    Good video. 320 miles of range is absolutely achievable in the Lightning with extended range battery. I’ve exceeded 320 several times. Like ICE vehicles, there are numerous factors that affect the range so you definitely won’t see 320 miles in all conditions, but it is not a specious claim by any stretch. It comes down to consumer education. EVs are opposite of ICE vehicles when it comes to range on the highway vs city. If I charge my Lightning to 100%, and only drive city, in nice weather, and don’t leave it sitting with AC running for too many hours, and run it right down to zero, I have seen mine do 350+ miles. Highway however, driving at 70 mph, in good weather and road conditions, it won’t go much further than 300. And given that charging stations are not every 5 miles yet, you really have to plan around 275 miles as your max range in good conditions.

    Just a heads up to those of you that own this truck or thinking of getting this truck. In Canada each province is different in BC we range anywhere between 24 cent a kWh to 60 cent a kWh depends where you go. And in Alberta it ranges from 44 cents a kWh to 91 cents a kWh. Lower mainland we are cheaper then interior bc. However BC hydro chargers seem to stay the same 34 cents a kWh

    I just got one. How do I get the Tesla NACS adapter? I hear it's free! The speed on this thing is ridiculous. You can quickly go over the speed limit without realizing it. I was on I94 and caught myself doing 90 because I was on the phone. I was used to the engine rev feedback to gauge my speed, but this is so quiet. As a first-time owner, I need a better way to let you know what you need, such as a home fast charger, which requires an electrician to get a 240V in the garage. I am not clear on how to get the NACS adapter.

    • @p_kf
      @p_kf Місяць тому

      It’s my understanding that with Flash and above, owners just had to sign in to their Fordpass accounts and enter shipping details; then the order would be queued. However, I believe the deadline for the “free” adapter ended on 10/1. I placed mine months ago and it has yet to arrive. Best bet is going aftermarket A2Z or Lectron for immediate use.

      Our EV has used about 7,750 kw of energy over 35,000kms and about a year and a half. AWD mid size SUV-crossover style, 5 adults comfortable inside. Here in BC, that "fuel" cost me about $1,000 (~$0.12-$0.13/kwh). This means, it costs LESS THAN $3 in electricity to drive 100kms. Our Subaru hatchback would have burned about 3,500L of gas in that same distance, which costs about $6,000-$6,500 here. So the gas car would be like $5,000 - $5,500 more just in fuel, let alone the maintenance. Running an EV is very, very cheap. My comparison is less than 1/6th the cost of a hatchback subaru car, that can't do what this vehicle can do. My home charging setup cost $2,000. So even with that cost in year one, it was still cheaper. We only use public charging maybe 10x a year. Try an EV out. You can take these for an overnighter test drive these days, they're actually on dealer lots like normal cars now, go try one! All the best

    I commute 100 miles a day in ruralandia. No freeways, no traffic, just beat up roads. The LT Lariat ER charges at home, nails the 310 mile range estimate Mar-Oct except for Nov-Feb when it drops to 270 due to lower temps, greater headwinds, wet roads. Not all of us live along 75-80 mph freeways. Best truck I’ve ever had. Out pull my ‘99 7.3 SD. Like driving a Lincoln on steroids. Wife prefers it to all others. Pulls my boat, cargo, trailer @ hauls ass. Power at $.063/kwh saves me $5K net per year over gas. Also, your Flash review is pretty good. The new ‘25 prices turns our LT ER into a $100K truck 😳 equal to 4 Mavericks. Came within inches of a Mav hybrid. purchase in ‘22. The EVs are just too expensive and w/o charge at home.. hard to justify as DCFC charging is $$$.

    They don't get the EPA range at 75 mph. That's gaslighting. Of course they don't get the EPA range at 75 mph. The mileage on my 2018 3.5L EcoBoost is within the margin of error when compared to the test parameters, but if am at 75 mph, my mileage drops dramatically.

  • @keithlambert6217
    @keithlambert6217 2 місяці тому

    I’m not defending the accuracy of mileage estimates, but wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s ‘deception’, a 75mph test for EV mileage is a test based on the exact opposite of EV benefits. Most drivers statistically don’t spent the day on the highway at 75 continually, some do most don’t. That’s the worst test scenario for any EV brand, EV’s get their ideal mileage performance in the city for stop and go around town (80% of driver use case). I found this as a surprise as it’s the reverse of ICE performance. Not picking a fight or saying that’s not true, but it’s not deceptive knowing how and when an EV is most effective.

    You’re right that it could be considered deceptive to only quote one range, but I think we need to get off of range estimates entirely and start quoting efficiency, in both city and highway, just like ICE vehicles. The problem is the single range estimate is a combined city/highway, and EVs are more efficient in city slow and stop/go situations. At worst, if we’re going to stick with range estimates, we need to get both the city and highway estimates.
