    Yay it's Toasty! The bronco with the PVC roll cage got a steel one from a TJ eventually, the PVC was just to hold the bikini top up. That thing was hilariously stupid and awesome. Those were good times and I'm glad Toasty remembers them fondly because I was doing a lot of really dumb stuff. The ZR2 SAS worked flawlessly after I figured out how to do the driveshaft.

      @campfirepassport 4 місяці тому

      With stock wheels you will need some spacers to move the wider tires out away from the coil a bit. As much positive caster you can get when aligning it and then some minor trimming on the front bumper. Has a minor rub when at full lock turning.

    I was going to do this trail on memorial weekend, but didn’t know about the permit / gate. I instead went on the “wimer” trail which parallels McGrew more or less. I made it to 42.00223, -123.90685 (bridge at diamond creek) where a fire had partially burned some of the bridge. I thought about crossing it I do feel I could have, but played it safe and turned around. There hadn’t been any sort of tire tracks this year on that trail, a few tight spots / obstacles nothing major. Would have liked to have made it to sourdough.

    I ran it last weekend with a GREAT group out of OR, I remember every spot in your video. I had a Blast!, 17 rigs, more than a half dozen deadfall acrossed the trail, I used the Bypasses because it's my daily driver and a 300 mile trip to get back home. navigated with a Stock 2018 Colorado ZR2 265/65R17, forward facing camera (Echomaster) and wife riding shotgun were the best spotters to have. The Video only touches on the experience, condolences to the Roberts Family, that spot requires situational awareness. I would definitely do it again, as mentioned recommend a couple of extra days to enjoy it. We had two, including the 3-4 hours to the trail head and 6 hour drive home. Trail time 9am-6pm, 6 Gallons of gasoline (5Mi/Gal) 80% 4-Lo range (helps with brake temps and brake fade).

    My issue with the EV is we are being sold the philosophy that they are saving the planet and so much better for the planet. I’ll call back to the Toyota 1:6:90 ratio they released in their corporate document talking about the costs (raw materials and carbon offsetting) of manufacturing them. One EV costs as much as 90 hybrids. How is that environmentally friendly? Also, Mike is right about being force fed the EV trend by the government. Not their place. In short, before I get on a long winded soap box, don’t buy an EV and tell me you did it to save the planet. You did it because they are cool. Because they are cool! Just don’t hide behind the guise of environmental activism. That’s a statement to make YOU feel better about buying. You want to be a true environmentalist, get a used car with good fuel economy and maintain it. You want a cool ev, buy a rivian. Gladiator rubakin - best off road capability hands down. ZR2/canton at4- god damn it, it’s the best looking inside/out. Ranger Raptor - love it. Offroad wild card. Looks great and it’s a Ford F***in’ Ranger! Tacoma iforce - best normal person, boarder line appliance, rig. Nissan HARDBODY - if you don’t like this, get the F*** out of here. Just leave. The door is that way 👉. If me personally was to go buy any of them off the lot right now, it would be the Ranger.

    55:43 I am fully on board with hybrid tech. I personally just like my remote rig to have less tech to hopefully reduce my risk of a breakdown that I cannot trial fix with standard tools and tagalong parts. Hybrid is the path to a more sustainable future for our rigs ALSO not to mention the power boost from a hybrid tech rig. Love the new Tacoma hybrid iforce motor. Awesome. Toyota also will not be going to an EV anytime soon. They recently released a document regarding those reasons. You can google it and find it, but the basic idea is the 1:6:90 rule they found. The cost (raw material) 1 EV = 6 plug in EV = 90 hybrid. To boot “the overall carbon reduction of those 90 hybrids over their lifetimes is 37 times as much as a single EV.”. In short, I am pro hybrid and pro tech. Just not for my off-roader. For a DD appliance it’s totally applicable and I am on board.

    I wonder how that round barn lasted that long? I usually see old barns falling down.

      It's a bit of a historic monument if you will for the area, has an on site care taker type person and museum gift shop up the road from it.

      No comments have been erased, not sure what you are referring to there. But honestly we did the best we could in every scenario considering the conditions. Are we a fan of how every situation was handled, no. Looking back at it could we have done better? Quite possibly yes, but in the moment we did all we could to deal with the constantly unfolding situation.

      @wildernessrecon my guy, the road conditions were not ideal, we did the best we could in the given moment and situation. We aren't out here trying to get stuck on purpose.
