Fender Precision Bass build final setup part 3
I bought a brand new aerodyne bass, it sounds great no buzz no clanging. Should I still have a setup done on it?
The short answer is yes, because most instruments are shipped flat and loose. Therefor needing a setup in my humble opinion. But if you're happy with the way it feels...leave it alone. thanks for your interest and support
Great job, once again! Main reason I picked these guitars: I wanted a quality electric guitar easy to travel with...
Where you are located master ?
Ft. Lauderdale Fla. Thanks for watching!
I'm considering buying one of these Guitars from Kiesel. I learn a lot from your videos, ty for posting.
Start editing your clips with closeups so people can see what your doing!
Been watching all your uploads so far keep it up your doing a good job.
thank you.
I purchased a 318 Taylor very much like this. It had very high string height. The neck was straight. Because Taylors are bolt on necks, I simply purchased a Taylor wedge set, and reset the neck and achieved perfect set up.
did you loosen the strings before tightening the truss rod?
Doesn't Taylor have the NT neck system that you can use shims to lower the strings and change the neck angle
Taylor "New Technology" necks are all well and good, but this is not one of them. Thanks for your observation.
I have a 110ce . I like it
Great guitars! Thanks for watching.
power tool to take off strings... wow you're lazy asf
nice job great video
Thanks so much for your support!
YOU NEED A SHORT FILE AND STRAIGHT EDGES TO FIND THE LAY OF THE NECK...GO BACK TO YOUR WALMART JOB
Looking Good.
Thanks so much for watching and your support!
this GOOF DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING....IT'S NOT HOW YOU LEVEL FRETS ! THIS IS ANOTHER YOU TUBE BULL SHIT DEAL
Maybe the guy wanted the tremendous to be decked...
I put some pencil graphite on the nut... To keep the strings moving....
What are you a big block Chevy, 396 ⁉️
68 Chevelle 396! Built in my garage bumper to bumper HOT ROD. Thanks for watching!
Hello Bud Witch LG BAGGS pick up model did you use?
LR Baggs element active system. Under saddle pickup with volume and tone control. Amazon $180. thanks for watching!
I never did get any BC Rich guitars but thought they had some cool designs.
Yup, kinda my thought too. Thanks for watching!
i bought a glarry p bass just to practice on. . pickups were horrible. very low out put. put di marzios on and it made it to sound like a 600 dollar bass.
Thanks for your input and support. No question DMZ pups are a great upgrade to any instrument.
Porcupine and later Rat motor because of the rocker arm studs canted instead of in line. I would be a 413 kinda guy. I have a TexMex Tele that has great tones and playability.
Yup thanks for playing along and your support!
i'm getting a butterscotch Nashville soon, good to know about the factory wiring issues before i open it up. i'm going to do this but put a SD mini-hum in the neck and make it black pearloid pickguard. change out the other two pups for SD noiseless.
Chevy Big Block 396
Big Block Firing Order.
Thanks Denro! 100% correct. Big Block in my case. Thanks for your support.
@@396guitars Thanks for Sharing.
.012 is crazy high !!! pro play with .005 or .006'' ! this goof has no idea....nut heights should be low so first fret note show correct on tuner . another wanna be fool
The frets are probably lifting off the fretboard? Which would be glue and clamp the ones that are. Otherwise they’ll just keep lifting. Then you should level the frets if needed, etc. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve watched like five videos.
😅
Where did you get the pickup for the charango? I need that pickup where can I get it
Thanks
It was a spare part that I had in my parts bin. But, you can find them on line anywhere. They are not expensive, $50-$100. I recommend LR Baggs.
What a great build!
If I took my Clapton Strat to a tech and he argued with me that it doesn’t have an active circuit, I’d go somewhere else. The active mid boost is the whole point of the Clapton Strat.
Moe called in sick that day and Curly was in charge.
ha ha I luv that!
I don't understand why the pot manufacturers don't include a ground lug on the side of the pot. Adding a puddle of solder to the back seems like a kludge but obviously it needs to be grounded.
I could not agree more! Good call
Great to see some less common instruments. Some unique problems to work around. very interesting.
