This fire was in Hamtramck Mi. Not Highland Park! August 1984. The building complex was called Ida Windows, you can see the name on the water tower on the roof! Departments that responded Hamtramck Fire initial response, Highland Park fire dept. 2nd. Alarm, Detroit fire dept. 3rd. 4th. And 5th. Alarms.

back in the day when departments had multiple different manufactuers of apparatus. i'm from trenton, nj and i remember when the trenton fire dept had front line pieces of american lafrance, hahn, FTI, mack, sutphen, maxim, pemfab, etc etc all in front line service pieces; it was such a diverse world of fire apparatus back in those days. now its pierce, pierce, pierce, pierce, sutphen, pierce, e-one, and pierce, lol

The Detroit FD Clown Team still uses that same Ford truck today, (21:06) it was in the Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.

Thank you for posting this. I was driving the 1985 GMC 7000 that was formerly from Cheboygan. I was playing the Ecto 1 siren on an off during the parade. At this point I wasn't sure if the horse drawn carriage was still in front of me or not so I hadn't turned the siren on yet. Oh and on the way back this way we played the Cops theme song Bad Boys lol.

Just for information, the summer parade sequence is actually in East Detroit (Eastpointe) on NB Gratiot. It was taken from in front of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and shows the corners of Charles R and Camden on the opposite side of Gratiot. I cannot identify the location in the beginning shot in the winter though, but I know I have seen the big white building before.
