Hey everyone! Are you a survivor of childhood sexual abuse or are you dealing with breast cancer? If so - you are in the right place! I am a survivor of a decade of child sexual abuse, and in 2014, my abuser (bio-father) was convicted of his crimes and sentenced to 14 years in prison. I want to tell my stories of abuse, navigating the court system, and survival, in an effort to help others in similar situations find hope and strength as they go through their own struggles. In early 2022, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This turned out to be the catalyst I needed to finally get this channel started. In addition to the previous plan, I'll take you with me through my cancer struggles and recovery. I hope that whichever videos you chose to watch, that my stories bring you joy, hope, inspiration, or just make your life better in a meaningful way! Thanks for listening in. I’m Janae Cherie, and I’m here to tell my stories.
My Personal Tips for Abuse Victims Testifying in Court
Testifying in court against my abuser was one of the most liberating experiences in my entire life. For the first time, he was not controlling my actions, manipulating the narrative, and blackmailing into submission. I was standing up for myself and standing up for the truth. I was showing the world what he had done to me and for the first time, the world saw him for what he was.
An abuser. A pedophile. A monster.
I’ve compiled a list of 16 tips and suggestions for those who are preparing to testify in court against those who have hurt them. It’s hard to do! It’s emotionally and physically exhausting, and often brings with it feelings of anxiety, sadness, and turmoil. I hope that this helps you to mentally and physically prepare for testifying in court.
And, most importantly, I hope that you too can get the JUSTICE that you deserve.

How my abuse came to light, so that I could get JUSTICE
Переглядів 1205 місяців тому
For years I suffered in silence. I escaped my abusive home at 18 years old, but then was stuck watching at a distance, hoping that my siblings weren’t experiencing a similar fate. I was stuck. I didn’t think I had enough evidence to go to the police and I didn’t think they would listen to me. How wrong I was. This is my story of how my oblivious (and abuse enabling) mother, a school counselor, ...
Surviving Childhood Abuse - Why did I never report it?

After two years of starting this channel, I’m finally starting on my videos related to my childhood abuse and my journey working with law enforcement, the court system, getting custody of my sisters, and more. To start this journey, I thought that it would be fitting to start by answering the question of “Why didn’t I report my abuse?” So many people suffer from abuse every day, and they do it ...

Chemotherapy is exhausting! One of the first tell-tale signs that you have cancer is the hair loss. Hair loss (particularly once you lose your eyebrows and lashes too) makes it very obvious that you are going through a hard time. And honestly, it really feels like a violation of your entire being, in that this cancer is doing something that impacts your whole visual identity, completely without...
Getting My Head Shaved After Chemotherapy Made it Fall Out
Переглядів 1856 місяців тому
In this video, it was 3 weeks after I had started my AC Chemotherapy treatment. My scalp was hurting like crazy and my hair was falling out in chunks. I was miserable and I didn’t like what I was seeing in the mirror. The hair had to go, before it clogged all my drains! My dear friend Jenny volunteered to shave my head so that I could move to the next phase of this chemotherapy journey. While m...

