We pretty much sat outside the ride until they were ready for a test run. It was a crap shoot - they told us it was a possibility that they would do a test run, but not guaranteed. We decided to sit and wait for about 30 minutes and sure enough, they did a test run and we happened to be right there.

did they pick u randomly to ride it?

Yeah - there were running test runs the weekend we were there...

Actually, quite the opposite; many 911 drivers come up to us all the time after the sessions and ask what we have done to our cars. They are really impressed with the handling of the MINI and admit that they just could not keep up through the road course portion of the track. Granted, there are some 911 drivers that really know how to wheel it and can smoke us (as they really should with all that extra hp).Just proves that because a car has a lot of hp,doesn't mean the driver knows how to use it

Or maybe the 911 turbo doesn't want a mini cooper behind him. I understand how it works- I wave people by me as soon as I see them- I dont know what kind of idiots are driving behind me.

Let me explain then :)... These are HPDE events, not races. No passing is allowed without a point by. The only way you can pass legally, without getting black flagged is to get up on the car's tail and wait for the driver to concede you are faster and point you by.

I'm not sure how gettin waved by is beating up on cars.

Darn camera died! :( We were not expecting to ride at all and camera was already used up from the weekend. When they let us in - I started shooting video until I could no longer (bummer I know).

Nice! I hope they let us run on the track when we come down for MTTS in Miami this June.

it is a free public road. the speed limit i believe is 30mph.

does it cost anything to actually go there and is there a speed limit?

the mini has a 5 star crash rating and would be a lot less exspensive to take care of. I have an 04 mini and Love to destroy porsches and vipers on track!

Thanks... 137mph across the start/finish line. Shaved Toyo RA1s were run that weekend and they did GREAT! Can't wait to go back!!

ah, I have a 2006 Type S, no work done on it. I'd like to see if the chip will do any difference, i don't want to do much into it since it's in warranty still.. I live in Miami fl

PBOC Florida hosts weekends there a few times a year (as well as Sebring). We will be at Sebring on Oct 27-28, 2007. You should come out! There is a combination of stock MINIs and modded ones. This one in particular has a pulley, intake, exhaust and some suspension work.

They call it a Mini - but I see these guys on the track and there ain't nothin' Mini about 'em. Even following in a higher powered car, a good driver in a Mini can be a challenge in the back-fields. That is where the Mini can really hang..and where most of the sports car races are won. Great driving here! This guy has this car plugged in like an appliance!
