves on
Shouldn’t you have gloves on since copper is highly toxic and never leaves the body!?
Thank you.
This was exactly what I was looking for today. Thank you so very much..
After you have washed the excess off, is the water/wash-off safe to go down the sink?
No copper is toxic so don't wash it down in the sink. I wash everything (also brushes and sponges) in a bucket. After two days the particles are on the bottom and you can throw away the clear water. The particles go into my slop glaze / reclaim glaze bucket
Enjoying your videos. There's a glitch where you're talking about the book on Ceramics that you're referring to can you give the title.
Great informative and enthusiastic presentation.
What an inspiration this young man is.
I can’t love this more!!!
I discovered Sunshine through their book. It really is a gorgeous and helpful book. Written in such a friendly, welcoming way it is no wonder that they themselves are this way too.
I’d love to know how you created the texture on the bowl in the wet clay stage.
Thanks for the tutorial! I love surface enhancement ideas!
Yes what is the texture tool used in this video.... thanks for your time
There's no content here. We want to see ceramics nd talk about the work.
This was so fun to watch. I learned a lot!
Love this interview! Thanks for sharing!
Also, will you please link to the casting village in China?
Can you tell me what kind of pail with a sieve you use?
Sunshine’s ease with which she communicates with her audience is honest and inspiring. Not only does she unselfishly share her wealth of knowledge from years of working with clay, she is equally as generous to share what makes the total potter; paying attention to mind and body, happiness and intentions. She has inspired me through her words to not only to explore my creativity but also my approach to the art itself.
What clay body is this ?
what a lovely potter! Very wise lady
It is nice hearing him say “ I am a potter now”. It is really just finding your self while working witn others.
Thank you, love it when you share the space of the featured artist.
great share
great thanks
great channel
What are the ingredients in the wash? It looks like there’s more to it besides water and oxide.
I don't know exactly what he does he said he did not use any glaze, but I usually add a little amount of transparent glaze in my copper so it will "stick" on the ceramic after firing.
I saw a video where they were using a scrubbie that wasnt wet first and saving the dried wash for later use...have you tried this?
