Real Joy: A Sermon on Zephaniah 3:14-17

Real Joy: A Sermon on Zephaniah 3:14-17 Multiple studies have proven that the holiday season exacerbates mental health issues. For some, the pressure to have “a perfect Christmas” can be overwhelming. For others, their loneliness is amplified. Such people need a real Christmas, one that results in great joy. But joy is not the same thing as happiness. It is infinitely better. Happiness is an em...
Remembering Why: A Sermon on 1 Thessalonians 3:9-1

Remembering Why: A Sermon on 1 Thessalonians 3:9-1 It is easy to get so caught up in the imagery-a tiny newborn baby, lying in the straw filled manger under a star-filled sky-that we forget the why. Why did the Son of God come into our world and take on human flesh? So that he might die as the sacrifice for our sins. One Christmas carol puts it this way. “Neither crib nor cross refuses, all he ...
Real Repentance: A Sermon on Luke 3:1-14

Real Repentance: A Sermon on Luke 3:1-14 The closer we get to Christmas, the greater the pressure. There is so much work to be done! We want our houses to look good for out-of-town guests. We want to impress people with the thoughtfulness of our gifts. What a welcome relief, therefore, to hear what is required to really be ready for Christmas: only repentance. You see, repentance is the opposit...

Heads Up: A Sermon on Mark 13:26-37 “Eyes on the prize.” That axiom stresses that when pursuing some good goal, focus is important. You don’t want distractions or a lack of self-discipline to keep you from obtaining whatever that prize might be. “Eyes on the prize.” You summon the willpower to fixate on that good thing. You let nothing divert your attention from obtaining the prize. The prize t...

Live Free of Judgement: A Sermon on Hebrews 9:24-28 Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) affects many millions of adults. It is more than shyness. SAD includes an acute fear of being judged. An individual with SAD struggles with everyday tasks like talking to people at work or school because he is terrified that he is constantly being evaluated. Even if you don’t have that disorder, perhaps you have e...

Give Like You'll Live Forever | A Sermon on Mark 12:38-44 Perhaps you have heard the axiom, “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die.” In other words, while you still can, use what you have in order to enjoy life to the fullest. If this life is all there is, St. Paul agrees that would be a good philosophy. Paul wrote, “If the dead are not raised, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die...
A Different Indifference: A Sermon on Daniel 3:13-28

A Different Indifference: A Sermon on Daniel 3:13-28 Jesus repeatedly told his followers that living as his disciples would bring hardship. Living life according to God’s Law is going to make one appear odd in the eyes of the world, perhaps even evil. Sharing a message of mankind’s sin and God’s gracious salvation can cause offense. So why not just stay silent if that makes life easier? Why not...

Followers Have a Mission-Mentality: A Sermon on 1 Corinthians 9:7-12, 19-23 “What’s in it for me?” It’s easy to look at life through the lens of that question, to make decisions based on perceived personal benefit. Perhaps at times we look at Christianity through that lens, wondering what we will gain from following Christ. “What’s in it for me?” Jesus first disciples asked that question. They ...

Followers Prioritize: A Sermon on Mark 10:17-27 People think that establishing priorities is about ranking things in order of importance. But it is more than that. We do not have unlimited time and energy. So, establishing priorities enables us to say “no” to things which might be good yet not truly important. Without proper priorities, one inevitably will pursue that which is nice while downpl...

Followers Submit: A Sermon on Ephesians 5:21-6:4 Love can cause harm. Consider the wife whose husband wants little to do with church. She loves him and does not want to upset him. So, when her husband wants her and the children to stay home Sunday morning, she complies without protest. That wife’s love for her husband hurts him, her children, and herself. Or consider the father who loves his ch...

The Recipe for Greatness: A Sermon on Mark 9:30-37 Humility and pride are polar opposites. Pride exalts self at the expense of God and others. Humility exalts God and others at the expense of self. Pride is the essential vice, for it increases one’s hunger for all other sins. Humility increases one’s hunger for the forgiveness and healing found in Christ. The one who is proud demands to be serv...

1 Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. 2 Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you-you are my God. 3 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. 4 Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. 5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. 6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. (Psalm 86:1-6, ESV) 6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. 7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. 8 There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. 9 All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. 10 For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. (Psalm 86:6-10, ESV) 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. 12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. 14 O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. 15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. 16 Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. 17 Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. (Psalm 86:11-17, ESV)

Hi my name is David and I'm from Northern Ireland and Oh my Goodness thank you so, so much for this sermon. I'm going through a very difficult time at the minute with anxiety and panic attacks. I was in my living room late last night facing an overwhelming fear and I just leaned forward to pray and I just started speaking out "Everything is going be alright" and I started experiencing an overwhelming peace. I got the courage to go to bed I happened to type the title into UA-cam and came across you. the Holy Spirit it truly beautiful I will continue to listen to this everyday until I pull through. Thank you all praise to God ..... Please pray for me

The Truth heals, raises the dead, gives eternal life, blesses all and brings Heaven down...but lies do the opposite... they cause suffering, death, eternal death, curses and brings hell on earth. So, why are the church leaders knowingly choosing lies? Why do they still shut the door to the Kingdom of Heaven, not giving anyone even a chance? 1) For status, power and money. (They trade all the treasures of Heaven for rust and dirt) 2) They hate Jesus and want to drag His name through the mud. (Everyone can see their hypocrisy and anti-Christ spirit) 3) They think OT Prophesies need to be fulfilled. (Jesus came to undo the works of the devil (1John 3:8) and bring Heaven on earth, but church leaders are re-doing them, bringing hell back on earth). 4) They think that they're the good children of God, doing His will (They are actually bad children, not bearing good fruit). 5)They think killing the Daughter of Zion will save them. (Anyone who eats the flesh of the Daughter of Zion will be consumed by fire. Gladly, many Angels have already Repented and were/will be Raptured Home.) These are the spirits of the Pharisees. They want to bring hell on earth, bringing about the very things they constantly complain about. It's a sad irony.

My wife and I took Pastor Matt’s Foundations Class, and it was very eye-opening and thorough as well as a great bonding experience for us. Pastor Matt is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and one of the best pastors we have had the pleasure of knowing. He even selflessly volunteered to hold a beautiful socially-distanced baptism for our daughter during the pandemic. He is a great leader, and we have truly enjoyed being members of The Way Church.

    1. Son of God, eternal Saviour, source of life and truth and grace, Son of Man, whose birth incarnate hallows all our human race, thou, our Head, who, throned in glory, for thine own dost ever plead, fill us with thy love and pity; heal our wrongs, and help our need. 2. As thou, Lord, hast lived for others, so may we for others live; freely have thy gifts been granted, freely may thy servants give: thine the gold and thine the silver, thine the wealth of land and sea, we but stewards of thy bounty, held in solemn trust for thee. 3. Come, O Christ, and reign among us, King of love, and Prince of peace; hush the storm of strife and passion, bid its cruel discords cease; by thy patient years of toiling, by thy silent hours of pain, quench our fevered thirst of pleasure, shame our selfish greed of gain. 4. Son of God, eternal Saviour, source of life and truth and grace, Son of Man, whose birth incarnate hallows all our human race, thou who prayedst, thou who willest, that thy people should be one, grant, O grant our hope's fruition: here on earth thy will be done.
