Not perfect but I tried my best. I made mistakes on the low mezzani from reverso side and the last double cut I can do better next time :)

Sihong vs Matti, Spadone vs Swiss saber

For the safety reason, I’m not going to use any big cuts, sweeps or rotations with my spadone. It's an experimental fight so both of us ( mostly me) are making mistakes but the point is we are having fun, we are learning something and none of us are getting injured. One month after receiving my spadone, I'm still trying to figure out how to use my spadone more efficiently. Some lesson learned h...
The Swiss saber is so weird and I love it
Seeing the gauntlets used from swiss saber guy, in guessing they're Red Dragons?
Yes they are.
@@傅思鸿 Would you reccomend red dragon as a good sparring glove? I heard mixed reviews for them. If not, what glove would be good to use with the swiss saber?
Kalvin Chester It depends on what weapon you are using, what weapon the opponent is using and the intensity of the sparring. Here you can see that although I’m using a large weapon, we are still doing sparring in a very controlled manner and he is a skilled fencer that knows how to use his weapon (that of cause includes the basket hilt) to defend himself. In this case, red dragon is enough.
Kalvin Chester In my opinion, you can mix things up when using swiss saber. In most case, your lead hand will stay in the half basket hilt which means you can safely use a somewhat lighter 5-finger glove to have be control of the sword (and you can put your index finger in the ring to do some rapier thrust!) Your offhand however will be exposed if you don’t have enough space for it in the basket. A safer choice will be just put a SPES heavy/Sparring glove mitten on it.
@@傅思鸿 meanwhile I have a replica set of 14th century finger gauntlets.
Seeing how the saber is from Castile, where is the Spadone from?
Kalvin Chester Regenyei
please post more so i ccan see different hema styles from different areas develop.
Any reason it was decided to only have the swiss saber hilt only cover one hand instead of both? I'm curious.
Blazing Zephyr His previous sword was a replica of Wallace collection A489 which has a hilt that can cover both hands. The problem is there is not enough space for him to put his two hands in comfortably when wearing any kind of padded gloves. He ends up with putting his left hand on the pommel which is not covered by the hilt. So maybe that’s the reason? And you can always send a email to Castille armory to get an official answer.
傅思鸿 Do you train your self according to specific treaties? Especially asking for the swiss saber. There is Figueiredo for montante but I couldn't find any for the swiss sabre.
Attila SATAN Basically he is using the Swiss Sabre as a longsword with more hand protection and a rapier with more cutting ability. It’s a longsword, a half-baskethilt broadsword and a rapier so you can choose to use the techniques you like according to the situation
Well! I'm a saberist and I occasionally fight against rapiers and longsword. I'm also not so bad with longswords. If you consider my humble opinion, if you got this much cutting power the plays have to me diffrent from any of the weapons that you listed. I've lately discovered this swiss saber and thought that it should be more related with kriegmessers but as you may know no one has discovered yet any treaties about it eighter.
Attila SATAN The blade shape of each Swiss saber can vary a lot. This particular one has a thin and nimble blade, that makes it behaves different from the kriegmesser. That makes it possible to use as a longsword, backsword or rapier.
Great video, must be frustrating to have to pull your punches with that spadone. Would you happen to know where your partner got his swiss saber?
Thanks, I'm OK with that because we know it's the only way to try to do some spadone sparring :) The swiss sabre is made by Castille Armory.

I thought that might have been it, thanks!
