Aviation in the form of a microlight. Fly around Scotland (and further afield) with me and we'll have a blast!
If you have a passion for aviation of any type, then you've come to a good place to find out a bit more about flexwing microlighting. If you've no idea what that is, it's basically a gigantic kite with a 3 wheel trike underneath it. Check out my videos below and see exactly what I mean!
In this channel, my aim is to share the flights I take around my home country, Scotland, while also taking you further afield around the UK, and show you the joy of flexwing flying!
To summarise a conversation I once had with a 737 pilot, flexwings are the go-karts of the sky... and a truer statement has NEVER been said! Make sure you subscribe, and come with me as I take to the skies!

Flying out to Lempitlaw, a beautiful Scottish Borders airfield!
Переглядів 5512 місяці тому
In a world where communication is shattered and danger lurks at every turn… Two pilots. Two aircraft. One high-stakes (not really) destination. Lempitlaw, nestled deep in the Scottish Borders… When radio signals fail and the circuit is a labyrinth of peril (ok, it's just really big), these two daring aviators must navigate the storm alone (it was quite windy, ok!?). Witness the adrenaline-pumpi...
Flying close to a Boeing Poseidon P-8 in my own little plane!
Переглядів 3352 місяці тому
DISCLAIMER - I don't actually race a Poseidon in this video. It would be awesome, but I suspect it might win. I'd also trash my plane! It's not every day you land up sharing airspace with one of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the Royal Air Force - a Boeing Poseidon P-8! When I initially saw it I wasn't sure what I was looking at, but suffice to say it had probably seen me before ...
Flying the Summer Solstice 2024 and bumping into some Fly-UK 2024 pilots!
Переглядів 4083 місяці тому
It's been on my bucket list for years, to fly the summer solstice - the longest day of the year. For those of you still scratching your heads, this is the one day of the year where the sun is up for the most amount of time, so the daylight extends to much later at night than you would expect. It doesn't happen like this all over the world, so to some this is an alien concept, but to us in Scotl...

Sounds great
hi
hi is me alastair graim
Hi! I'm from Latvia, but currently live in the UK. A few weeks ago I visited the Museum of Flight as well as the airfield. I had a conversation with the staff about flight training. I already have a little experience. Hope to join soon.
I enjoyed the interview. I hope she keeps her enthusiasm when the weather stops playing.
Subbed! Another fellow Microlight pilot channel in my feed. Can you do a video on your helmet cam set up?
Interesting, be great to see how Caroline gets on.
I start my lessons in a couple of weeks!
The word Wow seems to cover a whole load of flying experiences 😁
True that, i remember saying wow when i flew over my handlebars.
It's great to hear the drive that people have and trying to manage their own expectations....if only the weather would play ball as well. It will be great to see her progress. Love the new studio as well.
Very interesting, hope you will keep everyone up todate with Carolines journey maybe a step by step follow up (please)
Love it! Look forward to seeing Caroline start her flying journey next year!!
Please join us at Kingsmuir between 1000-1200hrs on a Friday, a group meet then for a cuppa and cake in the clubhouse, you will be made most welcome.
Great ideas. I will be flying again soon.
Frequency is actually 124.965!
You are correct… read the wrong line.
Great vid Graeme!
Thanks Peter!
Sharing the joy of aviation comes in many forms. Information and education is why we share our content.
It certainly is!
Great concept Graeme. Makes me think I really should put my GoPro back on my aeroplane 🙁
Feel free to get in touch with anything you feel is worth sharing!
Great job!! Wish you great flights from Brazil
Thanks!
Hey Graham. Thanks heaps for the video. Most enjoyable. I do the same sort of stuff here I Australia. Just wondering what camera gear your running.Cheers
Hi Martin! I stick to GoPro for everything recorded on the plane. In total I have 5 cameras I can connect at any one time, but I don’t always use them all. I always have something on my helmet though, because my audio records back to that camera. I’ve got GoPro 4 (x2), 7 (x2) and 9 (x1). Keep safe!
Finally had a chance to watch this! It's been an, er, interesting 2 days.... let's just say I am grateful for your help, and also, I will be paying back my wife for a while... and the video will be out in a few weeks!
Looking forward to it! It certainly has been interesting… and a bit fun too! Not so much for S though!
So 2 was the answer.. Looks like you times it perfectly.
Yup... that rain cloud came in after I landed and well... let's just say it wasn't pleasant!
I have brew in hand and I'm sitting comfortably to find out the answer to your question ;)
Best place to be after a long day of doing what you love ;)
No need to worry about the Poseidon.....they could see what you had for breakfast and what colour pants you had on, a long time before you were visual with them!😂
That was my thinking as well. lol
@@CentreofGravityUK 😂🤣👍🏻
Your voice sounds so relaxed anyone would think you were on holiday... In the mid 80s I was at RAF Dishforth on a Saturday gliding. We'd seen the BBMF Lancaster fly up the opposite side of the A1 and then though nothing else of it. A short while later I was on an aerotow, when all of a sudden I noticed movement. The Lancaster was flying back down the A1, closer to the airfield, and we were flying over it. I turned around to see the instructor in the back, face glued to the window. Awesome sight.
Was I on holiday then... Oh... I hadn't noticed... lol! I'd love to be in the same space as a Lancaster, what an honour!