Thanks for watching!
I think that’s called “micro tilt”. You’re supposed to tilt it when the saddles won’t go any lower and your action is still too high. I would go to the hardware store and get shorter saddle screws.
The idea of this function is to adjust neck angle instead of putting a shim in the neck pocket. Shorter screws are NOT the answer. Thanks for watching and your input.
Human?? say it isn't so!! It may be brand new but who knows how long it was sitting around a warehouse or sales room waiting for someone who wanted a 6-string bass. Things stretch or shrink especially on a new instrument. A setup process is needed not because of use but time.
This is pretty cool. I like learning about other instruments, especially from the Point of view of a technician. It would be really cool if you could get a Japanese shamisen or a sitar and see how they work. Here's a shamisen playing modern funk. ua-cam.com/video/tA8PKx09ao8/v-deo.html
That's cool.
Always a pleasure!
apparently, the preamp gives a midboost.listen to the bad love solo from clapton's journeyman album Master Volume, Tone 1. Master TBX™ Tone Control, Tone 2. Master Active Mid Boost (0-25dB). Mid boost kit
I don't work on instruments but I have repaired furniture and jewelry boxes. One trick is to lay a bead of glue along the length of the crack and then to use dental floss or kite string to draw it down into the crack if you can thread it all the way through. Can't wait to see how it comes out. I would guess that a danger with a guitar is vibration in any part of the fracture that doesn't get some glue.
Thanks Rick. This fracture was not complete. But I'll remember that tip for future jobs.
Those Epi 3 way switches have always been crap.
Yup, Ive changed more of those than any other kind. Thanks a lot for watching and for your support!
What was the polish you used please?
musicnomad - ONE for gloss finish
Nice! Been doing my own basses manly for years but I picked up some good pointers. SUB!
I have been a guitar tech for 47 yrs and have never seen acoustic strings on an electric guitar. Seen plenty of electric strings on acoustic guitars but this is a new one on me. Just like some drivers should not have a drivers liscense, some people should not be allowed to own a guitar. Just sayin!!!
Ha Ha! Thanks for watching and your humorous input. Made me chuckle!
way too high 5/64'' ! should be 4/64'' on low e !
They put the guitar together at fender specific to the building specs so that it's ready to go out of the box. After you messed around with it you affected the sound of it whether you think so or not. So you'll never know what a Clapton guitar actually sounds like unless you buy a new one
You are entitled to your opinion. However, NO guitar is EVER "set up" out of the box. Further, the customer is always right. And in this case, the customer wanted a floating bridge. Thanks for watching and your input.
I learned something. Thanks.
it's the TBX mid-boost preamp Eric developed with fenner .. meh, you want low output pups all that to work right, audio pots, bu YES Eric did develop the TBX preamp with fenner way back, you can search it out
Thank you for your input, support and most of all the correction.
Wow. I wish I had the skill to do all that to my basses in less than 30 minutes. Maybe one day. Thanks for the instruction!
Thanks Jowah! Glad it was informative and thanks for your support.

I have one similar. It’s an AXS model. My action at the first is about 3/64 to 4/64 across all 6 strings. It looks like someone filed deep into the nut. All the strings are about 15/64 at the 12th. The saddle looks high to me. There is relief. I feel like the nut should be replaced and sanded at the bottom. The saddle needs lowered. And maybe adjusting the truss rod. Any suggestions?
Unfortunately, without looking at your instrument I can't really guide you. 15/64 at the 12th fret is HUGE Justin. Too many variables. Where are you?
@@396guitars South Central PA. As it sits the relief seems spot on. The first fret measurements are on. It’s once you get to 6-8 that it starts really going up. I thing the saddle can be sanded
ok @@justinfickel1331
15/64 is twice as high as what is acceptable. You need to achieve an 8/64 of an inch drop to 7/64 total string height on the bass side. That being said, try setting the neck to a straight condition, then shave the saddle as much as the instrument will tolerate. My experience is you might gain (lower) 4/64 of an inch. My point is, there is something else causing the string height to be so high. Possibly body warp or neck angle distortion. Good luck
@@396guitars thank you for your time and patience.
