Will there be A Plague Tale 3?
The Plague Tale series is one of thrill, emotion, and heartbreak. This has, understandably, left fans wanting more from this franchise. But the question is, what would a third game entail? In this video, we will explore the potential scenarios for exactly that

The world of the Plague Tale series is a dangerous yet fascinating one. From rats that eat anything in sight to ancient diseases that date back to the dawn of time, there's nothing about this world that isn't interesting. But today, I want to spotlight one creature of interest in particular: the Phoenix. This bird has been a constant presence throughout both games, and it's time we finally take...

The world of the Plague Tale series is a beautiful, dangerous, and deceptive one. Siblings Amicia and Hugo De Rune experienced physical and emotional trauma on a daily basis, and never truly found peace. And yet, despite all the mental anguish these children endured, they persevered in the face of adversity, only wavering when it was too late. However, recent revelations have led some to believ...

Interesting theory, that there was actually a cure and they were led away from it into despair and loosing all hope. That would be very sad indeed. I'm not sure if that's worse than having the hope that Amicia had in the face of a certain outcome. It's definitely sad for Hugo who succumbs to the outcome before her and accepts his fate after coming to terms with it. I still haven't come to terms with it myself. I wanted a 3rd game at least where Amicia and Hugo are still alive and playing in lush scenery and making new friends. Sadly that won't happen. Still waiting for the TV show too which seems to be on ice after being announced 2 years ago.
Kevin Choteau: No, basically we had an idea for a story and it made a franchise. When we started to think about what we are going to tell if we do a sequel, it was basically an idea between us. When we found out that there was a good story to tell, we said, “okay, we’re going to go for a second one”. If we haven’t found a good story, I think we would have said, “okay, let’s stop with A Plague Tale and do something else”, because it’s very narrative driven, and without a good story, it wasn’t a good idea to continue it. But there’s still a lot of things to explore in this universe, so we’ll see.

This fed is dead since 2020 lmao
This one is better My running theory right now is that the Macula is the curse resulting from the murder of a (possibly the only, as many legends have phoenixes as singular beings who don't reproduce) phoenix in ancient times. Partly because we get the symbolism of the phoenix everywhere -- it's the symbol of the Order, it's in the vision the Macula gives to Hugo, the statues are in the Nebula, etc. But also because as the games go on, the Macula is more and more associated with flames going out, the sun dying, and cold ash. There's the whole Child of Fire/Child of Embers thing that seems to be drawn at least partly from Order teachings, just twisted for the Count's benefits; there's the fact that rats are corpse-eaters; the one line we get from the Macula itself is 'it will kill the sun' and the structure Hugo is in at the end even resembles a black sun; there's the symbolism of the Phoenix's pond from Hugo's vision now being stagnant; there's the rats being frightened of fire; and there's the fact that the Nebula is a cloud of cold, emberless ash. All of it points to a narrative: There was a flame, like the sun, and it could revive itself from embers, but it can't because the fire is long dead, the ashes are already cold. (There's a parallel with Hugo and Amicia there: Amicia has hope, she sees proverbial embers from which the fire of a happy life can be rekindled -- but at the end, she has to accept that it's hopeless, and it always has been. She has to reject the Phoenix, and then she has to snuff out the flame.) All of that seems to point to an original sin of sorts: Once there was a Phoenix, and for whatever reason, someone killed it, not just temporarily but permanently. The backlash from that crime lives on in its murderer's bloodline, and just like a Phoenix, the Macula returns again and again. It's retribution for this crime given substance, and fittingly, its final threshold is blotting out the sun, smothering the world in ash, and sending rats to feast on everything: As if the death of a phoenix and rats eating its body is being inflicted on everything else. (There's another parallel with Hugo there. If he'd been left alone, and allowed to be a child with innocence, the Macula might have never grown in power. Other people's fear and greed is what took away that innocence, though, and the Macula responded -- and it keeps happening, because every time Hugo gets peace, someone transgresses, and denies him his innocence. It's the one consistent cycle in the games: Hugo and Amicia could be happy, but someone else's agenda or wrath always takes it away from them. It makes it seem thematically appropriate that the 'first corruption' of the Macula resulted from a similar crime against an innocent creature (and even a representation of innocence, since the Phoenix is so heavily associated with purity)).
