Misty isn't a bad dancer. I personally don't like her style but that woman can dance, no doubt about that.

Everybody may have their difficult days. It doesn't mean they're lazy. One could probably select better performances from Misty for this video.

What's really terrible is for the young black girls that want to be ballerinas. I think she's a bad example because she was promoted principal solely because of a political ploy in ABT she did not last because of poor ticket sales. Not anywhere near a prima ballerina level!

Isn’t it funny how she is a talking point about not being good enough to be a principal dancer and there are better dancers than her. I’m sure this has never happened in any other company at any time in our history. If it did, I’m sure there would be just as many people criticising those dancers too.

The racism in this comment section is heartbreaking. Yes, we get it, every white dancer is perfect in every rehearsal and performance. Misty makes you all cry yourself to sleep a night. Got it.

Before she was promoted, I vividly remember her pushing for it in the press, actively using the race card as if to pressure them or say that was why she was being held back. The day she was promoted, someone filmed it at the end of class. Stella Abrera got HUGE applause from company members; Misty got golf claps. They knew what was up. Then she made a big deal in the press as if she were the "first" black dancer of high rank, ignoring several others who'd come before her. She got called out and has since adjusted her spiel. I liked her in contemporary numbers, and she has worked hard, but when you can't do the damn steps of the classics, you don't deserve the title. She hasn't danced with ABT since about 2019, maybe 'cause of Covid or her baby, but she seems more interested in her "brand." She's still listed on their website, but they need to retire her and let another dancer move up.

Now that I have seen Misty Copeland as a principal dancer, she is not on the music.

Misty is not a lazy person, she did not perform the variation lazily, in fact this time it was performed similarly to the other dancers. It's an issue with the choreography itself and the costume, not the dancer. Misty did what she could with what was given. Bluebird is supposed to be light and expressive, but with such a overbearing costume and slow choreography, there is no way she could've done any better.

I like how Misty put her own spin on the Black Swan and Coda. But calling her lazy is just about the rudest thing possible! Every ballerina works their butt off to give the best possible performance. While there is some things Misty could improve upon, that doesn't mean she's a bad dancer nor is she not a hard worker. Every ballerina, even the best of them, have something to improve upon regardless of how long they've been dancing for. The very first performance I ever saw Misty dance in was Romeo and Juliet. Misty did an absolutely amazing job as Juliet in that production! Some of the things she can do are things I can only dream of!

Misty may have worked hard to get to where she is, but she is far from the standards of the other principals. You would never see a broken line in another principal dancer, yet for Misty, if captured at a wrong angle, her lines are sloppy. It is an expectation that the principal dancers are capable of performing their roles and you hardly ever see such sloppy work. Although that performance where she switched to pose turns instead was justified as a faulty pointe shoe, so...

You gotta be one miserable and lazy person to dedicate the majority of your youtube channel to hating on one ballerina.

The thing also is that if Misty didnt tell everybody every day that she's black, nobody would know. She's being praised as this "black" ballerina, but she looks like a mulatto or Latina woman you'd see on the subway and be like oh...ok. it's the same as NYCB now claiming their first Asian female principal ballerina and she's half Indian. Looks completely white. It's ridiculous. At least if ABT is going to claim a black ballerina as a principal, they should get #1 an actually excellent, expressive and technically superb dancer, then #2 claim she's black. Not the other way around for PC sensationalism.

Why did you make a Misty vs other ballerinas video? Was it to stir up drama? I know this video is 4 years old but you can’t compare dancers because everyone’s different and nobody is better. Ballet perfection is impossible anyways….. also Misty is such a beautiful star!🌟

Comparing a rehearsal to a performance, isn't right. She's one of the few black primas in a ballet company. Doesn't ever matter how talented one had to be to get there. Somebody is going to say 'lazy'. PFFT!

I’ve heard this before from professionals. She looks great to me, but I don’t have a trained eye. But I do know one thing…if she didn’t have talent she wouldn’t be here. Sometimes when a person finds themselves in superior roles, they work out all the better…😊 I think! I didn’t care for her variation either, but….i don’t know how they chose the variation they want.

Why didn't you include the names and date for the first set of Misty's fouettes AND why was the middle section cut out so that we only see the beginning and the end, which ends on the music leaving me with the impression that she completed the full sequence of turns? Seems intentional to fit your narrative of her being "lazy" and not capable of doing the complete sequence!!! As for the other ballerinas...there were only 2 of the others whose turns I liked... Michelle and Luciana! Gillian's turns look tight and forced and her foot is in a terrible and unattractive position throughout! I've seen Dvorovenko do Don Q 3 times and was in awe of her turns then but not so much here! If you compare these ballerinas to those around the world none of them are among the best!

Obviously the amateur dance critics here are not people of color. Have no idea what takes to show up everyday BLACK in any profession and be the best at what they do. America has a long history of minimizing even dismissing BLACK EXCELLENCE. Misty is a treasure, a beautiful dancer and human being

Here we go again and I’m glad someone pointed out the choreography. Just like the choreography for Swan Lake in which you called lazy but really probably meant the N word. Smh