You look beautiful!
You are a very strong woman .you have been through so much, ❤
What a terrible experience I’m so sorry I wouldn’t be able to stand it either!
@@roselucht4583 Thank you! I know many women have used the cold cap successfully and without so much pain, but it definitely wasn’t for me!
😂 ure so funny! I love ur sense of humor!
@@NadineHokayem-Dali You are so sweet, thank you!
Extremely helpful video Thank you!
@@NadineHokayem-Dali I’m glad that was helpful!
Im sorry youve had this awful experience. I am luckily 'one of these pepole' who is doing cold capping. Today i have had my 7th treatment of 12. I am aware this can be pysically and psychologically stressful and painful but i would respectfully encourage anyone whos thinking about it to give it a go if its important to you, as individuals we should make informed decisions. TOTAL respect to you for giving it a go ❤ ❤ ❤
@@christinewhite656 I’m so glad it’s working for you! And I agree - I hope it doesn’t sound like it’s discouraging people from trying, if it’s important to them, but I also really wanted to be able to share my experience because it was so awful and I didn’t feel prepared for what I went through. Hopefully no one else has the same experience, but if they do, I hope that this shows them that they aren’t alone. Best of luck to you on your journey. ❤️❤️
I have seen a lot of videos from doctors here on UA-cam that explain how to starve cancer.I wish you all the best God bless you
Thank you for sharing. Sorry you had a bad experience. Hope you feel better and the treatment works for you.
Pancake boobs😂
Hope your healing and recovery is progressing smoothly. I am one week post surgery and dealing with numbness in the armpits and working on range of movement in the right arm. All the best ❤
@@PatriciaSelin I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. Wishing you the best of luck on your recovery! ❤️
You are a cool lady, amusing
@@lindaferrari5182 ❤️ thank you!
It is brutal in U.K. they do you as a day case and give you paracetamol and two fake boobs. After 14 days you go back to the hospital for the bandage off. I am a pensioner and live alone. that first week isn't fun is it.
It certainly isn't fun! I hope your recovery has gone well since then. ♥️
God be with you and give you strength 😞. I am so sorry. This was very upsetting, but for those who have to deal with this. It’s better to get an idea of different experiences. 😞🙏🏻
That's why I shared my story - It felt like such a nice idea to get the cold-cap at the beginning (to keep my hair and have less visible signs of the disease) but oh my goodness it was awful. I thought it would be helpful to those trying to weigh the pro's and cons of trying it, if they could hear my story too. I am glad it was helpful for you!
@@janaecherie 🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻 God bless you threw these hard times with new found health and strength. 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing this! I wasn’t given any exercises to do. Today is week two since my double mastectomy. I’ll see my plastic surgeon next week again I assume to get my drains out.I’ll ask about exercises. I tried the three you shared and oh it feels good in my shoulder area.
@@roselucht4583 I’m so surprised! They gave me exercises to start as soon as I was able. I’m glad the video was helpful for you and I wish you the best of luck on your recovery! ❤️
You are sooo charming and upbeat! absolutely beautiful! bless you!
You are so sweet! Thank you! 😍
I could not do chemo because of 1 Corinthians 11-15 it says your hair is your glory so I feel it is not biblical
@@kelleywatt4167 That’s so interesting. I grew up in a very strict Baptist sect and they never argued against medical treatment nor hair cuts. So you’ve never cut your hair before? I’ve always heard that it’s better for your hair to be cut to keep it healthy. Seems like a lot to maintain! I definitely couldn’t do it.
Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
Of course! I’m so glad you found it helpful!
Another thing we have in common 😢
😢😢 I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending hugs your way! ❤️
I don’t believe anyone can ever be told they are cancer free, NED is the best assurance , no evidence of disease. Seeing my oncologist today, 2 years since my diagnoses and journey began, lumpectomy, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy now with Zometa infusions for bones, I am 67
That’s a very reasonable perspective. You are very right - there’s certainly a possibility of cancer cells floating around in here. I’m just hoping that all the treatments nuked the heck out of all these cancer cells so hopefully I never see it again! ❤️ Best of luck to you and your journey.
30 HOURS of testifying?!
Yeah… 2ish hours during the preliminary hearing. 14 or so hours in the 1st trial, and I think 16 or so during the second? I don’t have exact numbers, but I estimate 30ish total. It was absolutely exhausting!
🙏Super helpful! Your step by step explanation has helped me feel more calm about what to expect when I have my bilateral mastectomy in a few days.💕
Oh, I’m so glad it was helpful! Best of luck on your mastectomy. The recovery is hard, but it gets better every day. Sending hugs your way ❤️❤️
Thanks for posting. My GF has high anxiety over her upcoming s8ngle mastectomy 8n two days and how to manage the drains. All the best to you!
I’m so sorry she’s going through that! So nice of you to be doing research for her. I hope my videos can help her to understand what to expect over the next weeks and months! ❤️
I am toast. Doctor said for me to go get my affairs in order. Prognosis was for maybe a year after therapy. Therapy ended in October. I'm in so much pain. Soon I'll be medicating and when pain is too great hospice. Fuck me running.
I am so sorry to hear that! That sounds absolutely unbearable and I can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through. I hope that the doctors can find a way to make the time you have left pain free and that you can spend time with those you love. Sending virtual hugs your way… ❤️🫂
I just can't stand mothers who protect the abuser, so narcissistic.
It really is. And it’s hard - I had to cut all contact with my mother about 10 years ago because it was really bad for my mental health being around her. It’s especially hard because I do believe that she’s also a victim of my father’s abuse and I have pity on her for that. BUT she made a choice as a mother to not protect her children and stand by him… along with trying relentlessly to manipulate and gaslight all her kids into her own distorted version of reality. As much as I love her and wish she’d get some therapy to come to terms with reality, it’s not healthy to have a relationship with her. While I do see her occasionally at family events, I keep my distance and refuse to engage with her anymore for my own sanity.
Brilliant outcome!
Thank you! I’m so grateful for those who supported me on this journey and helped me to get justice 💙
Where did you go for treatments?
I live in California and have Kaiser through work. I’ve heard mixed reviews about treatment from them, but honestly I LOVED all my doctors and nurses and surgeons and feel so grateful to everyone there for providing such a supportive treatment and healing environment.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you are still doing great. ❤
I am doing well, thank you! I’m glad you found the video helpful! ❤️
I'm so sorry you went through that. I understand why you didn't come forward.