AEW should have kept this theme.🤼♂️🤼♀️🤼

26:40 correction: the plague left Poland almost untouched
I wish maybe that in APT 3 that hugo is still alive and they find a cure at the end and at the same time show that the macula cannot be fully defeated but only delayed thus it will appear in the future and amicia and hugo will use their knowledge of the macula to help the future carrier and protector how to deal with it. Because i find it weird that in the first one the macula origin was a big part but in the second it was almost put aside, i can understand that the main focus was to help hugo because he was near the last threshold but i would like to have some in depth story about the macula and eventually if we can defeat it in the future.
PSL 3, we go after the macula on its own dimension with Hugo and Bassilus joining us in spirit to end the plague
Oh they will and it will be better than ever
Reminds me of a modernized Raw is War is theme from the 90s. Metal/Hardcore and Pro wrestling were always meant to be. I wish WWE would drop the top 40 pop sound for this but one can only wish.
I have a theory. Can you take a look at this please: The Order: The ending cutscene which everyone seems to think is indicating a modern game may just be an indication of a modern sequence as a part of the next game, rather an entire game. For example, it could be like Assassin's Creed where you mostly play in different times as your ancestors to uncover the truth: mysteries surrounding the Apple Of Eden. You can hear the sound of chalk at the ending scene, which may indicate that it's a lab and the child is being experimented on to discover something: cure for Macula or something else. He may have been experiencing or dreaming the story of Hugo and Amicia (who happened to be his ancestors) through a device. Why? It might be a part of experiment. Remember who does unethical experiments? It's the order. So, they maybe conducting an experiment on the child, like they did before with Hugo and Basilius. If the next game doesn't follow Hugo, maybe it'll follow Basilius because Asobo knows not many fans want a modern day game in the series. So the story of the next game could go like this: The order will try to track down the cure or whatever they are looking for from the child's dream/vision of each of his ancestors with Macula, kinda like Abstargo in Assassin's Creed. However, the order may have a different intention, rather than fixing Maculla. Maybe they always knew what makes it worse for the carrier, but they still triggered it. Maybe they wanna use the children for their own purpose, like ruling the world using the children. If I can remember it correctly, Amicia couldn't find any entry of cure in the data of the experiments the order conducted on basilius. So, maybe the Order were never actually even looking for it, and was after something else the entire time, and now using the modern day child to track it down. A Theme Unnoticed: There's an important theme in Requiem that I think is often ignored- time. Hugo's dream led them to the island. However, the dream only shown things from the past, like the water. If we get to play at basilius's time, we maybe able to know the mystery of the water as well as the story of basilius and Aelia. So, that sets the stage for a game or a playable sequence in that era as well, either that be the next game or a later entry. Furthermore, there's a lot of question left to answer, so many mysteries: a child was predicted to come to the count's land, and in one way or another Hugo does come. Plus, Hugo also dreamt of the bird (Phoenix). What if they had been influenced by the past and future, not only by the Macula, for good or bad, to come there, maybe the dream Hugo had was actually basilius trying to communicate to help Hugo find the Phoenix and Maculla at the same time been manipulating it. What are Macula and Nebula really? If all of these generations of Macula carriers meet with each other or get to know the story of each other, then many mysteries would be solved, so even if that doesn't mean a game in another era, it supports I think it still supports my theory of someone interecting with or meet an ancestor: it could be either Amicia and Hugo with Aelia and basilius, or their modern day descendent having visions of Hugo and Basilius or both (decided as chapter or sequence), and trying to piece together their story to find clues about the cure or something. Recarnation and Remembrance: Another thing is how similar the stories of basilius and Hugo seem. They are both taken way from their protectors. The order experimented on them, and both were tortured and triggered by people untill they lost it. Moreover, their likings also seemed similar. Now remember the Phoenix? If that's a symbol of being reborn, what if both basilius and the child at the end of Requiem and their protectors are recarnation of Hugo and Amicia, but with no memories of their past lives, and the order may know that, and are taking advantage of that to get