    I will preface by saying I am not a multi board owner. I've been riding the 158 Custom X since 2014 and ridden it in all conditions. Before that I was on a Burton Balance and same with that one. I still have and ride both. With that said I will make the statement that you can ride this board anywhere you want, and it will perform well if you know how to ride, turn, air, pivot, rotate, etc... When I bought this in Breckenridge in 2014 it was 50% off, my driving factor as usual. I've ridden this in deep snow all around the Rockies and never thought twice about if the board was capable of doing it. I always think if I am able to, the board will take me there. I think there are so many reviews that get so granular and use terms that become cliché. If you want a specific board for powder or park, then yes, they are available. But this board can easily do whatever you want. After living in Colorado from 05 to 2018 I'm back in Vermont and riding tight trees, steep bumps, hard scratchy east coast crud/ice, and Champlain Powder. Again,.. it handles everything that "I believe" that I can handle. Maybe it's time I bought a new one.

    Hey man great tip but im a beginner snowboarder and it seems you pick up a lot of speed that way. I feel more comfortable being able to ride “breaking all the way” down for now till I can gain more control of the board. I’ve been out only 3 times in Vermont and NJ so taking it slow. I will use your method once 13:15 13:15 I’m confident going faster. Do you feel I should be implementing your tip now? I’ll be on the mountain again this Weekend at Stratton.

    • @snowboard303
      @snowboard303 Рік тому

      There should always be something you are working on. Of course only do what you’re comfortable doing. My recommendation is to work on being efficient with your body movements and riding as smooth as possible while doing so. Pay attention to weight distribution and the angle of your board relative to hips and shoulders. Fun things to think about :) Happy shredding!

  • @djow4725
    @djow4725 Рік тому

    hey I think for coaching your friend, probably should focus on some more basic fundamentals first. The biggest issue that stood out to me is that he is breaking/bending at the waist which isn't good body position, and his knees are too straight. He isn't going to be able to do anything more advanced with that body position. Also, when you are freeze framing with your body in a straight line sticking out like "/"... that actually isn't ideal. You're right that you want your shoulders and hips aligned... but they shouldn't be sticking out forward/backwards beyond your edge, but better if they are directly above your effective edge so keep your weight centered. You actually want your weight stacked over the snowboard edge that you are on, because leaning too far forward or back will cause you to slide out in steeper or icier terrain. Your lower body should be bent more at the knees and ankles (more flexion of your lower joints), which will allow you to keep your weight stacked directed above your edge without leaning far forward or backwards. Still loved watching the video, but just wanted to point out those things as I think they are common areas that can prevent progression for riders. I really recommend snowboardaddiction videos on good fundamental body position for intermediate riders and the coaching vids on toeside and heelside turns for a good reference. Happy shredding!

    You might want to check to make sure your helmet is buckled every time you put your helmet back on. For carving, maybe slow it down a bit and focus on riding your edges more on flatter terrain.