That’s one of the strange things I’ve heard about from many women is that their hair grew back curly after having chemo. One that I can think of offhand is a lady named Jessica from the UA-cam channel, Krock in the kitchen. She went through a cancer ordeal somewhere over a year ago. She was totally surprised when her normally straight hair came in curly. Also, She had her eggs frozen and her cousin carried her now 3-4 month old daughter. But even though she has NED her husband is now battling kidney cancer that came out of nowhere. Sorry, didn’t mean to get off on a tangent. It’s just that I’d been following them and realize how life takes weird twists and turns sometimes.
Life certainly does take some crazy twists and turns! I’ll definitely need to check out Jessica’s channel - it sounds like life has given her some challenges for sure. It was the weirdest thing to realize that my hair was coming back curly, and I have NO IDEA how to cut or manage it, since I’ve never had it before. So different!
My sister will go through this after her chemo in few weeks followed by removal of oraries and fallopian tubes. (BRACA2 mutation). Thanks really for sharing. 😭
Oh wow, I'm so sorry she's going through this. I hope the videos will help her to understand some of what she can expect moving forward. Sending much love your way!

Hi just came across your video I am 12 Years post mastectomy everything is still going great love to know how you are now ❤❤
That’s amazing! I am cancer free (yay!) and finally had my last reconstruction surgery just a couple months ago! I’m finally finding the energy and time to edit and upload my videos that I’ve recorded through the cancer journey and I’m hopeful that other folks dealing with this will find them helpful on their own journeys. Sending much love your way! ❤️
I see you are posting these videos about a year or so after your procedures and finding of your cancer. I’m really glad to hear that you are cancer free after and are posting these videos. Best of luck. Oh, and are you considering talking more about your early childhood trauma? When I first heard your story on that I was so looking forward to learning more about your journey on that. It could really help people… like me. Thank you!
@@terri5757 Hi Terri! Yes - I have full intention of doing that. I’m so sorry it’s taken so long. Cancer just kinda dominated everything for a while there. I’m currently in the process of editing a couple videos related to my childhood trauma and will have those uploaded soon! Are there any specific topics that you would find helpful? I don’t have a lot of viewers so I’m kinda flying blind here. Would love to know what people want to hear about!! ❤️
Thank you for being so brave and willing to share. Breast cancer survivor here that lives in daily fear of it returning. Prayers for your recovery journey.❤
Congratulations on being a survivor! I’m officially cancer free, but finally have the energy get these videos edited and uploaded. I’m hopeful that they will help others going though our same journey with finding hope and understanding what to expect. Sending much love your way! ❤️
I’m in the same situation right now and needed to hear this. I’m turning 40 in a couple weeks, just had mastectomy and starting chemo in 3 weeks
I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through the same situation. I am just finishing up a video about my first day of chemotherapy and it should go live tomorrow. I have a few others related to chemotherapy going live in the next 2 weeks as well (it just takes forever to find time to edit and upload them!). I hope you find it helpful as you prepare for your own journey. Best of luck with your treatment!
So proud of you! You and I both have gone through IVF. I have female issues and it's been an adventure for sure. I'm here if you ever want to talk 😊
Oh wow! I didn’t know that you had done the IVF process as well. Good luck on your own adventure and I hope you get the outcome you are looking for! ❤️