closer to their goal. So, again the protagonists will need a good understanding of the past and future. I mean, Requiem means an act of remembrance. What about recollecting memories from a previous life? I think that suits it. How A Sequel Can Go: After uncovering what happened with either Amicia and Hugo or Aelia and basilius or both (which will be like 90% of the game), we maybe able to play a final act as the modern day protagonists fighting or racing against the order scientists. Both parties are now equipped with more knowledge about the past due to the experiment. Opportunity To Change: The gameplay of the series has been kinda clunky, and wasn't flashed out, parts of it where you get to do something else other than just being stealthy around bad AI are actually good, like the crossbow section. So combining different era would let them add more gameplay variety. On the other hand, seting the game in a different time will allow them to fully adopt a new style. Therefore, we may get a better, maybe a different type of gameplay. The Door Is Not Closed Yet: Lastly, it just feels there's so much opportunity for a sequel that combines different era like that. The section after Amicia got into Nebula is just very unclear, and felt so quick. I know all natural laws stop there, but you can't still confirm what happened and what didn't. All of the plotholes and mysteries seem to be just enough (not noticeable enough to make the story bad/incomplete, but enough to build a sequel upon) to help take the series any direction. Thought About The Ending OF Requiem: Again, it feels off to end Amicia and Hugo's story like that in the current game. I think, it will be better if Hugo survives, and it still wouldn't make the requiem ending bad cause that'll flash out the Maculla further, like showing how manipulating it can be. Also Hugo's survival would make up for a good emotional sequence. Also in this way, the plague can continue (like the black plague irl) up untill Amicia and Hugo finally stop it for their century. However, I think if they make a sequel, interaction between different carriers and eras is necessary at this point. Disclaimer: This is just my theory. None of what I've said here is official, so far as I know. So, none of them may come true. While playing A Plague Tale Requiem, I suspected a similarity between A plague Tale and Assassin's Creed like the Order, and Abstargo and noticed the time theme, and made an initial theory. However, after watching your video on the Phoenix and Illustration theory, and the video on a potential sequel, I redefined my theory, and here's what I finally came up with, as of now.
Very interesting read 👍. I will say that many of us tho, are against any connection, design-wise, with Assassin's Creed. We feel A Plague Tale games, especially the first one, have this magical feeling precisely because they are a tight, limited franchise that already has its iconic characters which some of us consider to be practically irreplaceable. Jumping in eras, characters, "Assassin's Creed-ing" it would not be welcome, and likely, neither would it be practical for a studio like Asobo to pull off, they're not Ubisoft or any of those giants that command resources which allow them flops from time to time. I personally hope and cheer for the Illusion Theory or any of its variants to happen, IF a third game indeed gets released at some future point. Reasons for it are quite simple: by having Hugo turn out to BE alive, any need for new characters (i.e. protagonists) would be nullified, the story would still revolve around whom it needs to, it being Amicia and Hugo and their fight against this Eldritch horror entity that Macula clearly is. In fact, if he is alive, it could additionally expand on just how insidious Macula is and how it operates. Also, the argument rests on the opinion that, since A Plague Tale probably works best as a smaller and tighter franchise, a third game *should* be the last in the series: a perfect trilogy method, basically. And with the assumption that developers feel similarly, a third game would be waaay too late for introducing other Carriers, Protectors and whatnot; basically, anyone whose mere introduction into the story would be meant to challenge Amicia or Hugo. Many people already familiar with the story would likely find these new characters hard to care for, at best, they would be perceived as mere stand-ins or replacements for the iconic duo. All things considered, I think Illusion Theory solves most of these concerns at a least price: basically, the only price that would likely need to be paid or rather, the only arguments I've heard against it is how it would "spoil the ending and themes/messages of Requiem". I feel that, for one 1. Even if probable, it isn't certain and 2. Even if it would have such effect, personally, I consider it a rather small price to pay, considering all the benefits, at least in my opinion. And anyway, on the ashes of old, easily can rise new themes and interpretations anyway.