Nice video. Good to see you are uploading more often.
More to come! I'm working on various little projects now... so keep an eye out :)
Lovely! That jet would have scared the bejayzus out of me! Apart from the odd scary military plane, we do have the most awesome playground to fly in!!
It was rather unnerving that's for sure!
Sneaky beaky stuff there Graham. 😉. It looked like a really enjoyable flight.
Cheers Giles! Did you see you got a name-check during the interview at the end of the Summer Solstice video?
@@CentreofGravityUK I'm still playing catch up.
What does give you the warnings? is it an app?
It's the audio feed I get from my PilotAware system. I have two antenna on the underside of my plane which serves as my conspicuity system (Google it). The PilotAware connects through Bluetooth to my Intercom which is all recorded into my GoPro setup.
@@CentreofGravityUK thanks a lot for that clear answer ! I will definitely google it
Good job.
Thanks!
East Fortune East is where cars/buses used to park for the Sunday Market many Moon's ago...🏴
I'll have to take your word for it. I believe they stopped the market near to when I moved up to East Lothian from London around 10 years ago!
Damned Microlighters! They’ll let anyone land at East Fortune, Norfolk freeloaders….
We're a very welcoming airfield at EF... ever if the inbound pilot is from Norfolk! 😉
If you know, you know - yep, I know 🤣 Cracking flight!!
😉 It really was awesome! Next year… we get it in the diary!!!!!!
Awesome flight. When I was in the RAF, groundcrew, occasionally I'd get a flight in sonething. The question would be, what do you want to to do. My thought was, it doesn't matter, I just want to get air under my wheels and I'll be happy.
Pretty much how I think when I see a hangar full of airplanes... poor things need to stretch their wings and fly!!!
@CentreofGravityUK Absolutely. I was having a fly in a Bulldog. This guy was University air Squadron so probably had two or three flights while he was there. I was lucky if I got one flight a year.
Don’t need to guess…. I recognise the fish farm and the houses! Was the ‘runway’ dry?
;) It was, thankfully. The helipad was still under construction though.
Swansea?
Nope... :)
lukla???
Nope... :)
🤣 so funny 🤣
I try! 😂
Shame I missed that - oh well, next year!
That’ll teach you to go on holiday!!!! 🤣
Always enjoy your videos, always well produced, thanks.
Thank you! Many more to come... I've been 'stock-piling' ;)
Yay! Graeme's back! Sharon was giggling away at the name drop - and I think she actually enjoyed the check flight - maybe the way she was shouting "WHEEEEEEE!" on some of the moves gave that away 🤣
Yep... I'm baaaaAAAAcckkkk!
Hi, that’s a very nice video!. A few years ago, I was flying a Pegasus 15 912 a few miles north of Edinburgh, and I encountered severe turbulence. The turbulence was so bad that the control bar was almost ripped right out of my hands!. I quickly realised that I was in a life or death event as I was struggling with the control bar, and I was very quickly tiring!. The fear made me want get low, and possibly find a landing site, but the lower I got, the worse the turbulence got!. So the only other option was to climb, and that was the answer, I put on a full power climb, and very soon I was out of it, and flying in smooth air again. When I flew out of Perth airfield some years ago, two guys were unfortunately killed, and the accident was attributed to severe turbulence!. So, you are very right, when you put a lot of time and effort into pre flight planning and trying to assess the winds!. But, there are times were life will throw you a curved ball, and you’ll be taken by surprise!. It’s how you deal with it when it happens, but I learned a hell of a lot when I got caught out, if I hadn’t made the decision I did that day, I honestly don’t know if I’d be here today!. And I had two people in the trike that day, but you look as if you are flying alone, so the trike will be a lot lighter, did you have any ballast in the back seat?.
Yep, pre-flight planning is the key. I’ve also taken a much keener interest in wind forecasting and understanding how variations in wind direction can influence the conditions we decide to fly in. It’s a massive subject. Glad you got through it and learned something too! That’s what it’s all about I guess! Learning!
Live your videos. On a path to get a trike here in the U.S.
How’re you getting on with your leaning? Have you got your own plane?
Enjoyed that from both of you and a great idea to open this up.
Thanks! It’s been a while since this was released… and would be good to hear if anyone else gave it a go!!!
I like it. I've been flying regular patterns like the Cessnas but was reprimanded by my instructor. 500'up and 500' out now. Keeps me within gliding distance of the field.
Thanks Ed! Keep up the circuits!!!
Well Done to you both. I loved both vids....This sounds a great idea!
Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe there’s a “Circuit Revolution” on the cards. 😉
👍
Thanks for the thumbs up, Patrick! 😊
Thanks for the video but please put the go pro on your chest it is somewhat disconcerting ..the constant s2aying back and forth as you turn your head .
Hi Martin, Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I can't put the camera on my chest for safety reasons. The setup I use also pushes the audio from everything I record up through my helmet and into that camera. My more recent videos use more than one camera as well... in fact, I'm now using 5 separate cameras, all recording my flights for you to enjoy... so the head cam is only 20% of the footage! I hope you enjoy those videos a little more! Keep well! G
is that Berrier ?
Troutbeck
That looked like a very spicy landing.
It was rather terrifying to watch!
