Donald Trump has revealed he is "supposed to be dead" after surviving an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally. In a recent interview, Trump credited "luck or God" for saving him, explaining that a bullet grazed his ear after he turned his head at the perfect moment.
"A spectator was killed, and two others were seriously injured in the attack. The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, also died.
Trump described the crowd's reaction after the incident, saying, "The energy from the people there, they just stood there. It’s hard to describe, but I knew the world was looking. I had to let them know we are OK."
Preparing for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he's expected to be confirmed as the party's candidate, Trump mentioned his speech will now aim to unify the country. "Had [Saturday's attack] not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches. Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now. It is a chance to bring the country together.”