@@YTuseraL2694 @YTuseraL2694 You have good points there and I agee with almost all of them. However, I think the final entry can still look into the stories of three. It may not be good to play with Basilius and Aelia or any other carrier and protector in the past, and I suppose it's not necessary. We can still play as Amicia and Hugo for 90% of the game to uncover the story of Aelia and Basilius (like the last few chapters of Requiem), which would be necessary to heal Hugo or defeat Macula. In this way, we don't need Busilius and Aelia to be flashed out, but we still learn their story through Amicia and Hugo's investigation. However, for like the remaining 10% of the gameplay, we can still jump into the shoes of the modern day protagonist. Sure, the modern day protagonists wouldn't be much flashed out in that short screen time, but they can still tie up the story well. We already had a glimpse of both the past and future in Requiem. So, I feel like it's kinda necessary to tie them up. In this way, the order and the Macula can also be flashed out as the modem day characters would use knowledge of both ancestors. Since Aelia and Busilius aren't much flashed out themselves, they wouldn't be considered replacements for Amicia and Hugo. So, again I agree that it should end as a trilogy, but it might be necessary to play as the modern day protagonists to sum everything up.
They just released the first game to epic for free. We are 100% getting a third game. And its taking place in modern day.

@@haydenTenno- oh, so that's why you think that. See, at the moment, that scene doesn't (necessarily) mean a teaser for A Plague Tale in modern day. Notwithstanding the fact that many fans aren't at all fond of the idea anyway, even the game director openly stated in an interview that the scene is meant as a mere, symbolic "Macula never ends" type of middle finger, not an announcement that a third game would be in modern day, which would be un-subtle as hell too.
If you’ve seen a plague tales instagram their December 4th post says “hold on someone’s on the other line ” while ringing and then shows Hugo saying “hello” then the video ends.
could u send me the link for that?
They are hiring for "A Plague Team" right now on Asobo website. Fingers crossed Amecia will return at least. Or maybe I'm just too hopeful like Amecia was which led to her being in pain constantly for not letting go like she needed to at the end.
My God, if there's going to be a sequel where Lucas and Sophia die, and in the end Amicia commits suicide, I'd rather not have a sequel.
I mean, considering how this franchise on many occasions displays GMMR syndrome and readily kills off characters left and right, I wouldn't be too surprised.
Well I just wanted her to have a happy ending, not necessarily a Disney happy ending, more of an ending where she finds peace. I sincerely hope that in a third game she finds redemption, perhaps finding a cure, for the macula along with Lucas, even if she dies at the end of this mission, which yes will be sad but at least she could die in peace, knowing that the two of them together found the cure for macula.
The end shows a new carrier
The ending left us devastated 😭
This is interesting but I don’t believe it at all. Killing a character just off screen is frequently used as sign of respect like when Stannis or Olenna aren’t seen bloody or sagging. The Macula doesn’t have to be cautious if it’s already won. Why “retreat” when it could just send rats to devour Amicia. Also, the “it was all a dream” ending trope is extremely unpopular cliche. Maybe they’d use it but it would cheapen the game considerably.
I must disagree with this take. Firstly, regarding your take on off-screen killings, no one reasonable suggests that the only alternative to what we've got is us literally getting to see the instance of him getting hit by a stone/bolt and dying. One small, short cut-scene of Amicia and Lucas grieving with his lifeless body in her arms in the aftermath would've been more than enough. Such a scene wouldn't even need to outright show him or his wounds up-close. Countless ways to go about it, really. If written well enough, Hugo's return or rather, revelation could add new, previously unpredicted value to the saga as a whole. It doesn't necessarily cheapen, let alone destroy what came before it: it recontextualizes it and additionally opens up the Macula as a vicious, insidious antagonistic force/entity even more, and in a way that would kind of feel natural to it.
@@YTuseraL2694 But in what way would it be recontextualized that would be satisfying? The world actually isn’t saved so the third story just has a god Hugo in the nebulous? It’s very rare that a story has a person magically return that keeps the strength. Hugo isn’t and shouldn’t be Gandalf. Let him have peace, finally. What I meant by cheapen is both stories are completely focused on saving Hugo from the first minutes on. Even Amicia is secondary. We do this despite literally destroying cities from his very presence. “I think you know” is a pretty powerful statement to the player! I had thought it’d be best to kill Hugo actually 2/3 into the second game. After the Phoenix lie, it seemed clear to me. If he’s the source, end him to protect all the world. If he’s not actually dead all Amicia sacrificed is no longer a sacrifice. I’d hate that.
