Shapez 2 MaM Short Pin Pushing
Переглядів 163 місяці тому
Pin Pushing is hard to automate. There, I said it. Be that as it may, I'm slowly knocking down the exceptions...it's very satisfying to see the final output match the required shape. My first iteration of pin-pushing got me two shapes in the random selection (level 54 and 55). When 56 hit, it had exposed pins on the top level. This required me to make a dummy layer with the correct configuratio...
Shapez 2 MaM 4 Layer Now with Crystals!
Переглядів 863 місяці тому
The MaM now handles (basic ) crystals! The order of operations is a little different since crystals cannot be dropped. The crystallizer uses logic to open and close the fluid pipes to select the color. This is different from the painter (although I could have made the painter this way). The crystal-making hardware is bulkier and requires two input pipes. Things this version still can't do: -Lay...
Shapez 2 MaM Crytallizer work in progress
Переглядів 363 місяці тому
Integrating Crystals is going to be tough...creating the individual layers is not too bad, but getting them stacked, pin-pushed and assembled is going to require either a lot of brute force or fancy logic. This platform complex is the first step. The base logic looks to see if any quadrants are crystals, and if so, the layer goes through the crystallizer. The additional logic determines the col...
Shapez 2 MaM 4 Layer Any Shape Any Color
Переглядів 3603 місяці тому
The Make Anything Machine is now capable of all 4 layers. De-coupled both shape farm and fluid farm from the actual constructors. This allows feeding pipelines asymmetrically instead of having a one-to-one correspondence. Also simplifies duplication efforts as the train lines can be arbitrarily long. Not sure whether I will move on to crystallizers and pin pushers next or work on optimizations...

    Nice work! One tip I have is moving painting stage in before cutting. By painting a whole shape before cutting it into quarters, you get 4 x amount of finished quarters for the same amount of work.

      Thanks for the input! :) There's a lot of efficiency left on the table with this setup for sure...my decision to sort/assemble/paint/stack in that order is arbitrary, but I'm not sure it would be much faster in a different order. I could add a combiner to each channel once the quads are determined and pass whole shapes through the paint pipeline, and it would save paint, but it would also mean I have to combine them into whole, then deconstruct them again after the paint station. I'll definitely think about it for future revisions!

      @@Cliff_Anderson Im not sure if I am understanding you wrong or if you are understanding me wrong. What I am proposing is this. Let's say the shape you are trying to create only has one layer, for simplicity sake of the argument: If top right corner is a white square, you can paint a whole shape of squares white, then cut it into quarters and rotate them all into the same orientation, which is top right. Now you have 4 white top right corners ready to be combined into the final shape. ( no need to "combine them again after the pain station") You save yourself having to paint each corner individually. Painters use the same amount of paint regardless of what's being painted, so you would save yourself a lot of paint used. Hope it helps!

      I gotcha :) Thing is, my raw materials are rarely full shapes, so I would have to combine them first, then paint, then split...with the size of the playfield, there's no shortage of colors out there. I know...inefficiency is heresy :)

    I own an 82 Capri RS 5.0 and what spindle setup are you using? Want to upgrade to SVE 17" Mesh wheels that LMR has. The Mesh wheels come in 4 lugs and 5 lugs versions. I have 14" Mesh wheels from the 80's on it now. Reading that the 94/95 spindles are the way to go. Also looking at 87-93 spindles.

    • @Cliff_Anderson
      @Cliff_Anderson 3 роки тому

      My spindles are from a '90 mustang parts car that I bought. I went with the 87-93 5 lug kit from LMR, but if I had to do it again, I would have sourced the later spindles. I originally bought the FR500 wheels, but they didn't fit over the center cap. Looking back, it seems like there are more wheel choices for the original 4 lug than there are for the 5 lug conversion. I never really wanted the 5 spoke wheels that are on there now, but they were one of the few that fit. I have just recently replaced them with Aero Race Wheels steelies that look pretty awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting! It's nice to know somebody is watching haha!

      @@Cliff_Anderson Yeah well I would love to have a turbo charger on my Infiniti G 35. And as far as I understand there are kits made specifically for my car. But I don’t have the courage or the skill that you have. So as I said I am very impressed! :-)

    Not enough air at idle. I just went through this with the Camaro

    • @Cliff_Anderson
      @Cliff_Anderson 4 роки тому

      That was definitely part of it. Idle air motor settings are really finicky with this motor...partly because the cam has so much overlap.

    Are you planning on taking this to a track or just hauling ass around town?

    • @Cliff_Anderson
      @Cliff_Anderson 4 роки тому

      It'll never be a "race car" but I've had it to our local eighth mile track a couple times. It has too much sentimental value for me to rag on it or tub it out. My goal is to have a well-rounded car that can do it all without being a disaster on the street. Once things settle down, I'm going to start putting it through its paces and see what breaks first. That will probably drive the upgrade path in the future...
