I reinstalled the unit, and while the leak was much more gradual than before, it still seeped out a bit. I plan on taking it out again and using a sealer, most likely Loctite 518. I will document that soon.

1979 Chrysler New Yorker driving video
I drove an old 1979 Chevy impala, and it was so malaise and bland, that hardly anyone wanted to drive it, even when the owner expected my church volunteer team to drive and park this big ole car. 😂😅
These 20 yr old GM cars will still be running on the road even after another 10 years plus on the road. Don’t worry about the transmission or anything else for that manner.
I have a 60 olds, it doesn’t even run yet and I like it more than if I had a working supercar
I drive my dream car a 1988 lincoln town car is it fast no does it handle well no does the door panels fall off yessssssss do things break yessss its 36 years old but I got it for $700 and it had 80k miles now it just hit 98k miles its reliable and comfortable and has been better than honestly any modern car past 2005
Is wheel alignment expensive in the US? (calibrate it so the car goes straight with steering wheel is at 12 hours). I see that on the video you hold the wheel towards left to make it go straight
I genuinely think these Auroras are beautiful cars. Shame that I don't live in the US, I see so many interesting cars in Facebook marketplace in US
A DISTINCTIVE DESIGN WHEN CARS ALL LOOKED WAAAAAY TOO SIMILAR -- BUT I WANTED THE BUICK RIVIERA, SOO SIMILAR TO THIS AURORA BUT A MOST DISTINCTIVE REAREND, ALL LEATHER, AND A STOCK SUPERCHARGED 3.8 V-6.
400 usd for that car? omfg that´s a gift
Around my area $400 is scrap price. Hard to find anything that even moves under its own power for that price.
Paid $1,400 for my Pontiac Vibe. It's the best car I've ever owned, and I bought a brand new Challenger when I was in my 20s.
I have a very nice 1995 Aurora with the 4.0 Northstar. I’ve had it over 12 years and it runs great! It has good, smooth power, silky smooth transmission, super quiet, great highway economy, and hasn’t given me a bit of trouble. If you have a Northstar, take the effort to take good care of it and you’ll have years of good service. This “kiddo” doesn’t know what he’s yammering about!
Heck i still have my $300 chevy celebrity i bought in 2014. Still going. Hit 4 deer. Jumped a curb twice. Its been on fire twice. Simple carbureted 2.8 3 speed automatic. .. i beat the daylights out of that car... It just dont die. . im just suprised i found enough donor cars to get straight rust free parts.. around here there is like no more chevy celebrity on the road no more.
ts hit home
That is actually real wood on the dash
I was about to say 1st Gen Auroras used real wood, so I assume these did too. Cadillac + Aurora used the real stuff.
I used to own of these years ago when they were newer. A lot of issues. Electrical mainly ...those bubbles on the hood you show were typical of 3-4 year old examples due to the GM's poor paint process. However at a beater I bet its ok
Seems like a decent car to me despite being hard to work on. Lots of modern options for 2001.
Save the Oldsmobile legacy
0:39 but it is a piece of history that saw its best days long before it went bankrupt. And it is sadly almost forgotten by most the younger car community.
Dude, that's a 2nd gen Oldsmobile Aurora. Those are hard to find. One of the last gasp until it went out of business. But it's the oldest car company in the US. I rather you sell it online for someone whose a big fan of Oldsmobile
No I DON’T push old cars because they will die on you.
Much better than the ugly af cuv import garbage of today. I would buy this in a heartbeat. Older GMs and Mopars for life
Somehow my cars fits perfect in cheap as hell nowdays, Cheap on the run klind of depending if you care about it. Iv been Driving my W202 C200 manual for 12 years now daily and long trips towing, long days on dirt roads at slow speed, traffic where all you do is play with the cluth and i got it used doing the same shit because i bought it from my mom. She drove it through a desert . Its probably seen more off road milage than most cars have in total. Yeah i dinged her up there and there a bit i fix that, But maintence has been a breeze. Stick with the service book and they will last.
Old mercedes will keep on going forever if looked after. I remember seeing a greek taxi driver with a W123 that had 2 million kilometers. It's a shame that newer mercedes are exactly the opposite.
I didn't know they made an aura v-8 f that is awesome
Miss those days everything was a 1$ at McDonald's and churches chicken
I rented one of these in 2001. My driving improved immensely. Not sure if it was the car, or if it was the Skip Barbara Racing School at Laguna Seca.
@@frankhoward7645 wow i would not have expected these to be rental cars what agency was it?
@@alitheretrokid Can't remember the rental company but I do remember renting it at the San Francisco airport. It was probably a V6.