I wish they used the lyric version on the Fite advert breaks.
Hugo is alive
I hope hugo is alive and we will got a third game with amicia and hugo
I just had a revelation: not of anything new, but I finally figured out how exactly to express/describe the problem that this dilemma of "👍Illusion Theory in a third game - 👎 Illusion Theory in a third game" has been presenting itself throughout the discourse in the community. It's that right now, A Plague Tale, in this situation, suffers from a very particular variant of "ludonarrative dissonance" (I'll call it LND for convenience purposes). Now, we know that LND that I just mentioned is usually reserved for the apparent discrepancies between gameplay and storytelling in games. Well, this "particular variant" present in A Plague Tale isn't concerning gameplay all that much. Whereas classic LND is story vs gameplay, this other one would be more like "themes vs story" type of discrepancy. I came to this conclusion by observing the trend and opinions of people for and against the theory-based plot. Those against tend to mostly base their view on two things, onne of which takes up at least 80 or 90% of their argument. To them, "respecting/upholding the themes" is most important, and since to them the themes of Requiem are those of "tragedy" or "letting go", I-Theory would inevitably undermine that. The second, smaller point by them would be one of "anti-climax" if Hugo returns, but they mostly mention it in passing, with the ThEmEs having to be preserved at any cost. However, this discrepancy becomes apparent right when many realise that really, any other alternative for a third game just doesn't cut it as well as Hugo in a third game would, "anti-climax" or themes be damned. Modern day game? No. Aelia-Basilius? Nope, maybe a DLC. Multiple Carriers? Nope. Amicia-solo? No thanks. None of those plots feel right, even if I'm sure some will disagree. The situation is really one where the writers would likely be forced to choose: either a good plot that preserves the essence of A Plague Tale, OR, a plot that upholds the "tragedy, dark realism" of Requiem. Both simultaneously just can't be accomplished, I think. Themes, or quality plot. Choose, devs. I guess that's the price of enforcing the darker, tragic themes in Requiem in spite of Innocence's more relaxed ones. As some have said back then, it appears they've written themselves into a corner with this.
I absolutely agree that none of the ideas would make a good sequel on their own. But I think you can still create a game that has both a good plot and preserves the theme. My idea would be some kind of compromise with a 2-strand story. For example, as mentioned at the end of Requiem, we follow Amicia as she uncovers clues, and at the same time follow the new carrier and protector in a modern timeline, like a scavenger hunt. Of course, this would be a lot of work for the writers and would require great care to get right. But I think it would be absolutely possible.
If you hear this on Wednesday nights and don’t get fired up, you need therapy
Brotha it’s 2024 not 2019
Back in 2019, maybe. Now AEW is just...blegh.
I hope there will be another part but after the end of requiem I'm afraid that APT3 will be the part where Amicia dies 😥
That's not certain at all but I get it, the devs have pretty much shown the extent of their capability in regards to torturing/killing characters in these games. Lion, Robert, Laurentius, the entire household, Rodric, Arthur, Arnaud, Beatrice, Hugo(perhaps not). They really can take a break from GRRM-ing these, it's more than enough already.
Amicia is the new Macula vessel ❤
That is... Kinda unrealistic given what we know, plus I don't honestly see the worth of going that route. Basically the one and only "advantage" such a direction would have over the classic Illusion Theory idea is it appearing less anti-climactic, at least at first glance. But anyhow, considering the massive holes in the lore, I guess it's somewhat possible for writers to pull it off and justify it sensibly enough, especially since Amicia is Hugo's closest blood relative, apart from being a Protector as well.
0:21. No words needed. Just perfection and gets you jacked!
Me after finishing Requiem: "We are SOOOO done" me after watching this video: "We are SOOOO back"
There have been MANY Bubonic Plague outbreaks throughout history. So, it's possible more games can be made. The last major outbreak was in 1924. But there were several back to back in the 1800s. Also to my knowledge there hasn't been a large Bubonic Plague outbreak in modern times.
