A small update on the very back burner project 1972 f250 4x4, hopefully we'll get to working on it in the next few months so that I can make some more updates of it later in the year

After the 12 year plus nap, we burned all the goo out of this old 352, started using a little oil. Little down on power, and some cylinders too!

Love the tractor, probably would hate that rattlebox cab and I think I can appreciate the old Ford truck that was doing the video LOL, loved everything about this video
The cab is no longer on it, he made that decision before he bought it, we took it off about a month ago. I actually plan to use part of it as an operator cab in my sawmill. Should work good for that...that old ford is a great old rig, 68 f350 with a dump bed, super handy to have around. Thanks for watching
Sweet!!
What size cat, thanx

I love the sound of those slow revving diesels.
What a beast 👍👍
Any progress?
Unfortunately no, this was a last ditch effort to maybe get this drivable in a hurry, last minute, My dad passed about 2 weeks after we got it home, we thought we had more time. It's one of those things that he would have liked to have gotten done, but at the same time, it was just a truck, so he and us as a family didn't ever really dedicate a whole lot of time to the project, other aspects of life seemed to be more important. It was always a back burner project and I guess it still is.
I had a 1972 f 100 4-4 360 4 speed 25 years ago,one of the best trucks I've owned of many and I'm a Chevy guy !👍
Who out there whats to buy a 428 cobra jet
its like a long lost pet returning home
Happy to see an update! Can't wait to see it with the body on the frame... The Only thing I'd say is, it would be cool to find a set of old Mag Slot wheels like it had in the picture you shared from when your dad drove the pickup... They are period correct & Look Phenomenal!! Keep up the Great Work, Can't Wait to see the project moving along!!
Funny you mention the mags, we bought the wheels about 2 years ago, and just a few months ago I found they started making slot mags again in 8 lug, I think they were 17x9" we talked about it and considered getting them since it's what he had on it back in the 70s, but these will have to do for now.
Hello back in 78 I had a red Ford truck like this. It was in great shape and I really liked it. Back in those days 69 Camaros were my main focus so it was sold to fund a 69 Camaro purchase. The next time I saw it was in 2001 and it was in even better condition than when I owned it. It was also for sale but they wanted 30K which seemed like a lot at the time and I was still doing the 69 Camaro thing so I didn't buy it! It must of went out of the area because that was the last time I saw it. Anyhow great build. It would be cool to have another update on how it is coming along!

good morning
Hella awesome 👍 thanks
Couple of questions on this engine you still have it? And what if you still have it are you powering with it? Caterpillar diesels like that are excellent engines for powering anything from a generator to a sawmill!
I still have it, not currently using this one for anything, but I have basically the 6 cylinder version of it running my sawmill. That one runs good
Really neat, thank you for showing us! I’ve always thought it awesome how engines like this can rest for so long and one day just go back like nothing ever happened. Thanks:)
Any news since?
We've got the body sand blasted, about to start doing body work. The frame is back together and rolling on tires.
@@N8-T Nice, good luck
Noticed the Bonner County plate and realized this was close to me..(spokane) my uncle was a mechanic at Center Ford in the 70s and 80s.. did the truck ever get an overhaul since this video?
My dad looked at buying a truck from center ford in 1978, ended up getting one at wendle, had the bigger front axle in it. We still have that truck. We just started working on it again. Put it on the back burner for a few years, but we've now made it a priority
@@N8-T cool! I'll be watching for more updates.. I have a 77 f100 and I've been watching coyote swap videos and yours came as a recommendation 8 years later..lol.. it was kinda weird once I noticed you were local.
Shes gonna be a heck of a project BUT! Shes all there! Mostly! Lol! Good thing is they make remanufactured body parts and patch panels for it. Good luck bud!
Crazy to think this wrecking yard doesn't even exist anymore
Are they completely out of the wrecking business? Last time I was there, they had half the yard turned into rv storage
@@N8-T they sold the property. It's no longer a wrecking yard. Cooper fab out of post falls bought it. There is still outside storage.
@@hotrodsneverdie, oh, the coopers bought it, I wonder if they will eventually move out there, their post falls shop is pretty crowded
@@N8-T nope. I hear they are keeping that and adding a second up at Pegasus. I heard stan pope bought the business. Got the loader, truck, name, and phone number. So we'll see what happens with that.
I cant help but notice the 66 next to it, that was my fathers first truck and, luckily he never sold it
I would be the happiest dad in the world if my child found my 2010 ford ranger years down the line.
Beautiful!!, would it be ok to use a little bit of this in a music clip im making for a Kansas group,,about dads?,,,if not np,,,loved this!!
What a pile of junk. It’s not worth fixing.
the best part is your father's surprise :) thanks for sharing . i want to buy one f-100 for me here in Rio ( brazil ). God bless you and you family :)
This Is So Touching!! Sometimes us guys are more Mental than Sentle, BUT "I Woulda' Done The Same Thing"! i'd love to get My Grandfather's '70 F-250 Back i bought from him in '77!! i'm gonna try to do a 150 version of it, & call it a Day!
This is fantastic...I have a real oddball question for you if you don't mind indulging one. How wide and how tall is the radiator? I ask this because I'm a model builder and I'm solid modeling parts of this engine, but don't have the actual dimensions for the radiator. Thanks... Hope it's still purring like at CAT.
If I remember when I'm over there this afternoon, I'll measure it
Thanks! That will be greatly appreciated!
@@WHJeffB 44 wide, 48 tall, 6" deep
@@N8-T Many, many thanks Nate!! Very much appreciated!

need another update!!
Now that's a beautifull family restoring proyect
Bronco II gas tanks mount up perfectly
I just bought one of these. Best 6 hour drive home ever!!!!! She’s a real honey
I would of put the FE 4spd back in it original motor and trans FEs are strong motors
Outstanding. long live Idaho.
Poor thing has obviously seen better day's.
Double clutch shifting... is that using a non-synchro transmission?
The syncros were pretty clapped out, and i think he was doing it for the novelty too
Both the deuce and a halfs and five ton trucks always had manual transmissions that were synchronised.Double clutching wasn't necessary but split shifting with the transfer case was.
"Come on, get in" Give him a minute Its alot to take in
I bet your dad's anxious to have it done.
awesome , nice to see an update finally!
wish i had more than this to show you. its been such a low priority unfortunately

So what happend to this truck?
Striped down to the frame, in the shop, slow, slow, slow restoration. It's a project on the back burner
Trying to locate my Dad's old truck,he passed in 1999,how did you find your dads.
Got lucky, wasn't looking for it, just happened upon it. Sorry, but I don't have any tricks
Where can i get those good used condoms???
From the mack dog straight body to the wreck..it dont even seem to be close to same truck.
Not to mention the west coast mirrors
Npw i really miss my 72 f100 4x4! Ordered it to be crushed cuz if i cant nobody can..my wishes werent respected and my brother was stiffed out of scrap value..someone stole it and i havnt tried real hard to locate it yet..
haven't got through the whole video yet but I'll tell you sentimental value is the only thing holding that truck together! lol.. Its not funny at all that I have been trying to see about finding one of my fathers own trucks. a 79 F150 with explorer package. You know, because google watches you. But I have to say. Really cool story. Good job hopefully you can restore it to its glory
That was so cool that what a true family is supposed to be makes me want to cry 😀
Awesome video!
shame it ended up with some scumbags who let it go to shit. I don't feel bad for him, and I don't get why he would even want it back at this point. Was he genuinely excited? Cause I'd be like "son, what the fuck do you think I'd want this pile of scrap for?"
