2021 Haying is DONE!!!
In today's video we are officially wrapping haying for 2021. We start off by raking up the last 115 acres of hay with both rakes going. After that I got the large square baler ready and began square baling. Only need about 60 bales and finished in the mid afternoon. We then had a neighbor bring his little square baler to the field and started to make some little square bales. Once he had finished we stacked and stored the bales in a shed until they are sold. And thus concludes 2021 haying. I hope you guys enjoyed the video. Stay tuned for some harvest videos. Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE!!!
Equipment used: John Deere 4020 & H&S Bi-fold rake, John Deere 4850 & H&S 6116FF rake, John Deere 8430 & Hesston 4910 large square baler, Deere skid steer and bale accumulator.

Start of 2021 Nebraska Soybean Harvest
Переглядів 7183 роки тому
In today's video we are finally started to harvest some of our crops. Our dryland soybeans are ready to be harvested and hauled to town. Before we got to harvesting though we had to open up another field of hay for 4th cutting alfalfa. Once the dew and moisture was out of the soybeans we were finally able to start harvesting. We made a pretty big hole in the field before we had to quit at night...
4th Cutting Alfalfa (Almost Got STUCK)
Переглядів 5443 роки тому
In this video I am cutting our biggest field of alfalfa for the 4th time this year. Dad had opened up the field and I finished it out. While cutting the field, one of my tires on my windrower fell into a washed out pivot track stuck. Luckily I was able to wiggle my way out with no damages to the windrower. And got the field finished up as well. Hope you enjoy the video. Sorry for the late uploa...

Square Baling 3rd Cutting Alfalfa
Переглядів 7363 роки тому
In today's video we put up 125 acres of alfalfa using our Hesston 4910 Large Square Baler. We first had to rake the hay up and let it dry a little since it was still just a little too tough. Once it dried out we finally got to baling. Had a couple of problems here and there with the knotters but we got it done. Also we put tarps on over 250 of these bales. Stay tuned towards the end of the vide...
More 3rd Cutting (Possible Baler Problems)
Переглядів 3843 роки тому
Hey guys in today's video we continue 3rd cutting alfalfa harvest. I first raked up the hay with the new rake we got this year. After letting it sit and letting a little more moisture out of the hay we started baling. After a little while though I started to hear almost like a knock coming from the baler, but wasn't sure where. Luckily we have the second one to use to that way if there is a maj...

      Unfortunately I think so at the moment. I didn't realize how much time it would take to set up shots and then edit the videos all together. I appreciate all the support I have received though I honestly didn't think I would make it this far. I may upload a few here and there, almost like "updates" in a way but at the moment I have no videos to edit or upload.

    I definitely learned something from this video. As a kid, I used to hay in the summers. In the Colorado mountains, we were too high up for alfalfa, and everything was timothy grass. Only one cutting per season. I wonder how alfalfa compares with RFV and TDN.

    Nice work. Setting up a 4995 for windrowing canola, what anti rotation bracket did you get/make to lock the ATU onto the steering collumn? Couldnt quite make it out in your picture - any updates in settings. Im gonna start with yours

      When I had bought the ATU it had a bracket that came with it. It looks like a big square that you put on the column and tighten it down with some screws. Hadn't really updated the settings too much.

    The best time to bale alfalfa hay is at night when the hay is taking on dew. I always baled at night from about 11-12pm to sunrise and until the hay starts to lose leaves. The quality of the alfalfa hay was MUCH better with night time baling.

    • @noblevlogs7542
      @noblevlogs7542 3 роки тому

      I like baling at night time as well! Something about seeing tractor lights in a field I really enjoy. Recently though the humidity sets in so fast here in Nebraska that we can only really bale until 9 o'clock before the hay gets too wet. Just one of those things you got to role with the punches. Thanks for the comment!!!

    i enjoy your channel i enjoy the haymaking videos and all the farm related stuff you guys do i was wondering if it is more efficient to make large square bales instead of all the round bales just wondering it seems like when you have to stop everytime a round bale is ready to be dumped out just takes extra time where the big square bales you can just keep on trucking along, anyway keep up the good work you have an excellent channel

    • @noblevlogs7542
      @noblevlogs7542 3 роки тому

      It actually depends on how heavy the hay is. A couple videos ago, I believe the video of the new rake, we had all three balers going at once and my brother and I kinda had an unintentional race across the field. I actual got to the end of the field before he did. If the have is even lighter yet I would be going much faster. So like I said it just depends how heavy the hay is but it is nice just being able to keep going and not having to stop. Thank you for the comment!!!

  • @bobblack3870

    I watched all 3 parts. What a big job! How many bales? First time any bearings were replaced? Are the bearings greaseable or not? Replacement because they exhibit a problem or as preventative?

    • @noblevlogs7542
      @noblevlogs7542 3 роки тому

      This baler we just bought this year and I believe it had 15000 bales. Some of the bearings had been replaced on the baler that we could tell but quite a few were still from factory. You can tell if it was from factory if the bearing still has John Deere green paint on the seals. These bearings are not greaseable they are sealed bearings. We did this so then that way we shouldn't have to worry about a bearing going out in the field when there is hay that needs to be put up.

    • @bobblack3870
      @bobblack3870 3 роки тому

      @@noblevlogs7542 Now I understand and fully support your decision. My baler has 10k and just now is starting to reveal bearing problems. First ones are those "sealed" bearings that cannot be greased. They are truly a PITA, take loads of time and are rarely easy to get out.

    • @noblevlogs7542
      @noblevlogs7542 3 роки тому

      The windrower header typically takes about 2.5 gallons of hyrdaulic oil. The proper level of oil though can be achieved by looking at the sight glass drain plugs on either end of the header.