This hypothesis is too far-fetched imo. First, stating “it was just a dream” and that Hugo is alive just devalues the story moral and the plot itself. Throughout the whole game we’ve repeatedly been seeing things going tragic way. Having Hugo alive, what does it bring us apart from breaking the continuity of the story’s theme? The argument about clothes and the fact that we have a black screen is a bit silly - it’s clearly an artistic choice. Hugo’s model in the photo mode is related to a game development process rather than secret hints. Additionally, if Lucas pulls the trigger, Amicia has a different line about him 1 year later. Should she still be affected by an illusion by that time? I doubt it. The part that’s taking place in her head starts with her fall and ends when they started approaching Hugo. That’s very clear to me. You can even turn the camera up and back to see the edge of a bridge way above.
The fact that the plague went on in real life doesn’t relate much to the game - it’s a tale after all and it doesn’t have to correspond to the history at all. Phoenix can be interpreted in a number of ways. But it’s clearly stated that it’s the symbol of the order as well- it’s not related to Hugo exclusively. It also can symbolize the macula or Basilius.
And finally, we have a really complete ending of the story. Hugo reached the 3rd threshold - there’s no way back. He didn’t want to continue destroying more surroundings and decided to sacrifice himself, helping Amicia find a way to him. Hugo was aware of the possibility of that outcome for a large part of the game and he accepted it in the finale. His body got dissolved in light with other rats/macula attributes, I suppose. Amicia remembers his sacrifice and commemorates him at the memorial. That’s a complete, solid ending. Compared to this, the illusion hypothesis is nowhere near on the level. There’s no cure after the 3rd threshold. Having Hugo alive and keeping him suffer and destroy more places doesn’t seem to work for the game.
Nothing about this hypothesis/theory is too far-fetched, and you hardly debunked any of the arguments. Most of the rhetoric against it, both your and by some other people, doesn't really operate on the field of "can it be true?" and empirically analysing observations made of in-game things and story-beats, but on the "should it be true?" which is undeniably less analytical and more concerned with subjective, poetic side of the matter. It's about sugary musing in regards to the "meaning" and all that, nothing else. You discuss themes or messages, and having them serve as final deciders of the future is really tempting thing to do at first but the whole point is to make a good buck, and attempting another sequel is just that (from the point of view of the developers). Even if you personally feel the ending is "solid" or whatever, having a third game that directly attempts to draw the endearment of viewers to some new, never-before-seen characters that are inserted to directly replace/relegate original characters (Hugo and/or Amicia) that are inevitably symbols of this franchise would be, in my humble opinion, infinitely worse than them going with something that goes along the lines of what this video proposes and explains. Modern day game ? No way. A third game, if it ever comes out, should be the last for a tight trilogy and concern the one and only original cast and their struggle against the Macula, and that needs Hugo in most proposed cases and scenarios. And this argument that having Hugo suffer more would be wrong is just disingenuous from a certain point of view. Requiem and to a lesser extent Innocence were suffering fest through and through, with sprinkles of moments of respite. Amplifying the tension and Macula's insidiousness and power at the expense of main characters' well-being must be executed well, but harbors a lot of potential regardless. In fact, many agree that Requiem alone breaks off of Innocence and its themes; for many already these two games have a problem of continuity, and that's a legitimate view to have in all honesty. If Requiem made new atmosphere and even "disrespected" in a way Innocence's more cautious approach to themes, then a third game should have absolutely no obligation to respect or adhere to the letter to what Requiem established, no matter the plot.
@@YTuseraL2694it’s a well written comment, however, you also haven’t countered some of my points. Do you agree that the arguments about Hugo’s clothes and black screen are artistic choices? What about the photo mode? To me it’s not even a legit argument since it’s a technical issue related to game development process. What about Anoxia’s quote about Lucas in the end if it was him to pull the trigger? How’s Amicia being blind a whole year after the event took place? That’s not logical. We were shown a sun rising up after Hugo got shot - it’s a fact. If the sun rose - this means the macula was no more at that time and for the year ahead. Sorry for my comment being a bit chaotic. I don’t speak English much.