You sure learn about brakes and braking in these old beaters
It's cool to see a younger person into these old big American cars. When I was 18 and a senior in H.S. (graduated 1984) I bought a 1966 Olds Toronado and a year later a 1970 Mark lll. I still own BOTH of those cars and am now 58. Talk about long term ownership!! LOLOLOL Side note, when I was in JHS (1980) one of my friends moms had a 77 New Yorker Brougham which I loved and then he said shes getting a new car. Her New car was a 1980 New Yorker like yours but it was that creme color inside and out which was very popular then. I liked the bigger one better with the tufted pillow type seats and the unmistakable water fall grille
I see your check engine light is on. Many newer cars go into limp mode or whatever you call it when the CEL is on causing lower RPM shifts and many other things. Find out WHY the check eng light is on and if you can fix that and clear it i'll bet it wakes up a bit
400 dollars would only buy me a fucking key fob in illinois. Fuck Illinois
Pretty damn good cruising for just $400. I own a cherry 2003 with only 83K miles, worth well over $5000. Deeper studs in the Oldsmobile Northstar, but still with fine threads (GM rectified with coarse threads in 2005). Check PCV elbow hose under the front of the intake for perforations (causing the uneven idle) and clean butterfly.
Just don't buy a old arura or tiburon Hyun
My 95 Aurora will spin the wheels all day with TC off lol 189k on her.
The idle surge is probably due to a bad idle air control valve.
@@francoisgirard2306 ended up being a maf sensor
Only in 'murica: fully equiped car with v8 for 400$, like in europe you need 5000$ but yeah other aspects is same, it doesn't mater if it's Aurora, Polo, Fusion, Octavia or any other shïtbox
@@-leprincemkii-8118 id love to drive a vw polo one day, i know they are pieces of shit to you guys in Europe but to me they're cool because ive never seen one
Nice projector headlights. Nice job man, I agree with your principles and hope you keep uploading!
Thanks, Honda civic video coming soon
Isn't that a short star
No, that was the 3.5 V6 these and the Intrigues came with
@@dylantran8492 ook
It's the 4.0 Aurora V8, which is a simplified Northstar, but not the 3.5 Shortstar V6. The V6 was the base engine for the 2nd Gen though.
Good looking car.
The old RCR vibe of this video made me subscribe immediately
It's like RCR but without the smugness
the interior is in actually amazing contion
If $400 could get your an Oldsmobile Aurora, I wish It could get me a nice Mazda 929 near me.
Do a tune up. Change spark plugs and wires, the car should be good. The Aurora was built as a sporty luxury car to break out of the old man cars of the 88 and 98. I was able to peel out with my Oldsmobile 98 front wheel drive. I'm sure that once you get it tuned up you will find that it will behave better.
this was a good video😂
You, sir, have an eargasmic Oldsmobile.. Love how it sounds though!!!
I’d daily that piece of crap if I have too. Not so bad
A shitty car will make you pay attention. To the gauges, engine sounds, the road, surroundings etc. You will soon be able to anticipate the exact moment that you're fucked and how much time you have to plan B it,until you're on the side of the road with fluid everywhere.Fear is a hugely underrated motivation. Lol.
perfectly described it
PISS WATER AAHAHAHAHAAH god I am dying
I only owned 500 dollar cars till i was probably 25 theyre great
If that motor made it to 205k then it's probably a good motor. The early Northstars were a problem but the newer ones were ok.
The later ones did have less issues, its just that such a large and hard to work on engine. Gm already had plenty of perfectly good v8s at the time, and the LS only came out 3 years after the northstar.
@@alitheretrokid Yeah an LS engine is a gem to work on and they can take a lot of power.
I might even go as far as saying that the LS is one of the best engines of all time.
The 2000-ish revision (the ones with the cassette coils instead of coil packs) reduced the failure rate by like 90%, but still did have issues. The 2006 final revision including the RWD versions reduced it to pretty much zero.
I had an Oldsmobile Alero same engine as the Aurora, paid $400 lasted me 300,000 miles past when I bought it when it had 185,000 best $400 I ever spent.
My mom had a 2002 Alero, that car was awesome.
Not at all the same engine.
if you got the 6 cylinder alero it was a 3.4 liter v6. i had a 2004 pontiac grand am (The pontiac version of the alero) that had the 3.4 v6 . That 3.4 was a great engine... lots of power! i had 229, 661 kilometers on mine and that engine still ran excellent at that point too. Had to send the car to the scrapyard at that point though.
This might work in American economy but most other places 400 bucks is getting you a bumper cover and some nuts and bolts
I live in slovakia, and here its pretty easy to get a rusty crusty VAG car (skoda octavia, volkswagen golf) for that price
