    football needs the same changes basketball introduced. you need timers that force a team to take a shot or finish their play within a certain time. what we're seeing is that for large portions of the match, teams are just keeping possession at the back. thank you guardiola and mourinho for taking football here. they both broke the game.

    I'm 67 yo and do not agree with him at all, players today a far superior to the old guard. technically and physically. We always tend to romanticize things in our past.

    He is absolutely right. Just look at the Euro with awful and boring games from England or France with their outstanding players. Just some teams like turkey or Georgia had this will to play football with heart and the only game with high quality and entertainment was espagna against Germany.

    Football has no flair and style these days...very few players even know how to dribble...nowadays players make a bunch of step overs for nothing. Gone are the days when players used to dribble with little shimmies, drop of the shoulders and jinkie runs...

    He is appreciated for what he did as coach decade or so ago, tactics change, and overtime coaches find more efficient ways to play and win; 3 points talk, that's all. Think of it like a puddle of water condensing down to a few drops on the ground, what has been done already won't work as well anymore, opposing teams catch up to the curve after 1-3 years of a team's dominance around the continent. There's just so much you can do with tactics, and trophies don't win themselves, if you don't take the initiative to be an innovator then other teams will do it instead, Bielsa was also an innovator, unfortunately the tactics will change. Only a few teams could play against Barcelona and give them a run for their money, took a few years for the other teams especially in La Liga to catch up.

    Association football (soccer) was all I was thinking about for most of my life, my passion, my identity, my hobby (both watching games as well as playing). But I rarely watch soccer (and don’t you dare complain about that name) now, I still follow my favourite club (not as passionately as I see to but still), and watch the Euros and sometimes a big game with my family or friends. But my time invested in the sport is only a small fraction of what it used to be. The game is simply pretty sh*t. All about money, rich clubs and leagues acquiring the best talent, smaller/less wealthy leagues and clubs have to do with leftovers. So much corruption in the big football federations, a culture of silliness, disrespect and “stylish bogans”on the pitch and beyond. Footballers are intellectually brain dead because education apart from football is given zero value. And despite all the money, many aspects are still so unrefined and amateurish. The VAR is so obscure, no one hears what they are discussing with the ref, it takes ages. Refs have become even worse since the inception of the VAR, so lazy. Tactics are usually quite boring, everything is so unoriginal and generic. I watch other football codes now. Look up Gaelic Football, and you see what modern Association football is lacking. Football should be about pride, passion, respect, sportsmanship, hard work, competitiveness and culture. Soccer is about money and fame.

    He’s spot on. Everything is so robotic and repetitive now. Spontaneity is gone. Different styles of play are gone. Everyone is trying to be budget Barcelona/Man City, the same teams dominate constantly, FFP/PSR stops teams catching up to the big teams, VAR stops fans celebrating goals. Everything is too expensive, from tickets to replica shirts to tv packages. Football has left behind the people that made it what it is today. And it’s sad

    Football is getting boring and less attractive. The endless back passes, nobody is dribbling, the faking, the fall inside the 18, instead of shooting and the defenders dodging the ball as if it is a bullet. I can hardly watch a full 90 minutes. This is all due to the negative tactics of coaches who are afraid of losing.

    I agree. The last year just gone, towards the end of the season, i felt a massive falling out of love with the way the sport is. The incorrect application of VAR, the incompetence and the potential corruption of officials, the oil corrupt state nation backed clubs that never get punished, the huge transfer fees that keep going up and up and up, the FFP confusion. Its not the same anymore. A club with 115 charges won the treble and nothing is being done. This will be the first year where i wont wake up at all hours to watch my team or the huge games as i just havent got the love and passion for the game now, that i used to have. An independent regulation type system is not the solution, getting the government involved is not the solution, introducing AI to VAR is not the solution; all of those outcomes will only make football much worse and more corrupt. Especially if the government gets involved. The politicisation of football and sport, also, is disgusting. That does not belong in football or sport. Football unites and should not be used as a tool for politics or to enforce a government narrative that is inherently divisive whilst posing as the opposite.

    It’s not going to be a popular comment, but if you, like me, don’t like the overpaid, entitled men, the pure business side of football, the lack of passion, the diving The answer is women’s football. The average female footballer earns 45k a year in top English flight. They take more risks, they play with more passion and they don’t dive around. It’s improving fast- the top female footballers have better technique. Yes, the men are quicker and stronger- but they are also more robotic and cash driven. The artist players are dying, because the sports stats only suggest certain methods of play, and the small clubs develop players pure to fit in the systems the big clubs want. It’s all about churning a profit. Women’s football has the qualities the men’s game has been lacking- and it’s not things that can be measured out on a stats sheet. Expect the men’s game to become a boring sludge over the next years, with the bright lights few and far between.

    • @LomuHabana
      @LomuHabana 6 днів тому

      The more the sport improves, the more it will become like the men’s game I am afraid. But good suggestion, female women’s football is underrated in terms of what those women put into the game.

    • @shackletonway
      @shackletonway 6 днів тому

      @@LomuHabanamost people won’t find the time to watch both- the fact that women’s tournaments are in alternating years will give people a very clear view what is happening. It may go the way of the men’s game, but the viewership of women’s football will directly challenge the men’s game. Think of this: the game in football which is the biggest payout is promotion to the premier league. At the end of the day, just being there is the real gold- that speaks volumes of the new style of football to come- it’s about not losing the high paying job, rashford turning up to play for 6 months and getting a mammoth contract and doing FA after. The culture in women’s football is being defined now, and its popularity will be that it has become the antithesis of what the men’s game has become. If the men’s game will back viewers ( I’m talking in international football and 15/20 years into the future) they will have to change course so dramatically- they will have to rid themselves of building players based on stats and for reselling. Women’s football money is so fractionally low compared to the men’s game, it’s almost a complete waste of time in the current market to trade women’s players for profit- as even bad men’s players go for more than the best women’s. The rise of the women’s game will coincide with the bubble bursting in the men’s game. It’s going to happen. I can’t predict how but people will remember these times as the start of the decline of men’s football and the start of the rise of women’s. If women will end up the same way as men? If they learn from where the men went wrong, it won’t happen. But time will tell. Until then enjoy the incredible journey that will unfold