@@zest01Firstly, I didn't see the message nor notification, so sorry for not answering. Secondly, don't be angry, but by judging your initial comment(s), mostly by their lengths, I came to assume you're one of those closed-off, arrogant assholes who have decided for themselves whether to support or oppose this theory even before entering these discussions just so you could spite it, with zero traces of humility. Thankfully, judging by your response to me, it appears I'm very much wrong about yourself, so kudos to you 👍. Now regarding the comment, when you say that I didn't counter some of your points, that's because I didn't intend to even attempt that; my reply operated on the aforementioned assumption that you came to defame the contents of this video merely because it would "ruin the message of the game" or some other pretentious bullcrap. I concentrated on the thematic and writing problems and justifying that the Illusion Theory, or really any other scenario in which Hugo turns out not to be dead or unsalvageable, would not NECESSARILY result in badly written second game, even if it would likely feel somewhat anti-climactic to many people, that's all. It would depend on the context and writing quality above all else. As for you asking me about Hugo's clothes and black screen - I neither agree nor disagree. I am more than perfectly aware that these are/can be artistic choices that have zero influence on the plot (still, it'd be flawed). Our point is that these CAN be legitimate arguments in support of the theory, even if they aren't intended as such. No one concerned with this theory actively promotes its "evidence" as absolute truths that are SURE to point towards the writers secretly wanting to implement such scenario. Only that it realistically can be done. Same goes for pretty much all other points you mention. Sun rises at the end: sure, but given Macula's eldritch/mysterious nature in Requiem and how it changes from Innocence, it's open question what it can do: maybe even preserve Hugo, or manipulate anyone inside the Nebula. Again, point is that IT IS POSSIBLE, not that it's truth we are seeking to uncover/predict. Who's Anoxia? Of sorry, I didn't realize that it was a typo for Amicia. Whatever she thinks of Lucas, it's clear that likely one of the scenarios can be canonical, while other is just a stand-in in case player doesn't finish the game. So it can be considered overall immaterial, even if it maybe is not. And for photomode, once again, it's a technicality that neatly happens to present us with a genuinely interesting coincidence, that, again, happens to potentially support some of this theory's proposals. No one is obligated to take it dead seriously, but it's undeniable just how neatly it weaves. No need to apologize for English, I'm also not a native speaker, so I can relate.
There is one thing that might be relevant: Amicia and Hugo were lured to La Cuna by macula, but why? Why would macula bother to lure them there just to find out about previous siblings? Maybe it wanted to show them that both the carrier and the protector are important and that the issue was that the protector was killed. But they read it wrong and so did we, so macula then arranged Hugo's death to make Amicia stop trying to protect him as it didn't really work (which is exactly what Hugo is explaining her in macula). What if the carrier stops to be a carrier only when the protector stops to be a protector?
Macula is in the blood of its Carrier, it doesn't simply leave or vanish if a Protector stops behaving as one, that's kinda ridiculous notion. I like the rest of the comment though.
After watching this, I went playing the game again and I found something, in the nothing left chapter when you are on the way to save Arnud, you can hear some soldiers saying the count ordered to bring Hugo and his Defiler. I think Defy refers to Amicia and if there's a third game it must be about Amicia. Just my opinion.
Nah, I don't think there's anything there. I think you're misunderstanding the word they used To defile something means "to desecrate or profane (something sacred)" The islanders saw Hugo as the Child of Embers, and since Amicia was trying to take him away from them, she was "defiling" their religion That's why they called her "defiler"
Every carrier could have certain memories and visions of past carriers and if there is a Hugo in the future it could be because a future carrier lost temporary control of themselves and Hugo's personality surfaced to the front. I'd like them to take a route with another carrier and another protector and we'd just learn what Lucas and Amicia left behind as relics of some sort as texts and history. If they start in Modern day, it'll most likely be like an Assassin's Creed thing when they have a future person learning of past events and we playing out what the future person is learning.
Esos son los crazy town ?????
If you mean Hugo alive then yes
I don't konw
Makes a ton of sences
Inteesting thought on there being more than one carrier at a time. The alchemists book you can get as a collectible in Innocence states that the plague ravaged in Asia BEFORE making its way to Europe, just as it did in real history. It just shows as you said, Asobo has told us almost nothing of the macula so they can really take it in aby direction they want, including multiple other carriers simultaneously.
