It's also full of great general information for looking after a wide range of different houseplants.

I really like your videos on plants! Can’t wait to see more so I can learn more about gardening. Gardening is a stress relief for me after I lost my daughter. It’s been a hit or miss growing things. But it can become very expensive. So this video is nice to know about different mulch for different plants. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hey there, I was wondering if you're planning to add any more to this playlist? :)
😂 so cute❤x
Hes absolutely adorable..beautiful too!❤😊
He is so cute god bless him 😊
He's my wee furry eejit 😂
Thank you for this handy tutorial! Amy I have little flys in and around my indoor plants, why and how do I get them gone? please help !! ❤🙏🏻 x
They are probably fungus gnats, tiny flies that feed on the fungus (often not really visible) that grows in the soil around plants. These can be an indication that you may be over-watering. If your plant is in a decorative pot, take it out and drain off any water sitting in the bottom of the pot. Stop watering your plant until the soil dries out properly, and then only water sparingly. You want the top of the soil to dry out in between watering, and that will deprive the flies of their food and you will stop getting them. You can use sticky traps to capture the flies, or if you really want to use them there are pesticides available in most countries to treat this - use strictly according to the instructions on the packaging. Avoid any gimmick houseplant "cures", e.g. milk, as this will make it worse. I hope that helps! 🥰🥰
@ thank you soooo much I will stop watering so much! 😊 your a star 💫 fingers crossed 🤞 they will go away! X

Thanks for sharing about orchids !
My pleasure, glad it was useful, good luck with your orchids! 🪷❤️
Fantastic video, my plants thank you!
So nice of you, thanks! 😁
It's really important to understand how to look after your houseplants in winter, especially orchids. More plants die from over-watering and wrong temperatures than from anything else, so show your plants some love and look for my simple tips to keep your plants happy and healthy during the colder months!
Fantastic!😍 What is tip to make beautiful?🤗
Let's not forget that hedgehogs user leaves to build their nests so one important thing to people is don't be greedy & take all the leaves from an area & always have a pile of leaves in your garden, it's a great habitat for them.
Fantastic reminder! I absolutely should have included that, I have two small log piles and a hibernaculum in my tiny garden (near the pond), and I always encourage everyone to think of wildlife and keep some wild areas in the garden 🦔❤️
LOVE THE RAT ONE!😍😍🐀🐀
Thanks! I adore rats 🐀🎃😍
Thank you. Love your joy as well.
Thank you. What a lovely kind thing to say ❤️🎃😊
Absolutely love it 🙂
Thank you 🥰
Looks so fresh!❤️ Is it morning? And your t shirts looks so lovely 😍
Thanks very much! It was actually the afternoon, but we get so much rain it always looks dewy- at least I don't have to do much watering! 💦☘️
If only every garden was like that, not only would they look great but our precious wildlife would be in a much better shape. I'm doing what I can in my little garden, I'm surrounded by gardens thar are either concrete slab jungles, gravel or fake grass but that just drives me to do everything I can for wildlife in my own garden. I'm glad you mentioned hedgehogs, that's the animal that was my driving force in turning what was just a patch of grass into something much more beneficial for wildlife, not just for hedgehogs but for all wildlife.
Didn't I see you on the waterboy
Not me, sorry 🤣
Good informative video presentation 😎
So glad you found it useful! 🍂🍁
I always wondered where poeple get their leaves
Any deciduous tree will give you plenty of leaves, but I'm cheeky and collect them from public footpaths as well! 🍂
Amy love this video, I am new to gardening! And have a question! I have an oak tree in my garden I was going to lawnmower the leaves up put them on my new flower beds to help nourish the soil , it was grass/ sandy mud! I’ve used cardboard on them topped that with compost then was thinking the oak leaves followed by fine bark mulch ? Would this be good for flowers next year? Thank you so much for your easy to follow videos ❤🙏🏻 x
Oh yes that would be perfect! The bark will help to keep the leaves in place, and if they get chopped up by the lawn mower they will break down even more quickly and put that goodness into the soil even faster. One word of caution, if you've used a week killer or a "weed and feed" on the lawn just be careful as any grass clippings could then potentially damage your lovely flowers. Don't put any fertilizer in the soil over winter, wait until spring to add it or it will just be washed away by winter rains. I'm so exited for you, I'm sure your garden will look gorgeous! 🌷🌹🪻🌼🌻🥰
Hi Amy, i liked your video very much and learned a bit more, but cut up /shreaded leaves with a lawnmower or strimmer will compost down a fair bit quicker
Yes, that is a great way to collect them quickly and they will break down faster if they are chopped up. Thanks for the comment, I'm so glad you liked it 😄
glastonbury?
I'm based in Northern Ireland, just out side Belfast, but the weather conditions would be similar in Glastonbury UK if that is what you mean?

Great video! Where did you get your hooded sweatshirt (jumper?) I live in the US so I dont't know if I could get it shipped here?...

