I do enjoy 4 and to a lesser extent 5, I personally believe that the latter installments are effectively like Disney Marvel movies. My favorite parts were when they brought out older characters who just seemed more interesting. Kait, Del, JD, and Fahz just seemed like the Disney Teen show where every bit dialogue was pretty much setting up one joke after another, and their serious moments just kind of fell flat in my opinion. When Dom had to kill his wife I had a hard time being able to watch the screen, when Kait had to kill her mom I thought "Wow she's taking her time on this huh." On positives of the newer games, to not sound like an old grouch, the gameplay and design I feel is great, they have a great variety of weapons and the new enemies are interesting. Another negative however, and this is the old grouch talking, is that I think "The Swarm" is a dumb name. On the design, from a lore perspective, the COG just went through a near century of war, they had a very brutal aesthetic (skulls and stuff) and then immediately went into the Locust war, when that was over and they were finally rebuilding their image changed (ditching the skulls and less dry personalities) which makes sense. On the subject of characters I do not like Kait at all, she just strikes me as the forced "strong woman" character whose personality is bitch, and while she isn't always a bitch she just doesn't really have any redeeming qualities, things are handed to her and characters just like her for her one personality trait. Anya and Sam on the other hand don't come across as forced, they can change their moods and compliment the other characters well. Kait is just bitch. JD and Del on the other hand I find their friendship very believable, their characters I feel are well done by comparison. In 4, Kait only really seemed to care about her mom and not much else, she didn't try to comfort JD when he believed his dad was dead, but JD and Del had been very supportive of her mom's rescue. My only real complaints about 4 and 5 are just most of the dialogue and some of the characters seem childish for their age, which is forgivable, but Kait is just unlikeable.

Man..sorry but I have never seen someone playing so bad... you are playing like someone with ocd.. murder all the missile units for nothing, do not capture buildings, do not manage funds well, do not build proper base defenses.. you even sold two refineries just to build a new one on the same place half a minute later... let your troops being murdered from a building next you whole game long

2019 was 5 years ago!? That’s crazy man. Getting old is weird. I was in high school. Finished my first two years of college, Elden ring DLC just came out, the next Gears game was announced, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 are getting remakes. I just started playing Gears 1 with my girlfriend for the first time, hopefully we can play them all down the road.

To this day I remember my reaction to doms death I knew it was coming after Maria died either him or carmine were gonna die but once I saw the title “brothers to the end” it all but clinched it, I was sitting in my chair watching the cutscene believing I saw a blue light showing that dom jumped I was hoping so badly to see him rescue Marcus at the end I kept hoping and wishing he would come back but once the credits rolled I knew it was permanent no dom no happy ending nothing it’s very rare a game can make you feel genuine sadness and remorse but that’s just how good the original trilogy was I’ve been a gearhead since 2 and likely will never stop

Like you I’ve played the campaigns of each game multiple times, and I have to agree, this game has some of the best voice acting I’ve seen. Even if I like some games over others, the voice acting is always top notch in every game. Along with the multiplayer, characters bantering like when they pick up a meat shield or a weapon. I think I have favorite voice lines from each character, campaign and multiplayer. My top favorite is when a locust picks up a weapon and just says, “Shiny”. Thank you for making this and also for appreciating the stellar voice acting!

Before I watch this vid, I usually turtle to the point that I cover a large portion of that map to the point that the enemy AI only have one Tib vein to harvest with. After exhausting their only Tib vein, enemy AI would spend cash on harvesters (while I destroy everyone of them that passes) to the point that the enemy AI is crippled economically. I technically won the fight earlier than I expected 😝
