Here we are with round 2 and 3 of the losers bracket, some very quick battles this time! Still, there's some fun to be had, including ships being lifted up by internal explosions, collisions and even some great performances from ships that focus mostly on looks.

the FtD AI knows that ramming speed is best speed, regardless of what its creators may think
Trying to force it into a non-ramming behavior will not stop the hectors from taking control

Spoilers: Were the Brick Walls out of guns or did I miss them firing, not that it matters the dps on my fleet is kinda trash due to a couple mistakes i made. No clue what sally was doing at the end though. All my ships have turning props in addition to their rudders usually both front and back unless I'm out of room. I enjoyed the Python disguising itself as the Viper to fool its enemies, very smart tactic.
The rule for this very specifically states "...if it didn't gain too much of a lead on its opponent beforehand". So, even if the Walls did run out of guns, they still had a rather big lead allowing them to win. Still, you put up a good fight, shame your fleet didn't make it as far as your airship last time.
@@aacannonman2896 yea, I wasn't expecting the loss to be overturned I knew at that point it was a DPS check. There's a good chance they'll be back for round 2 with a couple alterations.
I've been building out my fleet for a campaign run and this is good background. Any ship reviewers willing to tell me how garbage my ships are and how?
If you're looking for good ship reviewers, I can recommend checking out the help channel in the official FtD discord server. They know things better than even I do

I'm not sure if PACs are bugged right now, all the ones on my engine test fortress keep exploding themselves.
Might be the case, although it seemed like the PAC on the Imortal was working just fine later in the video. Maybe it was just battle damage after all

Nice! Watching now: anyhow interceptors are better reverse launch for quick action as the launch speed is slower, however the tuning is extremely sensitive and you gotta have the perfect tuning, these ints are so freshly developed I haven’t shown them in a empirical testing video yet! And yeah I use on turret shells because I want to have my shell preloaded for specific turrets! Also I made it to work in campaign as well so it has detection and all that. Glad it was approved will be fun to see how it goes!
The "turning everything white" your VC was upset about... is the wake, which is part of the entire point of the render distance mod lmao But the effect *is* maybe a touch too strong atm, especially with bloom on, the shader fx they're using needs to be made indifferent to bloom and be stripped of lighting properties, plus probably given more transparency
I think I really did repeat myself often enough about loving the wakes in this new version 😂. We shall see if there will be a version that makes the wake less intense soon, I will certainly update the mod. Even if there is no such update though, during battles I think the wake around the ships matters much less for obscuring vision, instead it will just look much cooler

@aacannonman2896 it's good and you learn quickly, but there's better venues in Hamburg.
Just wanted to clear some things up about my craft. The hallow point on my aps (and possibly Skovy's cram) is that it allows a bit of kinetic damage, but also keeps the contact fuse. if i were to use an ap head, I might do more kinetic damage, but I would loose damage overall from ricochet. Also the hole in the stern of my ships are unintentional. The original design had a towed decoy there that I removed and forgot to patch the hole.

Communication for Newbee Rumble mainly occurs on a Discord server called "The Arena" (discord.gg/Z84kWmmj), which also has a bunch of other FtD tournaments. This is where the rules for NR are posted, where I stream the battles and also where I generally answer the fastest to any questions.
damn, i entirely forgot to check for repair bots. and the missile fp now that I think about it Edit: yes the Legion's Ire was in round 1 of nr15 replaced by the Abhorrence for round 2. the new version has different APS shells, shields, and the turret caps on the crams look better. The simple weapons on the Hunter's Scorn are also anti missile ciws. It has a face too the Questionable is mainly just a giant bully. the green trail missiles have incendiary, the blue trails a HE
The repair bots aren't much of a problem, for Bonus Battles I'm a lot more lenient on such stuff unless people specifically request them to be removed.

*Spoilers below* Had the Reluctance DQd its opponent again I'd agree 100% that it should be the one to lose the battle since it seems to be its favorite strat when its behind. (seems to be a loss of turning rather than the AI) I should have added a behavior swap for when its low on mats to just go for the ram/belly flop
Hah, I lost the quickest! I was quite unlucky for my opponent to be a flamethrower, that's the one thing that ship can't really deal with. Ah well, I always get last or close to last in these, I know how bad I am at this game XD
For what it's worth, you did actually win that same battle last week, this was one of the results that changed. Don't go too harsh on yourself

I'd go for the shorter videos You can always split the recordings up into multiple smaller ones and just edit + upload in pieces too
I suppose I could split recordings, but since I'm doing the streams relatively late in the evening it'd probably make more sense to just record one session still and cut that shorter too, at least for the time being as I'm having some busy weeks. Maybe to make up for shorter vids/streams there will be a second one each week on Wednesday or something

I certainly wasn't expecting a dedicated video, but thank you! With the limitations and lack of missile designs I didn't put much effort into defense against them and it shows. EMP was also something I should have expected. Either way I've found this craft is quite luck-dependent. Like you mentioned, with the right timing even cram or DIF ships can hit (and kill) it, and with the right targeting luck, if can cripple things that would otherwise become drawn-out battles. Usually this is my least favorite kind of tactic since it hurts when it stabs you in the back, but you also can't deny the potential for quick wins. Anyway, GGs!
I was also trying to run a tournament when the turret update dropped, I think I had to fix more than half the entries
It is indeed rather unfortunate just how many designs were broken by it, worse yet is that it doesn’t seem to treat every vehicle the same way. After the stream, me and some others took a look at the DD-01 again and compared it with some of my own ships that have equal size turrets. Turns out, my 9x9 turrets still turn just fine, yet on the DD-01 they don’t. I’ve also removed blocks here and there to see if that helped, but no success yet… weird situation

It isn’t technically flying but rather skimming on some angled rudders, but it sitting at long range and evading left and right isn’t helping it pass either way