Is this in a pot ?
No, that one is in the ground but it could be grown in a pot. It's on dwarfing root stock so as long as you have space for a container at least 2ft square you can keep it in a pot forever 🥰🍒
Hello Amy l want to know if apple could grow in Ghana?
Yes it is possible but you would be best to plant them in the ground and not in containers or pots. Choose varieties that like warm weather, like Granny Smith, Jonathan, Red Falstaff or Dorsett Golden, and make sure you keep them well watered in the first few years until they can grow sturdy roots. I grew up in South Australia and we had Granny Smith and Jonathan apples that both grew very well. Our summers were as warm as yours, and in winter our night temperatures were between 7-9°C (44.6-48.2°F), which I think is colder than you get. Apple trees need a bit of cool weather in winter to trigger them to make flowers and fruit, but I know of several experimental apple tree growers in Ghana who are getting fruit from their trees, so I think you will be okay. Good luck with your apples! Please let me know if you get some to grow 🍏🍎😄
wow so cool
Thanks, glad you liked it 🥰
@@amykellygardening oh yes loved it i need to up my game this all hallows lol I've always wanted to do a reverse shave the pumpkin thinngy I'm defo having a go at that lol
Wow I’ve always wondered how they make the very fancy pumpkins 🎃 thank you Amy so interesting, I grew my own pumpkin this year it’s pretty big so will enjoy carving it now I’ve watched your video! 😘
That is fantastic! You know I'm a big fan of growing your own fruits and veggies, I bet they will look great and taste delicious, too 🎃🥰
Amazing! Hands down the best jack o lanterns I have ever seen. Brilliant work
Wow, thank you! ❤️
They look amazing! 🎃❤
Thanks! They aren't hard to make, give it a try! ☺️
Lots of flowering plants like to have their seeds planted now so they get a blast of winter cold, and garlic actually REQUIRES cold to develop properly, so get these winter-loving crops planted before your soil freezes and you'll love what you can pick next year! 🧅🧄🌼
Hi amy,. Hope you are doing well , may i have your email id to message as i am also developing. Sustainable agriculture farming. I am eager to share and seek infos . Nice to know you and may i have your mail possibly. Kind regards
Ive just found your channel, absolutely brilliant ! your in depth info was great ! im going to binge watch your other videos now x
Wow, thank you so much! What a lovely comment! I only started doing this style of video in June 2024, so you will notice a difference in quality if you're watching older ones, but I put out new content every week now. Thanks again, and you are very welcome! 🥰
Will the broad beans survive winter in zone 8
Most years they will be fine as long as they are in well-drained soil and you don't get a particularly cold winter. They can cope with 14F, so most years they should be fine for you. Worst case scenario if it does get colder than 14F, you can pop some fleece or a cloche over the top to give them a bit of extra protection. I've never lost any to cold, but I have lost a few to those pesky slugs before now! 🐌 Good luck with it!
Thank you for kindly sharing this content
My pleasure, thanks for the lovely comment! 🥰
Amazing you grow them in N I
Yep, although you notice that I've cheated and put them against a sunny wall to give them extra warmth and protection :-)
Just love the jumper Amy, I always say that lol
Awww, thank y😆You have no idea how pleased this makes me! I'm really thrilled you noticed, because both the jumpers that you liked are my own clothing line that I'm about to launch. I've just got a few things to start with, but eventually want to bring out some lovely comfy and warm clothing for gardening (like trousers that have a high back so everything stays warm and covered when you bend over!). For now it's just tops and jumpers, but all ethically sourced and most are 50% recycled cotton, so making a good start. I'll put out the info on the channel when they are available to the public, and I'll be doing a give-away, so make sure you watch for it. Thanks again for the really kind comments 🥰
@@amykellygardening wow how cool is that?!?
🥰
I have to say I have killed most of my fruit trees
Don't worry, sometimes they just die and it's nothing you did. I lost a plum that I grew for 3 years before it finally fruited and then I realized it had a disease called plum pocket (would have come from the nursery with it) so had to get rid of it, and one of my quinces is barely clinging on to life no matter how much care and attention I lavish on it. Sometimes you just get a tree that is sick or not right from the start. Always worth having another go! If you're in the UK, watch for bare root fruit trees in Lidl in late winter/early spring. Cheap and surprisingly good! 🍎🍐🌳
@@amykellygardening ❤️❤️❤️
You should be on tv! The photography and close up and tutorial are first class. Bravo Amy!
Thank you so much! What a lovely thing to say! I had a wonderful mentor who taught me how to use the camera, so he'll be thrilled someone noticed the photography. Thanks again 🥰
So happy i found your channel Amy. So inspiring! Could you find time to dispel all this jargon on strawberries and protection for winter please! Thankyou.
No worries! What is it about strawberries that is worrying you? Regular strawberries are hardy (can cope with cold) down to -5C or 23F, so they don't need any protection from cold unless where you are gets really freezing. The only thing you need to do is possibly put some netting over them in summer once the fruit starts to ripen to keep the birds from eating it before you get the chance! If where you are gets properly cold in winter, just grow Alpine strawberries, Fragaria vesca alpina, which are happy covered in snow or with temperatures down to -20F or -29C. These are the ones I talk about in this video: ua-cam.com/video/WrPrpsyz1Xg/v-deo.html (18:30 minutes in) If there was another aspect of this you aren't sure about, or if you still have questions, please ask. Thanks, Amy
Wow Amy! Good on yer 👍
