"All Creatures of our God and King" Hal Hopson
"All Creatures of our God and King" arr. Hal H. Hopson
Organist Jesse Zylstra
Instrument: 3/26 Casavant Frères Ltée. Opus 2183 (1953) at the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music recital hall.
By no means was this my best performance, but I think this recording turned out good enough to be shared. This was either 2014 or 2015.

Praeludium in C by Gordon Young. A lot of fun to play, kind of a boring left hand but the pedals certainly make up for it! Organist Jesse Zylstra. Audio: Zoom Handy Recorder H4 Standard "point and shoot" camera for video. Organ info: database.organsociety.org/SingleOrganDetails.php?OrganID=2004

Card Reader on a 1979 123-C MOS1 Allen Organ
Переглядів 6 тис.13 років тому
This is a demonstration of the card reader of an Allen Organ model 123-C (MOS1 system from 1979). I demonstrate many cards, showing how they sound if you press down the key with the alterable (card) stops selected. One problem, and I may make a new video, at the time of recording nearly all the non-flute voices of the organ were not operational (including alterable voices) unless the vibrato wa...

Interesting how it chances the harmonics like on a Hammond drawbar organ

Used to have a very similar organ for home use. Worst organ ever, Best thing I did was get something newer. The card reader was useless to me, all the sounds sounded the exact same, and sounded nothing like the sound it said on the card..

Do you have to have the Alternate stop pulled when inserting card?

Been a while since I played this instrument, and my own Allen doesn't have cards, but it basically goes like this: You program the stop by selecting what alterable tab you want the card to program. There is a dial, it has 4 selections - 2 for the swell, 2 for the great. The tabs don't need to be on to program them.

Nice. Would be interesting to see it faster, and over the course of an entire weekend. Good job.

Hi, Sorry, they aren't mine. (Not that anyone would know they disappeared..) I'd see if the church would be interested in selling duplicates, but I'm no longer the organist there. Allen Organs does actually still sell cards that they have in stock -- search their website. They're a little pricy. Keep a watch on eBay. People sometimes post them for sale on The Organ Forum.

Is there any chance that you would be willing to sell some of your cards? You can write me at jsvogar@yahoo.com Thank you, Joe

Turned out that my vibrato unit was fried. I bypassed it with an end-to-end connector. New Allens have the ability to "switch instruments" entirely, or swap out individual ranks, but only to exchange with other sound already built in. It would be interesting to see this kind of thing added again (with USB's instead of cards, of course!) Later Allen Organs with card readers would no longer store the waveform on the card, and instead only activated other voices internally.
