    I'm confused about how to stay under the $2000 asset limit if the DAC's SSDI payment exceeds $2k. We can deposit the DAC's monthly SSDI into an ABLE account, but that would leave him no money for non-QDE expenditures. How do we handle this?

What should be the maximum house value in Texas so they do not lose their QMB benefits ? Also does Medicaid estate recovery program try to seize the house of deceased QMB recipients who never lived in any nursing home or any other long term living facility ? Thanks

    My 27 year old son is an adult disabled child on QMB. He lives with my husband and I, I'm his Rep payee. We do not claim him as a dependent. To rectify in Florida it asks for the assets of everyone in the home. I don't want to charge him rent because I then owe income tax on it. Can he live with parents and be his own household or is it best to charge him rent? I want to put the rent money in his ABLE account but can't if I'm having to pay taxes on it. What type of attorney can advise me? Everything seems to deal with SSI or people trying to get on SSDI or SSI?

    In 2023, the income limit for QMB is $1,546 and asset limit of about $12,00(For Couples). [Source from Medicare.gov] Does owning 2 vehicles (worth about $10k) count as Assets that count towards the $12,000 Asset Limit? What if hypothetically, one of the car is new and is Financed. Does that count as asset too?

    My sibling is over the qualifying amount by $23 and was denied QMB but was permitted to continue with SLMB...that may be vice versa...In any case would a simple appeal of denial be enough to gain eligibility or would she have to create a trust for a mere $23 ?

    • @_TrustAGED
      @_TrustAGED Рік тому

      Generally Medicaid allows for a $20 disregard. You might be able to appeal it, since it's so close, but they may hold firm that it's over the limit. Then, something would need to be done, like a trust or other means, to reduce the countable income enough to qualify for QMB. The difficult part is trusts like ours charge a fee for their services. Our minimum fee is $115, which is considerably higher than the $23 your sibling is over. In cases like this, the person needs to determine if it makes financial sense to spend money to gain the additional benefits of QMB. It's a case-by-case basis. If your sibling is in the state of FL, and this is something you would like to discuss, please call our office at 407-682-4111 and ask to speak to a trust advisor. *Disclaimer: we are not attorneys this does not constitute legal advice*

    How this program automatically qualified or how works

    • @_TrustAGED
      @_TrustAGED 2 роки тому

      In Florida, you have to apply through the Department of Family and Children (DCF) through their website. Since QMB is a Medicare Savings Program, it works in conjunction with Medicare, meaning once you are qualified for QMB, when you go to the doctor or hospital you give them your Medicare card AND your Medicaid card for coverage. You can also get dual-eligible Medicare plans that cover both programs and give you extra benefits. A Medicare benefits specialist in your area can help you with getting into the dual eligible programs.

      Took many calls to DCF but 1/2 of the problem has been resolved. I say 1/2 because the pharmacy part is fixed but doctors office visits, co-pays, coinsurance, and extra charges have not. Do believe from what I've read it is illegal for them to do this.

    • @_TrustAGED
      @_TrustAGED 2 роки тому

      @@jacktorrance2620 Is it possible you are on SLMB, QI1, or one of the other Medicare Savings Programs? Those programs aren't as robust as the QMB program, so they include the Low Income Subsidy (LIS) / Extra Help benefit which reduces the prescription cost, but those benefits wouldn't include other things like covering your coinsurance and deductibles. You would find this information on your most recent Notice of Case Action. Depending on where in Florida you are, you might be able to go into a local office and speak with someone. You can find that information here: www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/access/map.shtml. If you are on the correct benefits and you are not receiving what you are entitled to, you could also file a complaint. Here's information on how to do that. ahca.myflorida.com/Medicaid/complaints/

    • @_TrustAGED
      @_TrustAGED 3 роки тому

      Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the suggestion. To answer your question, it depends on what kind of Medicaid you have as to what is covered. Typically, when you have both Medicare and Medicaid, Medicare is the primary payer, and covers 80%, while Medicaid is the secondary payer picking up the remaining 20%. Your doctor or provider should have both insurances on file for billing purposes. Also note, if you have QMB Medicaid, the provider cannot "balance bill" you for the portion not covered by Medicare. Hope this helps!
